So true! Thank you, bro. You're part of the reason I'm still here. I appreciate your input.

It was almost obvious from the start that you did not deserve such a harsh punishment. So you did the right thing, that you applied and told everything as it is.  Wink

I didn’t have the time to track your ban appeal. Good to see you back. At first, I thought you are just another copy paste gang  Grin
I believe in evaluating of a wrong doing/mistake and taking step on that. Also, 2nd chance would be the option when it's not a major issue.
Hope you don’t mind to check my recent thread on Copy/paste with source only and see what community thinks on this.
Anyway, welcome back. Have a good journey here.

Case 2
But, since Dr. Princewill isn't a well-known lecturer and isn't the only Dr. answering the name Princewill on the internet, how can you notify your reader who the author is without including a citation link? This is what I'm worried about.

Quote from:  Dr. Prince will
Soaking is a unit operation used mostly in processing and preservation to cause some targeted alterations in a product such as changes in the outcomes of certain constituents which are considered to be very important to the process like starch yield and moisture content
You copied that text, didn't you? In that case: add the link Smiley
If it came from a book, add the book title. But adding a link is equally useless if that link got it from another site, which again got it from somewhere else. It's enough to avoid getting banned, but if we're going for academic standards anyway, it's best to follow the trail up to the source.

Case 1

I think it very possible to cite famous people's quotes this way because nobody would bother clicking to read more.

Welcome back Mpamaegbu, one of the fastest unbans I've seen here.

I said the same thing yesterday I think he was not meant to be banned in the first place.

Welcome back Mpamaegbu, one of the fastest unbans I've seen here.

I will suggest everyone use quotation marks for copy-pasted parts.
Even better: start with the source, so you can't forget it, and it's instantly clear you copied it.

Even better, have your own attitude and opinion in the discussion. Directing to another source is reasonable when you want to share important news or information. Involving someone's opinion from the Internet into a discussion is pointless even with the addition of sources.

Nice to see you back together, give us something more convincing topic ideas we can learn more about on the BitcoinTalk forum, we'd love to see you smile, even if it feels a little salty.

I like this idea, but would the mods allow a citation like this without a source link?
Why not? There's more on earth than just the internet. Take this for example:
Quote from: Martin Luther King
I have a dream
Of course, if you copy it from a site, you can add the URL to the quote:
Quote from: Britannica.com
I Have a Dream, speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., that was delivered on August 28, 1963, during the March on Washington.

It's always best to use the original source, and I would like to link to Martin Luther King directly, but he was killed long before the internet.

I like this idea, but would the mods allow a citation like this without a source link? I'd like to hear what the mods think about this because it looks extremely good to me. Simple and straightforward.

Welcome back Smiley
You can make this shorter (I only found out just now):
Code:
[quote=Someone]Example quote[/quote]
This shows:
Quote from: Someone
Example quote

Welcome back Smiley

Even better: start with the source, so you can't forget it, and it's instantly clear you copied it.

Even better if you use quote/author-tags:
Code:
[quote author="[url=https://loyce.club/]loyce.club[/url]"]Howdy :D[/quote]
This shows:
Quote from: loyce.club
Howdy Cheesy

You can make this shorter (I only found out just now):
Code:
[quote=Someone]Example quote[/quote]
This shows:
Quote from: Someone
Example quote

You can combine those by omitting "author=":
Code:
[quote="[url=https://loyce.club/]loyce.club[/url]"]Howdy :D[/quote]
This shows:
Quote from: loyce.club
Howdy Cheesy

It is quite appealing when you see forum users come together to save one soul from been wrongly judged.
It is indeed, and I only remember seeing it happen one other time, with ChiBitCTy (if I'm not mistaken).  The community rallied around him, except it took longer for him to get unbanned than it did with OP.  So yeah, I think the community knows which members are deserving of support, whether the ban was just or not, and which members are just bull of BS.

Glad you're back, Mpamaegbu.  I'd really hate it if those merits I gave you went to waste Smiley.  Seriously, I'm happy with the way things turned out and that you had a lot of members at your back.  The same can't be said of many other people here, so that should tell you something.

Since plagiarism is a sensitive case in the forum, so I will suggest everyone use quotation marks for copy-pasted parts.
I would add that quotation marks are fine, but members need to cite the source of whatever material they've used from any source other than their own minds.  I'm sure OP knows that, but it's important for other members to understand that they have to write in the source if the quote is from somebody else.

Although I wasn't familiar with your plagiarism case and just now read it. I will say we aren't all above mistakes. Since you weren't copy-pasted intentionally and forgot to put links, and there was a footprint you don't want to prove authorship of the post. I will consider it a mistake. However good to see you already un-banned, so welcome back.

Since plagiarism is a sensitive case in the forum, so I will suggest everyone use quotation marks for copy-pasted parts. So even you forgot the writing link the subject will not to immediate ban. Don't do it intentionally always, forum users are intelligent enough to identify plagiarism. Repeating the same thing many times would ban anyone. Anyway, hope you have already taken a lesson from your mistakes. So take care in the future and keep contributing to the forum.

You've been one of our most active posters and contributors in our local board, and we're glad to have you back on board. We're still trying to get Poka on board, as he is one of the fastest-growing users in the community after Charles-Tim I'm not sure how reasonable his argument is, but I trust the mod to always act in the best interests of the forum. Thank you for spreading the word about my profession. Tell about my wife too Lol Smiley

It is quite appealing when you see forum users come together to save one soul from been wrongly judged. The ban was a mistake from the onset as you never intend to pose that post as yours which is why the moderators had to step in immediately and as you can see, you got unbanned without any punishment attached. You have to be the first person I know to recieve such pardon as others previously unbanned has some signatures or posting restrictions.

Just be careful next time that's all I can say, always make sure the links of a source is the first thing you input at the button of your thread before what even message you intend passing across, that's what I do so as it helps you not to forget about referencing as a result of nother development. This experience should also teach you a lesson to always do your best and do good where ever you find yourself as it was because of your activeness on the forum that draw attention to your issue.

The rules weren't created to hurt users putting in their best trying to be productive on the forum Instead to hunt down those abusing the forum.

I'm short of words, frankly speaking (writing, actually as is the case). I really don't know how to begin my show of gratitude to the community and all those who were directly involved in my account getting unbanned.

However, I have to commence somewhere. In no particular order, my immense gratitude goes to Hilariousandco for waging into the matter speedily. The Pharmacist and Suchmoon who kept making candid suggestions without bias on what could've gone wrong or missed. Ratimov, CryptopreneurBrainboss for showing up when it mattered most. Frengki_cisco, UserU who had to chase me to telegram to make sure I was okay. My homeboys Charles-Tim, GeorgeJohn, Upgrade00, Engineer Igehhh (funny dude with the who dey breeeeeet congratulatory message!), Smartvirus, una too much! You now know that blood is thicker than water right 😏. Bestchange for granting me that privilege to hop in immediately.

I'm a solitary kind of person (not a recluse though) when I choose to be. And most times I choose to as my way of avoiding issues with people. While that debacle that inadvertently brought my moniker to public glare lasted, a lot of things ran through my mind. Chief among them was what would become of African Proverbs in Pidgin where we share home grown but internationally relevant nuggets and the Nigeria Local Board, All board discussion welcomed which is now home to most of us Nigerians on the forum, far detached from the stress and tales of horror at home. Yes, our dear country is going through a lot at the moment. That thread has kept a lot of us looking forward to this forum daily as respite. I'm optimistic that one day, theymos in his magnanimity will grant us that local board we seek.

I also want to thank airfinex who pointed that problematic post out and made me realize I could do better. I bare them no grudges. He's the reason for my unexpected popularity 😆 outside my local board (so to say). I'm sure going forward we shall become buddies as I know in my heart. For those whose names skipped me for a mention, do pardon me. It's not done on purpose.

Going forward, I will like to encourage the community to build a castle of friendship, rather than a wall of antagonism. The best we can do as humans is to create a purpose to intentionally accommodate others who mean well but may share different views from ours. I ain't talking of scammers and fraudsters here. From my recent experience I have come to realize that there are some who get punished for unintentional slips or no slips at all but who couldn't find the appropriate way to defend the allegations against them. It's usually a single accused against the community and oh mine, the questions come in torrents.

While maintaining that plagiarism should be frown at and punished, I sincerely wish the other dude, Pokapoka, gets a relief. He's someone who has shown cause to be useful to the community and has immensely developed their ability to learn and also help others. I know he's highly devastated at the moment.

Let me speedily end this here by saying I'm now more determined to be a better and more focused forum member with that experience as a feather in my cap.

One love all 😘

Edited – Oh mine! How did I skip LoyceV who whitelisted my appeal account within minutes it was mentioned to them. Thank you a great deal, LoyceV.
