Umm not really a great choice if you ask me, I will always go for a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet because of how easy it's easy to use, store crypto and hide it in my house or somewhere secretive. This looks more like an alien device for those who don't know about Bitcoin Hardware Wallet(s) and if we go by Trezor or Ledger design, it's just a simple USB stick.

In the end if it's working fine for you, great.

You don't know it but many people are not unfamiliar with it, SafePal is a storage wallet with both hot and cold wallets that many people have been using, it's not new anymore. But I also wouldn't choose it as it is a closed source hardware wallet, but I would also recommend skipping Ledger, which is also no longer a trusted wallet. Perhaps when it comes to hardware wallets these days, Trezor is the safest option we have. But no one can predict what will happen, everything will be safe until it is no longer safe like how Ledger lost his reputation.

Hardware wallet is the most secure full security wallet. Hardware wallets are the safest place to store bitcoins, especially for long periods of time. As far as I know sepal wallet is safe enough but confirm keys carefully. Because if the wallet is lost then you will keep your assets inside it.
The OP's acknowledgment that while owning SafePal was rarely used and the worry he experienced was also great because SafePal was a closed source hardware wallet from China.
Hardware wallets are safe for storing long-term assets, but from the testimonials of users who have used them lead me to say it would not be safe with a SafePal wallet for storing them long-term.

So I think it will be safe to write down the Key on paper.
Storing keys by writing on paper is still not safe because they still have the potential to be damaged by water and scorched by fire.

Just mainly due to curiosity — not saying that SafePal is bad or whatever(I have no idea because I never researched it), but how did you end up picking SafePal? Knowing that the Bitcoiner hardware wallet trio is Trezor-Ledger-ColdCard.

Sorry for posting irrelevant comment but man!! I am seeing you everyday everywhere in every thread. I know you are a legendary member and  you are very active. I don't know how to describe, my mind/brain always recognize this person/user (mk4). And the funny part is whether small or big or anything you always get merits. Man you are really something. Congratulations on using a hardware wallet to secure your funds. Although currently Safepal hardware wallet has gained much popularity and it is on the list of gaining trust. Hardware Wallet It has strong security and ensures safe transactions from here very fast. But I have not used this safepal hardware wallet but its software wallet which gives me good security. Accordingly, I have seen many reviews of hardware wallets which have convinced me that this wallet is truly amazing. Safepal hardware wallet is more popular and advanced than other hardware wallets and this wallet provides maximum security of money to people.

Safepal wallet is neither a recommended nor a safe wallet. Take note that hardware wallets store your keys in them and it is your seed phrase that should be wriiten on paper and not your private keys. If your wallet is stolen or lost you'll have to use your seed phrase to import your wallet into another software or hardware wallet so an attacker would not brute-force your device pin, if weak, and steal your funds.
That is a good looking wallet but obviously as mentioned earlier it is closed source and thus you may not be in full custody of your own funds. I don’t know, if you are in decentralised market then best way to secure the funds is use non custodial wallets itself.
A closed source wallet can also be a self custody wallet, what is unsafe about a closed source wallet is that the users cannot verify the code of the wallet to know if it is safe and secure, even though they may have their keys and seed phrase.

I remember my first wallet. It was Trust wallet. Although I was still a newbie as at the time of using it, I will put myself in the bracket of persons who lost their asset due to negligence. I don't know if you would think of it like that because I got a new phone, reinstalled the Trust wallet, recovered my account with my seed phrase, but I couldn't find the supposed coin I kept there. Or perhaps I thought I did and was disappointed to find out I didn't in the end.

I had to give Electrum a try and it works just fine for me for now.
I am however fascinated by your bold move to acquire a hardware wallet no matter the cost or sacrifice you must have made, and am sure alot of us here would agree that it feels more safer to use the hardware wallet since it is totally disconnected from our devices, and safe from phishing, scammers and hackers.
Also is the case where the hardware wallet is stolen or lost, as long as the seed phrases are intact, a new hardware wallet can be bought or used to recover the coins.

Quote
Both Ledger and Trezor wallets allow users to recover access to their wallets through a seed phrase by simply using another hardware wallet.

“A user could recover their wallet and funds on any of the other new Ledger wallets. Alternatively, they could also recover on a Trezor, SafePal or another hardware wallet device,” Ledger chief technology officer Charles Guillemet told Cointelegraph.

Users can also turn to software wallets to access their funds in case the hardware wallet was lost, stolen or destroyed. “If you lost your Trezor, but you still have your recovery seed, you can recover your funds through many hardware wallets and software wallets in the market,” Trezor chief information security officer Jan Andraščík said.

According to the Ledger and Trezor executives, the list of compatible software wallets includes platforms such as Electrum, Exodus, MetaMask, Samourai, Wasabi, Spot and others.

Nice op. I'm interested in buying a hardware wallet but haven't bought it yet because I don't have a large amount of money to store. The amount of bitcoins I have can be safely stored in a software wallet.  However, software wallets are very risky. I think you won't have any trouble using it.  I am thinking of ordering one very soon. thanks for sharing this here op. congratulations for your first purchase a hardware wallet

Maybe you can take this as a advantage to learn and know the kind of hardware wallet you should go for when the times comes for you to purchase one, my advice for you is not to buy a ledger brand hardware wallet, instead you can go for Trezor or any other brand, using hardware is not as risky as some other storage alternatives that are hot wallets, you only need to give a maintenance to how you handle a hardware wallet against any form of damage.

Perhaps hardware wallets are still the safest option for us, but it cannot be said that they are risk-free. I remember Ledger wallet used to be considered the most popular and secure until they announced the Ledger Recover feature, and it caused potential concern that they really weren't storing people's seed phrases? For me, as long as these devices are manufactured and managed under one centralized company, there will be risks that we do not anticipate.

Perhaps it can be seen from some open-source hardware wallets. Link.
If one day he has more money and plans to invest more in the long run then hardware will be more effective than storing in a hot wallet.

Actually there is nothing wrong with storing in a hot wallet if they can keep it safe from other hacker attacks, but that is easy to do if it is connected to the internet, in anticipation, hardware is the solution if you want to be truly safe.

I don’t know, if you are in decentralised market then best way to secure the funds is use non custodial wallets itself. Sometimes it is far safer to use the paper wallet somehow because there is literally no existence of these wallets over the internet as long as we do not import them. Better choose your methods properly and then invest. I wish you would have dated a little to order Trezor. It is proven wallet in terms of Safe keeping. Anyways, congratulation on your first hardware wallet, more Bitcoins to you!

I thought it would be fine and it would arrive safely because I bought directly from the official Trezor website because my initial thought was that it would be safer. But a few weeks later there was a call from my country's Customs saying that my package had been delayed and that I had to pay approximately $35 for my package to be sent immediately.
Since it was my first time making an out-of-country purchase, I ignored the call because I thought it was a scam and I didn't want to pay again after buying from the Trezor site.

Big shopping sites give a price by including the additional expenses at the customs when calculating the price of the goods you buy. Sites of brands that only sell a product usually do not do this. For the products of companies selling a single brand, customs have to constantly communicate. Actually, it's not something they want. It can be very tiring. From this point of view, all sites should update the order method they use and instantly add the customs prices to the products they sell.

We do not like the additional fees after shopping, but we are obliged to pay. At least if they give us the opportunity to pay as soon as we receive the product, we won't have to deal with it later.

Congratulations on becoming a user who has moved to the wallet stage. Security is everything.

It's not really, it depends on you. there are some people who even lost their Bitcoin save in their hardware wallet.
Maybe it's missing the seed phrase so that bitcoin assets in hardware can no longer be accessed, if they still store of course their bitcoin deposits are still safe.

Basic in my experience, osoftware wallets is safe, I don't have a problem using a software wallet (electrum) for 3 years. I still have my 1st-time Bitcoin save on Electrum today. So, if you save your fund in a hardware wallet, but keep the seed phrase on PC or electronic gadget where always connect to the internet will surely be lost as well as the others.
Yes, the software wallet is still safe, I also still use Electrum for several years without experiencing any problems until now, the most important thing is how to protect our PCs from unknown attacks including from unknown sites or the kind they click on unknown links, I that should be considered for the security of the software wallet.

Although I did not store bitcoin for long on Electrum, I did store it for 3 months safely, but if you still have doubts about this then it is better to use a hardware wallet.

Worries, of course there are especially many who remind that Safepal is closed source from China, they steal and change and violate the original source code just like @dkbit98 said, obviously this gives me concern.
I also still can't give much experience because I've only been using this for 3 weeks and only a few times I tried to transfer and receive bitcoins although so far it's been fine for me.
Meaning I don't have to try if SafePal is a closed source hardware wallet because those of you who have already bought it have the fear of losing assets.
So far, I have avoided closed source wallets and even told other people to stay away from closed source wallets. We just want a wallet that has good privacy and we don't want our users to be bothered by worry even though we have stored the backup private key or seed phrase in a safe place.

You are right that if someone keeps his wallet attached everywhere or does not keep the seed phrases of his wallet safe, then his assets are always in danger.i appreciate your experience and surly your assets will be safe in your soft ware wallet, but many peoples assets are easily stolen by scammers from software wallets.

Software wallet don't have any special security features,so you only know when the scammers have done their job.on the other hand,if we talk about hard wallets,it has very good safety features.scammers cant get in easily and various password and safety features let you know in time. I myself using a hard wallet for a long time and i feel very comfortable keeping my assets in it. hard wallet is more secure without any risk.

I think you have done the right thing in this regard (Using a safe place to store your long term Investment). Because some people even ignore this. And they stick with their hot wallets. But yeah, it's about caution as well as convenience. so as long as you can store your Seed Phrase safely then everything will stay safe.
Among the people on the ignore list that you mean there are those who are too concerned with security to keep their assets. They really care about wallet security even though they can only afford software wallets like the electrum wallet. Those who use the electrum software wallet have also done the right thing.

I agree hardware wallets are more secure to use, but using software wallets like electrum are also very safe as their use is taken care of properly. In terms of age, it can be said that it is short, maybe yes, because in the past two years I have been using electrum, nothing has happened.
So true. As I said before that as long as we can store our wallet seed phrases properly and safely then everything will be fine even if it's just a software wallet like you meant (elektrum) and another Bluewallet. Because basically it's about whether we can store safely or not. Even though we use a hardware wallet, we can't hide the Seed Phrase properly (it's not secure). So it will still be prone to theft. It's just that hardware wallets have a better edge in terms of security against phishing attacks and such.

Software wallets that are run online are risky and prone to being hacked, but a software wallet can be as safe as a hardware wallet if the keys and seed phrase are generated and stored in a completely air-gapped device. If the device is never going to be connected to the internet, then it is safe to store your funds in them.
But now for those of you who are well experienced with this two wallet, and maybe ledger included, which of this is the best aside one being more expensive than the other? asking this because i know that for some products, being expensive does not necessarily mean they are the best.
Safepal and Ledger are not recommended hardware wallets, Safepal is closed source and has many other flaws, while Ledger is now a mess because of the new Ledger recovery service. Trezor as well is adding CoinJoin to the services they offer, but they are using Wasabi for their CoinJoin, which works with a blockchain analysis company to blacklist certain UTXO for reasons that only them know of, so i may not recommend any of these three wallets. But for open source hardware wallets options, check this topic: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-open-source-hardware-wallets-5288971

I haven't been back here for a while and I've got a lot of work to do as a form of accountability for what I've done by making this thread Cheesy

Although this wallet is not only focused on bitcoin because there are some features that I will not use and of course there are some disadvantages but I will use this wallet for storing my bitcoin assets at this time. But I will probably only use this for a while because I still want something else for my Hardware Wallet.
Sorry for saying this and I don't want to ruin your fun, but Safepal hardware wallet is probably one of the worst hardware wallets you could buy at the moment.
Safepal is closed source black box from China, they stole and altered and violated original source code, and they are doing the same thing like ledger walelt with restore feature, but it's even worse because they are storing it in cloud  Tongue
I wouldn't consider this to be safe device for anything and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially when there are much better Open Source alternatives.
Thank you for the warning sir, I too now continue to be cautious but have been using for some time now even though it's only a portion of my assets moreover I feel a little sorry if it's been bought but not used.
On the other hand I am also still trying out some things with the wallet I have which is only 3 weeks old.

I'm also currently trying to find another hard wallet because there are so many warnings and conditions that are said to be not very secure and I'm also looking at some recommendations at the moment. do you have any suggestions for additions?

I think that's the department where they are responsible for parcels coming in and out of the country right? It maybe taxes that prevented your package to be shipped to you or something. It really is hard to trust that anyone who is calling you and asking for money is out there and be seen as a scam etc.

I haven't tried SafePal and I have read good reviews about it too. How are you doing with it OP?
That's the thing, I've never dealt with anything like this before because I rarely buy goods from overseas so I didn't really understand the taxation system that exists regarding overseas purchases so when a call asking for money for the parcel to be sent was made I was suspicious even though it was the truth but still I wasn't explained in detail and made my parcel return to the distributor.

In the last 3 weeks I tried to keep a small portion of my funds in safepal and tried a few times to also send and for the time being I don't really have a problem but when so many people say that this is not very good of course I also have a sense of concern and will probably look for a new wallet that is more secure.
Even though I haven't had any problems for the past 3 weeks, I'm still worried about it.

A big congratulations mate on the purchase of your very first hardware bitcoin wallet, this is very impressive and encouraging to most of us who still very much depend on wallets like electrum and Mycelium for storing our bitcoins, i personally can not wait to make the same move, i will probably have to find out if trezor and safepal both ship to my country, then i weigh the cost and see which to go for..
But now for those of you who are well experienced with this two wallet, and maybe ledger included, which of this is the best aside one being more expensive than the other? asking this because i know that for some products, being expensive does not necessarily mean they are the best.
You have to find out first mate, it's actually possible to send it but you have to pay attention to the regulations in your country in the tax system and others, don't let what happened to me happen to you Cheesy
Even though it is certain that the money is also returned but still there is a feeling that cannot be expressed when the item we want and have bought but does not arrive properly it is our money that returns.

[snip]
I've never used SafePal. Based on your experience using it, is it comfortable and there are no worries?

At last, despite the challenges and drama, you have ultimately been able to purchase a wallet for your Bitcoin storage. It's a pragmatic decision to prioritize the security of your assets.

Wow! This is interesting. Trezor would have been the best for the hardware wallet but every disappointment is a blessing, you have been blessed with multifunction hardware wallet to use any coins for of your choice. You are saying, you want to use it for the main time but I advise you to keep it for further uses of other coins that have been listed in the wallet. Who knows whether you will use or invest in other coins which you want to add it to bitcoin investment because diversity is good.
And also, this your thread will be very suitable for wallet software and in the wallet software you go to hardware wallet https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=261.0 and place it there. Congrats for purchasing hardware wallet for the first time. This has been my dream for some time.

I think you have done the right thing in this regard (Using a safe place to store your long term Investment). Because some people even ignore this. And they stick with their hot wallets. But yeah, it's about caution as well as convenience. so as long as you can store your Seed Phrase safely then everything will stay safe.

When people feel comfortable about hardware wallets I always laugh, do you know think that you are hack proof? Don't fool yourselves, you still need to be extremely careful how you use that hardware wallet and you still need to worry about the maker themselves, hopefully they don't mess thing up through software updates and other.

If anything beats offline wallet like paper wallet I will like to know what it is, even if it's airgapped or whatever, your worries isn't the end because where you are going to keep your seed is very important, talk less about owning crypto in the public too to avoid dangerous attention.

Believe me, after a hardware wallet it's not over still, it's the beginning,  the beginning of your cautiousness.
You seem to care about keeping your seeds safe. That is, you care about protecting the cryptographic information that your hardware wallet stores. This is an important issue and yes, you should.

However, with a proper hardware wallet and the right security measures, it proves to be one of the safest methods to store and manage your cryptocurrency. Although no system is completely secure and impenetrable. Therefore, it may be wise to do it correctly and limit the publicity of information about owning cryptocurrencies to avoid the attention of those with malicious intent.

Among all the wallets nowadays, I recommend trying the one from the XGo platform. The XGo mobile app is a solid choice for crypto enthusiasts looking for a simple and reliable platform. It offers a range of cryptocurrencies, seamless transactions, and real-time market data. Worth checking out.
It requires email to sign up. A noncustodial wallet will not require email and nothing like signup or sign in. Is XGo a custodial wallet? I was unable to sign up to know if it is a custodial wallet, but I do not like the wallet at all.

Among bitcoin wallet, I can not point more than Electrum, Sparrow, Bluewallet, Passport and Trezor. There are other better ones too, but XGO is not among but to give convenience.

Good lord. I thought XGo shills have stopped, looks like I'm wrong. Thanks for quoting, I somehow missed their post.

For everyone's information, XGo is a custodial exchange and @polar.bear824 is likely one of their shills. We spotted couple of their shill accounts last time, see: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xgo-5448660

A lot of XGo shill posts are off-topic like this one - this thread is about wallets and they bring up an exchange, I would suggest reporting as well next time you see another one. Anyhow, I've reported their post this time.

Your hardware wallet purchase seems like a rollercoaster, so I know your suffering. I smile thinking about your gift stalled in customs. However, these situations happen to everyone, especially in overseas transactions.

For years, I've used bitcoin and swore by hardware wallets. As you stated, electrum can be dangerous if you're not careful with seed preservation.

Its smart to obtain a hardware wallet. Crypto security's gold standard. That extra protection will benefit your bitcoin investments. Remember, its more than bitcoin. A wallet that supports various coins is beneficial. Diversify your portfolio whenever you desire.

Sorry guys, even hardware wallets need some updates from now and then, haven't you heard about glitches in updates? That scares me the most because I have seen new crypto wallet companies go wrong because of this, it was the same mistake that happened with Binanace Trust wallet plugin on PC, lucky they pay all those affected back, if it was a new one that's the end.

Somehow I still prefer the old version way of storing Bitcoin, creating offline wallet or using the old Bitcoin wallet like Electrum gives me better feelings than all these new hardware wallet companies.

Electrum wallet over everything else, my asset my choice.
It's okay for people with hardware wallets as they would already know that they will need an update. This is also the same with people who use other applications because updating is something that developers must do to anticipate fraud or hacks from hackers or scammers.

Whatever the wallet, we can choose what suits us and our choices will be different. We are also free to choose what wallet we will use because the convenience factor in using it is what we want and are looking for.

And we can also see lists of wallets for Bitcoin on the bitcoin.org site. There are already instructions for what wallet you might be looking for. All you have to do is follow it.

Since you are unable to find an official reseller for Trezor/Ledger in your country yet, it is always better to purchase them straight from the official website instead of trusting Amazon where the fake sellers deliver us with malicious products which can be risky for storing larger amount of funds. With regards to storing the seedphrase, one viable solution for storing them safely is to engrave them in simple metal washers and to load them onto a screw and locking them with a nut at the bottom.
Ledger is no more a good wallet. The company do not care about their customers privacy at all and they support users to backup their seed phrase with third parties.

Actually there are several reasons because for some hard wallets such as Ledger or Trezor I still haven't found an official reseller in my country it makes me a little hesitant if I buy in some e-commerce that I see here Ledger Reseller and Trezor Reseller while Safepal already exists.
for the second reason maybe because I have failed when buying trezor before so I want to try to anticipate the same thing happening actually.
and the last one is from the actual price Cheesy My condition is not good in finance these few months but I still want a Hardwere wallet. Although I realise when the price is cheap there will definitely be some weaknesses but for now I still feel it is still good enough.

1. I would suggest looking into reputable package forwarders in your place. For instance, if you wanna buy smth in the USA but they don't ship to your place, you can use the address of the package forwarder in the USA. After your parcel arrives at their warehouse, the package forwarder can now ship them to you.

2. Try to look into https://wallets.thebitcoinhole.com/ for discounts. In addition, a couple of months from now, black friday sale comes and we can expect another wave of discounts.

Honestly maybe it's about taxes to enter a country but I'm not too sure about this kind of thing and indeed to make some purchases for another hardwere wallet in the future (not too sure about the time but will definitely look for a new hardwere wallet) especially if it comes from an official site maybe I will learn about taxes or customs in my country so as not to be too surprised and know systematically about shipping from abroad.

Better to learn it I'd say. I'm not sure about your place but in my hometown, there are people who overcharge so they can keep a portion of the fee  Sad

otherwise maybe check if your item price was wrongly declared.

OP it would have been better you verified to know exactly if the call that came in informing you of the arrival of your parcel was a genuine one either by you going to their office with your wife to verify or other means as well because the initial is far much better the later.

I saw the wallet you purchased is a safepal wallet which does not really guarantee any thing Safety and they are not as sophisticated as you assume they are mate. Your Crypto assets is not really secured mate.

But a few weeks later there was a call from my country's Customs saying that my package had been delayed and that I had to pay approximately $35 for my package to be sent immediately.
I also bought Trezor on the official website at the beginning thinking that I would not be asked for shipping by the sender but after the goods arrived I was confirmed that I had to pay approximately $35 for this item to be sent immediately, I was forced to pay and the goods arrived at my home, but I was also surprised to have to pay a large customs fee, maybe that has become a regulation.

But strangely when I bought goods from GazetaBitcoin at a more expensive price that I bought on the Trezor site only asked for $2 to redeem it, I was a little strange how come the goods were cheaper the customs bill than the big price?

Is buying from individuals and companies different? Ah well.

But congrats on the first wallet my friend. Cheesy
Hey man, we're having the same problem, it's just that I'm not paying for it and you're paying for it, which makes the results different. But with things like this then it does mean that the person calling me is genuine from customs not a scam and it has been validated.

Though Safepal has never open-sourced their software, they are planning to do so in the near future but the backing from Binance is one of the biggest selling point for them. On the other hand, the first wallet which you have purchased (Trezor) is completely open source including it's hardware and software which allows us to verify the code rather than trusting the makers blindly in storing our assets.

@fillippone has written a great detailed thread on Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers and it has helped really a lot of people in storing the seeds safely in a secure location. You can purchase a Blockmit Jig from cryptocloaks for $8 instead of 3D printing them on your own as well. The maximum cost for creating such a secure way of seed storing would cost no more than $25 for you and probably you can reuse the Jigs and Metal stamps for recreating your seeds indefinitely.
True, this is one of my considerations to buy on the official website directly rather than having to buy on E-commerce which in the end this is not too sure in security because the price is also not too much different even better directly on the official website if there are no resellers. I thought about this only that I did not know about the taxation system on goods coming in from abroad which surprised me before but indeed when I find out about this I will probably try to buy again.

Btw thanks for the link you provided I will see that as new teaching material again for me.

After the unsuccessful and canceled purchase of trezor, you had to choose hardware wallet among the many other ([BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)) that currently exist. So what was the reason for the choice in favor of SafePal? What advantages did you see in this device?

This topic is best placed in section Hardware wallets.
It turns out there's still a lot I haven't explored on this forum because there are so many new links I've received as good references now.

The reason I've answered that in my previous post although it might not satisfy you too much because that reason is purely from my conditions.
For reviews I may still not be able to provide reviews for now because there must be some experiments first but it does not rule out the possibility that I will review this after I use this wallet for some time.

OP, based on the search I have carried out for the best hardware wallet to use, Trezor has always been the top reference. Even a few old folks that I happen to know as old-time Bitcoiners use the Trezor. Safepal is not usually at the top of the list of recommended hardware wallets, and I believe the reason why it's so is because it's not very safe compared to Trezor and Ledger.

Cheers 🥂, Dr.Bitcoin_Strange 👺👺

Ledger is toasted my friend, not recommendable anymore, maybe you aren't aware of what just happened with ledger hardware wallets? I have this feeling that anything can still happen to any wallet at any time, the moment you start using them is the safest, the long er you use them for the weaker they get, this is just how I feel and that is why I use a wallet not more than a year and I switch to a freshly created wallet, I still have hardware wallet though but I prefer spreading my assets out instead, Vulnerability can happen at any time, even with open source secured wallets.
The wallets will be safe forever until you keep the private keys secured but the problem with hardware wallet is we need to trust the manufacturer for the data we are giving while we buy and IP logs used to buy are stored in their online services so just like any hacks the data stored in the Trezor and any trusted manufacturer may be stolen and it will be a threat to our privacy. So you can keep the assets safe even with data leaks cause the private keys are stored in the device alone not anywhere in the online just like our data.

This is not true, wallets don't get weaker the longer you use them, but what can happen is that the wallet developers can introduce bad implementations as time goes on, this is what happened to Wasabi, Ledger and even Trezor, if that happens you can stop using the wallet and switch to a different one that still maintains the BTC standard.

If you are using a recommended open source wallet that didn't make any negative changes to how they operate, there is no need changing wallets regularly, you should only do that when it is necessary. Take note that spreading your assets into too many wallets gives you the problem of too many backups.

At least assuming that you want a hardware wallet to further secure your assets, it's still a good thing, although there's still some debate about whether or not Safepal is recommended.
That's a good thing in my opinion even if there are some conditions where you have some problems about this before so you decide to buy this wallet.
I also have safepal and am still using it at the moment even though it is with sober bitcoins Cheesy But so far I am quite fine as long as we are careful and not careless in the seed I still feel it is worth using.

To be honest, I haven't heard about Safepal, and I'm not sure if it's a truly safe choice for storing your Bitcoin. However, after i did some research, I discovered that it has received positive reviews and is considered reliable. It appears to be a good option, but it's important to be careful while using it and ensure that you don't disclose your seed phrase or any sensitive information online.

Personally, I am currently using an airgapped device and so far I haven't encountered any issues with it. Since transactions are performed offline and manually using the Electrum wallet, it provides a high level of security. I also believe that hardware wallets like Trezor could be an excellent alternative. Unfortunately, they do not ship to my country which is why I am using an airgapped device at the moment.

It's like I said, it will be fine actually because there are still many who use electrum but with my laziness, especially for electrum, which is just copying the existing seed, I am sometimes lazy to rewrite it and that is indeed one of the main problems I have.
As for this, I am a little more intentional because this must at least be written so that we do not lose our seeds.
What you wrote here is not too clear to me, but take note that backing up your seed phrase on paper takes the same process in a software wallet as in a hardware wallet, you must have a back up of your seed phrase written down and stored in more than one location. What do you mean by "copying the existing seed"? The seed phrase in either an Electrum software wallet or a recommended hardware wallet isn't pre-generated, it will be generated as you set up the wallet.

Just mainly due to curiosity — not saying that SafePal is bad or whatever(I have no idea because I never researched it), but how did you end up picking SafePal? Knowing that the Bitcoiner hardware wallet trio is Trezor-Ledger-ColdCard.
My thoughts too, when it comes to hardware wallets I believe only two names comes to mind for me.. which is Trezor and Ledger especially if one has to consider compatibility with other Blockchains.
And a Google search of bitcoin hardware wallets will also narrow it down to these two, which shows how popular and reliable they are.

After the unsuccessful and canceled purchase of trezor, you had to choose hardware wallet among the many other ([BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)) that currently exist.
Thanks for the share...

Took a quick peep of what's available, wondering why the Secure Wallet isn't as popular as Trezor or Ledger wallets...I mean  the wallet has support for over a 1000 cryptocurrencies and nobody talks about them Huh Did these guys do something wrong..maybe lose someone's coins or something??

The picture looks like S1, which is a little cheaper than what you first ordered (Trezor). But I would not consider it foolishness like you have tagged it, but I will say it's being more careful in order not to lose funds to scammers. A lot of things are happening these days, and you never can tell when they are the ones trying to manipulate your order or the real custom. Be that as it may, it all ended up that you got your funds back and you have taken note of the approach that was used to reach out to you by the custom agents.

Congratulations on taking a step further in ways of protecting your Bitcoin holdings.
But according to this , Safepal hardware wallet review and opinions It's said to be that Safepal's hardware wallet is closed source, which could make it not as safe as it might seem to be unless the developers behind it could no one else could be able to read and verify the code to know what they are really up to in the background.
Yep, at first I thought it was a scam because honestly I've never ordered anything from overseas before except maybe from some e-commerce which usually does ship immediately but this was a little different so it was something new for me.
Thanks for the link I'll have a look at it and I do realise all forms are not as safe as they are made out to be so I'm going to start being more cautious about this and it'll probably just be a temporary wallet before I get something I think is worth it.

However, given the cases of people losing their assets on Electrum, even though it may have been their own negligence,
Hot wallets are prone to hacking, the people who lost their BTC's on Electrum either had it on a hot wallet and fell for the tricks of scammers or they exposed their seed phrase. If you run Electrum on an air-gapped device and you know what you are doing, then it is as secure as a hardware wallet.
I'm wary because I realise that I'm one of those people who can be very careless and still make mistakes when it comes to seed storage.
Even with your hardware wallet you have to store your seed phrase in a secure location, if you are careless or make a mistake with it, you'll still lose your funds just as you'll do with a software or hot wallet.

Safepal isn't one of the recommended hardware wallets you can get, neither is Trezor anyway, because of their implementation of wasabi CoinJoin which is pro-surveillance. Safepal is a closed soure hardware wallet and they don't support things like full node, multi-sig, coin control or other wallet software, like Electrum, i don't think it is a great idea to use a hardware wallet with this many flaws and so much more i didn't mention.

For the condition about Safepal I will pay more attention to the suggestions of some friends and I will review first whether this can continue to be done here or not but btw thanks to the suggestions you gave I will pay attention to this.

When I've ordered a hardware wallet, customs didn't asked nor call me but it varies per country. Safepal from what I've heard has got good reviews.
I can't be sure whether the call was genuine or not but certainly after the call was from a person claiming to be a customs employee and asking for some money on the grounds of taxes etc. and I didn't serve it automatically my order seemed to be returned by force and my money was also returned because I failed to get the package I wanted.

A hardware wallet is always superior to a hot wallet. Its security is nearly impenetrable because transaction confirmations must be made through the device. While I am unfamiliar with the Safepal wallet, it appears to have earned trust among lists of hardware wallets. Personally, I have been using a Ledger wallet since the start of my hardware wallet experience. Congratulations on prioritizing the safety of your funds! Just remember to store your seed phrase in a secure location.
This is my consideration to strengthen security with a hardware wallet.
Indeed, sometimes about a product (in this case a hardware wallet) there will definitely be pros and cons when talking about satisfaction and security and trust but that can still be said to be reasonable because all have their own opinions and experiences but for now I will probably use this because this is my first hard wallet but it does not rule out the possibility of looking for a hardware wallet that can be said to be better like Ledger or some other suggestions from people who have experienced it in the future.

Just mainly due to curiosity — not saying that SafePal is bad or whatever(I have no idea because I never researched it), but how did you end up picking SafePal? Knowing that the Bitcoiner hardware wallet trio is Trezor-Ledger-ColdCard.

Hardware wallet is one of the most ideal investment because in the long run this is the most secured you have your own private keys actually this is my first time seeing that kind of wallet its seems like larger than the usual hardware wallet like the Trezor and Ledger. Well keep your keys safe duplicate as possible so you won't regret when you lose it there's coin inside of it.
Congrats with your hardware wallet!

Cheesy

I think it would be better for the OP to use the Electrum airgap wallet rather than the SafePal hardware wallet.
Take note that there is no "Electrum air-gapped wallet", Electrum is an online software wallet, but you can set it up as an air-gapped wallet yourself if you know what you are doing. The difference between setting up your own air-gapped wallet and buying a hardware wallet is that the former is hard for newbies to set up and use in a safe enviroment, while the latter is easier for them to use.

When we invest, the initial capital to do so besides money is of course a wallet.
Wallets are tools for you to store your coins. You can use free or paid wallets but don't think if you buy a wallet, it is better than a free wallet software. It depends on what wallet you buy or use. If you buy a bad hardware wallet, it is not better than you use a free open source non custodial wallet.

There are so many wallets out there today and I've been quite happy in the last few years to use Electrum as my wallet to store my assets.
However, given the cases of people losing their assets on Electrum, even though it may have been their own negligence, I'm wary because I realise that I'm one of those people who can be very careless and still make mistakes when it comes to seed storage.
Electrum wallet is safe and you can use the Electrum wallet as your hot wallet or your cold wallet.

People lost their coins because they are careless, it is not because quality of Electrum wallet. They can learn and use Electrum wallet with multisig or cold wallet.

According to what I know about the wallet, which is S1, which is SafePal's hardware wallet rather than Trezor, I think it would be better for the OP to use the Electrum airgap wallet rather than the SafePal hardware wallet because of a security flaw that was discovered about the wallet years ago.

Trezor has official resellers in multiple countries so that could be one way of avoiding import taxes if you live in one of those countries. There also have Amazon shops, although it is only in the US and some EU countries version of Amazon so you would still have to pay a fee if you're outside those regions.

Safepal is a wallet I have seen advertised a lot and have seen some YouTube videos about this wallet. It is a fully offline wallet that communicates to internet connected devices through QR codes. It is a secure wallet if you are looking to store altcoins. For Bitcoin it is still good enough but it is not as fully featured as a Trezor, Ledger, or ColdCard.

Either you have the software wallet or the hardware wallet none of it must go missing remember to keep it somewhere safe as one that didn't know of it might want to misuse it upon seeing it.
Software wallets are not physical devices like hardware wallets, with software wallets you just have to download the wallet software on your mobile or desktop device and run it, it is hardware wallets that holds your keys in a physical device. With either of them though you have to back up your seed phrase in more than one secure location.
While I am unfamiliar with the Safepal wallet, it appears to have earned trust among lists of hardware wallets.
No, Safepal wallet hasn't earned the trust of the community, it is not a recommended hardware wallet to buy.

I understand your regret unfortunately it often happens with parcels arriving from abroad to be stopped for customs fees.
In all honesty, I don't know much about that wallet, I've only seen it on Amazon a few times.  I am always skeptical about multicurrency wallets so for this reason I do not take it into consideration.
So if your country can be reached by these brands my choice would be Coldcard or Bitbox 02 btc only.

In everything you are doing one fact remains that you are trying to secure your funds which is reasonable and that is why you are being cautious with your actions. Either you have the software wallet or the hardware wallet none of it must go missing remember to keep it somewhere safe as one that didn't know of it might want to misuse it upon seeing it.

So, we have different hardware wallets but that's okay because we're all having the same thoughts to keep our assets safe through storing it there.

Those folks and members of the forum that has a growing portfolio and still don't own a hardware wallet, it's now time for you guys to consider owning one.

Nice option to choose from I have been planning to get one hard wallet for my Bitcoin storage Trezo wallet and if it shipping to my country won't be too high I will stick to the Trezo hardware wallet because the last time I checked the cost of shipping to my region was more than half of the price of the device on Trezo website but that was during covid lockdown and since then I haven't tried the item again to see if the process has changed.
This is a good idea to secure your retirement asset in a secured wallet other than relying on online wallets that are prone to hacks.

When we invest, the initial capital to do so besides money is of course a wallet. This is now the third year (approaching year 4) that I've been using bitcoin as one of my investment tools to support my retirement in addition to some other investments in property.
With some consideration I decided to buy a hard wallet to make me more secure and comfortable in storing my assets. A little story, previously my choice was Trezor because I saw some conditions and reviews from some of my closest friends so I chose it for the first choice and I had ordered the item several months ago.
However, because I am a worker where I have to leave in the morning and go home in the afternoon so I decided to use my wife email and number to order because she is at home every day.
But it turned out that I was wrong because precisely by ignoring that, my package was actually like a forced refund for some reason that made my money returned Cheesy I consider this foolishness for me because maybe I was wrong but I still want a Hard Wallet for my bitcoin storage.
After a lot of drama with my first choice, I finally decided to buy this Wallet last week with many considerations.

Although this wallet is not only focused on bitcoin because there are some features that I will not use and of course there are some disadvantages but I will use this wallet for storing my bitcoin assets at this time. But I will probably only use this for a while because I still want something else for my Hardware Wallet.

I do have Safepal S1 but never funded it until now. I still stick with the good ol' Ledger to store my Bitcoin and other important crypto assets.

But at least congrats on having your first hardware wallet which I think it's the most affordable in the market as of this time of writing.
