I think the currency created by vitalik buterin with his friend in 2013 and most likely will rise, in 2018 this bitcoin price down eth will be the second alternative way, for the bitcoiner although eth can not compete with bitcoin but eth now has a pretty good price to be invested in the year 2018.
Ethereum's price is very low now, and I think this time is one of the best chances to have more ethereum. In my opinion, there are many traders who are looking forward to see its price high, and I am one of them and of course I believe it has a great potential for the future. 
I heard many experts say that Ethereum would someday overcome Bitcoin, but would it be soon or not, I dont know

Right. The coins built and developed on the ERC20 platform are all potential coin and are on the top 10 most popular currencies. So ETH can completely replace Bitcoin position
What I strongly agree with is the fact that ethereum has a much better use-case than bitcoin. At the end of the day, if bitcoin is not implemented as a mainstream payment method in our daily lives, its function is redundant. On the other hand, ethereum has much better use-case whereby develops can create platform on top of it. The only issues I see with it is scalability at the moment, as well as the fact that its a specialized programming language Solidity that is required (which is not a bad thing, but many developers are still new to it).
Ether is the best coin to invest now there is lots of successful ICO already implemented on ethereum blockchain its already running well . Lots of ICO's are coming based on ethereum blockchain . And also may be casper POS will be implemented in ethereum blockchain .
i think etherium was like parent for altcoin together with bitcoin, maybe etherium will never surpass bitcoin, and they always stay together at the top off standing coin.
I truly believe in Ethereum. I think it is one of the best coins at the moment. We all can observe its progression, comparing to other altcoins. A lot of projects are based on its technology and the demand for it is growing. It has a great potential.

Yes ethereum is a good project, the smart contract seems to be useful as many new ICOs has adopted that technology. We just need to wait how far this ETH chasing the dust of Bitcoin or might overtake them sooner.
What?! The price of bitcoin... are you serious? This will not happen in the next few years. Ethereum technology is good, but it's still a long time to grow to bitcoin.
My favor is on the side of ETH as well, BTC is good and famous, but currently ETH is making a much bigger effect on the crypto and economic world and its dominance is just a question of time.
