Your story is really touching, and I hope it serves as a lesson to you and every other persons that will come across this.

Such a thing has never happened to me, because I am an occasional gambler, this is to say that, I only gamble when I have some extra money I don't mind losing, gambling shouldn't be seen as a means of making money, just gamble for the fun of it, and if you win money in the process, then that's your luck, and never try gambling with money you can't afford to lose.

Can't say waste totally because in the first place we intentionally did it and I believe we feel the rush every time we put those quarters in the machine and then seeing those reels roll in our very own eyes. Waste is when you lost your money in the streets by accident. That is more painful because you didn't have fun or anything.

Realizing that you don't have any money left and then you need to work hard again for the next 13 days or so to get your next salary should wake you up from the reality and you will think twice again next time from playing gambling recklessly. We can do some practice like paying our bills first or do the groceries first before we play if ever playing gambling is unavoidable, so that we won't worry once we lose all the money that is left.

Definitely, it is true. I will never call gambling as bad. It is undoubtedly a good thing if you can keep yourself entertained for a while in this mechanical life. But whenever it crosses the limit of entertainment, it is no longer normal. Makes life miserable. So those things should be avoided. So don't try to exceed your limitations.

Damn, that is surely bad. I know a person who did the same and he basically emptied all his college fees in something.
Just like you even he was not allowed to write the exams. But I hope you learnt a lesson from this event and never repeated such an act.
Gambling is not a bad thing but it's definitely bad when we do it over the limits.

I admit that when we won a game and maybe when we get a winstreak that's the time we will have the feeling that we need to play and play more because there's a possibility that it is our "lucky day", so when we experience losing in a particular round we feel that we need to gamble again just for us to get back what we already lost, it is very hard to discipline ourselves but that is the thing we need to do.

In gambling, there are really risks. You have to know them to avoid encountering and if ever you do encounter them, minimize their effect. I have a bad experience too in gambling. This one would be categorized in gambling more than what you can afford to lose. I happen to know that it is risky to invest and bet in something that you are not knowledgeable of, but I still risked the chance. Way back, I was one of those who are curious and explorative but not really strategic so instead of it becoming the success I'm dreaming of, it became a nightmare.

I risked into investing in NFT back then without really digging proper background of it. The hype it got was at its peak so I decided to give it a try. However, shit really happens from time to time and it slowly faded into background. Although it's still ongoing until now, I don't have the confidence that it will soar as high as before. Or even soar a little because of the short demand of it. But the good thing about it is I learned my lesson. It's just that I learned it the hard way. Since there's no point in crying over a spilled milk, I just licked it and started over again. You see, in every tragedy, we learn a lesson or two. And I think that's the most important part. Although if you can, do your best  to learn from others experiences and mistakes so you won't suffer the same hardship, unless you are a masochist.

In gambling it always gives us great hope to get something we want, but sometimes it is not easy for us to have even we lose valuables to be able to get more than the goods, and we must have awareness when playing if we have gained an advantage then no longer force to continue the game that is greater than the profit, don't be too ambitious because not everything we hope we can get.

^ It is a very simple answer, put a limit on yourself and discipline yourself as much as possible.
However, we have a lot of worse days in gambling but I think not that worst because I know how to control myself from eagerness. Only gamble on what you can afford, either win or lose, it will not hurt your wallet. Sometimes if I feel that luck was not on my side, I take a break and come back when everything was right. If you gamble based on luck games, the chances of losing your fund are very high.

And that will make us addicted after playing gambling for a while and we can't control the addiction. Many people have experienced that experience. Still, most people probably realize what addiction is and whether they have really got addicted because all they do is seek pleasure from gambling. Agree with you. I think we can control the losses by allocating a certain amount of money to gamble every month and really sticking to it. The amount of money mentioned must be adjusted to the state of the funds we have because there may be some people who don't use that amount of money, including me, to play gambling. Thus, we will not be very sorry when we lose playing gambling and will still really limit ourselves in playing gambling.

We have different experiences in terms of the worst day ever in our life. One of my experiences is having a good winning streak in the slot games, and because of too much hoping to win the game, I tried to make an extension to the game I'm playing, hoping to get another profit at the same time, and upon this is I make a set with the automatic spins, so it's didn't too much hassle to me to spin. I forgot those set large amounts and continuously bet losing instead of having a good bet and profit; it's loss and negative gains.

I lost a big amount for no gain - standing at zero. But now I am working double shift- I dont have time to gamble and I dont have time to rest because I have to payoff a hefty loan.

It was a very big mistake, you can't use school fees for gambling.
You must understand that the chance to make money from gambling is very low. You are too confident if you think it will be easy to multiply money on gambling. Even experienced gamblers won't use their primary money for gambling, they must use the extra money for gambling purposes.

However, you must take a big lesson from that worse day. In the future, you must use safe money for gambling, never use primary funds. You must know that a gambler needs to know how to manage their gambling budget and has good self-control. So, no excessive gambling to happen, no primary money to spend in gambling.

I have also experienced some unforgettable losses way back then but I must say, it’s not as worst as you experienced OP. And the fact that playing all-in could contribute more losses than expected that will eventually drain whatever you have in your pocket, and sad to say OP fall for this. The reason why we should never chase our losses whether in gambling or trading, once we think our luck has gone out, it’s better to call it a day and return some other day for a new hope and luck.

We are all tired of saying and hearing: "don't bet more than what you can lose", but there are people who still insist on doing the opposite and that's why we are reading your report.
You were very lucky to start out winning, and you should have stopped when you got back to your starting bankroll... because in the end the house always wins.

I think there is a better term for that and it is greediness.  Due to greediness, a gambler tends to bet more and gamble his winnings in hope of getting more winnings.


I quite agree that we need to accept any result from our gambling activities.  We need to accept them and move on so that we can avoid the scenario of chasing losses.  Whether we win or lose in our previous gambling activities, we must start fresh everytime we engage in gambling activities.  Of course we also need to trace our funds movement and plan for our next action responsibly.


Obviously, it is wrong and I believe OP also acknowledges his mistake.  I also think that every gambler here in the forum had their own version of OP's story which serves as a stepping stone in getting a better adjustment in their gambling activities.

That's so good for you! Not all people have that kind of mindset because I admit that I have had my share of worst days in gambling in the past years as aside from luck, I'm also struggling to limit myself because I'm thinking that I should get what I lost or greed takes the lead that's why I eventually lost more. Gladly, I managed to overcome those habits and I only gamble rarely nowadays.
