KGW cannot cope with such a situation... it actually makes things worse... because the difficulty falls so low after such an incident that it can hours or even days for the diff to resettle... and most often because of the extreme fall in difficulty after an episode... it triggers the multi-pools again and so it becomes a death spiral.

PotCoin(POT) was taken off-line for nearly 24 hours because of this and the dev team had to negotiate with multi-pool admin to solve the problem...

Hmm good point.. I think I'll try to run some simulations on KGW to figure out how it reacts under those circumstances...
Thanks!

NLG has KGW... I believe this solves the problem of getting stuck at high diff.

However, huge spikes in hash/sec would still be a problem. Miners that can get a ROI now will leave once some GH/s are added. Then when the GH/s are gone we're left with a few KH/s.. I wouldn't want to see that..

If this is indeed what coinwarz is all about, then I wouldn't recommend voting on it. Since MH/s is somewhat related to the trade value of the coin (ROI), we're probably best off with miners that join the network manually and choose to stick with NLG because they trust the coin. Not because they can get a good ROI in the coming 3 minutes.

go here - http://coinz.cryptoid.info/diff/?pot - and look at the time period between April 22 and May 13... the difficulty spiked from 20-ish to over 15,000... took POT off-line for hours.

NLG has far more adoption now than POT did when this happened... and incident like this will make merchants hesitate or maybe even refuse to accept NLG for payment.

If I were on the NLG dev team, I would go to extreme efforts to keep NLG from listing on Coinwarz for as long as possible.

I really like this stuff but hardly understand how the bloackchain actually works.
Anyone know a nice site with some more explanation?

And, is it possible to play with the downloaded blockchain in my little Windows 7 (home) machine, or is this impossible?

First you should read the satoshi whitepaper: https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
Then read some more stuff about blockchain. Just google for articles and sniff through bitcoin wiki.
Once you know how it works. Interact with it trough the API's that are provided by guldencoin-qt or guldencoind (build from source).
These API's are the same as bitcoin's ones: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Original_Bitcoin_client/API_Calls_list
There are libraries for several languages that can help you to talk to the guldencoind right away: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/API_reference_%28JSON-RPC%29

The current network hash-rate is about 400Mh/s with a diff of 16, when these multi-pool roll in with 10Gh/s or more, the difficulty will go to 400 plus and then the multi-pool leaves the network 'stuck' there, while the base mining hash-rate has to hash for hours to find the next block, completely paralysing the network for hours. During this time no coin or transactions can be confirmed, so in essence the coin is not usable for this time. I have seen coin networks stalled for up to 8 hours or more. That is it 8 hours between the last block found by the multi-pool until the next block is found by the regular miners.

STOP VOTING ON COINWARZ!!!

In case of Guldencoin is has the benefits of more awareness. When it is listed, at first it will be positive I think. But as you mentioned, multipools jumping in and out could stress the network. I think if that becomes negative, the team can always ask to be delisted again

There is no benefit to the 'awareness' that Coinwarz will bring... only miners use Coinwarz... not end users that will use NLG to buy sandwiches at Subway or etc.

Delisting does not work as the coin will stay on the multi-pool algo even after it is delisted. Look at KlondikeCoin(KDC) it was being hit by multi-pools who still thought the block reward was 8 for weeks after the block reward had halved to 4... multi-pools do not care... they exist for one purpose only... mine the most profitable coin against LTC and BTC and dump the coins to buy LTC and BTC.

The most successful alt-coins are still not listed on Coinwarz... they are growing slowly and steadily in the shadows... building a solid user base and miner base that sells the coins for a better profit and often holding coins for the longer term, even if is it only for a few weeks for a better price.

Ok, good you mention this and it makes sence. We are now on the 4th place in the votinglist. Within 4 weeks we will be listed, because every wednesday no.1 gets listed. So time to think about what we will do.

If most members and devs are against coinwarz, then we should be delisted off the votinglist as well.

(I had the example of Casinocoin on coinwarz, that had a rise in difficulty and rise in price at the same time, without being dumped. It has changed its KGW to Digishield, wich is more stable for big hashingpower shifts.)

Feel free to message me directly with your questions. I think I know a thing or two about the blockchain, so I hope I can help.
Maybe after we get to answer your questions you should write a post about it?

STOP VOTING ON COINWARZ!!!

Getting listed on Coinwarz will place NLG under tremendous sell pressure. Coinwarz is nothing more than a listing service that multi-pools use to mine the most 'profitable' coin. The miners that Coinwarz will attract will have no interest in holding NLG. A listing on Coinwarz will place the NLG network under stress and possible forking when the big multipools roll through with multi-Gh/s.

Keep NLG in the shadows and let the coin and network grow organically. Coinwarz will make NLG just another coin for the multi-pools to mine and dump.

STOP VOTING ON COINWARZ NOW!!!

Higher hashrate, lower price then?

Coinwarz provides an API call that many multi-pools use for coin switching. These multi-pools can have up to 40Gh/s or more at their disposal. The sole reason these multi-pools exist is mine the most 'profitable' coin to be dumped on the exchanges for BTC or LTC which then paid out to the miners. They hold no coins except BTC or LTC unless it is a POS multi-pool such as the BlackCoin pool where the payout is in BC which is not longer mineable since is now a POS coin only.

All the coins mined by multi-pools are dumped on the exchange within 48 hours at the fill order price, so the price is severely depressed.

And this vicious just repeats itself again and again.

Try buying a Subway when the transaction cannot be confirmed for 2 or 3 hours... that will kill NLG.

DO NOT VOTE FOR COINWARZ!!!

A little analyse from the post of GeertJohan (thanks for this info):

So, there are 4 big miners at the moment out of 35 (last 5000 blocks), 1 has recently stopped (he/she mined 15.3 M NLG of 72.2 M NLG!!). Despite the rise of total hashrate, less miners over time as it seems.

We can get a lot more miners via http://www.coinwarz.com/voting

Some of those addresses are pools.  I'm going to take a guess that "HaRg" is the hardcore pool.  My pool is in there as well.  The "DPhi" address though is not a public pool.  That is a miner.  A large miner.  Or it's a private pool with a lot of power behind it.  That is probably our dumper.

100MH miner I've mentioned before, PM me and let me know if you're in that list.  If you're willing of course.  It would be interesting to know.

For people speaking (or better reading) Dutch, there is a Guldencoin newssite.
Today this site announced a nice article about future potential of Guldencoin at http://guldencoinforum.com/index.php/topic,384.0.html .

And better, no commercials, only pure Guldencoin promotional adds  Grin

Voting on Coinwartz many times every day! So for sure, one day we will enter this one!

Within 3 or 4 weeks we should be there!

Price of NLG has stabilised and rising slowly but steady now. All buyorder numbers from 82 up to 101 filled, without gabs. Good sign, I think!

You're correct. As I said: the program isn't perfect yet. It's showing the global lines but it's still missing those strange blocks. I also just fixed a bug that omitted some tx addresses.

We'll might create a small site for this showing these numbers and updating every hour or so..

I'm not sure the figures are 100% correct.  Both my pool and personal addresses are in the lists, but the numbers don't quite correspond with what I'm seeing on my end as total mined coin.  Can you clarify how you got the values that you've calculated?
