Just curious.. How do the 5 seat coins work? Will our seats show up on https://nastyfans.org/ when Nonnakip finds time to implement that or do we need to mint 5 seats or?

Just wanted to express again how happy I am with the monumental effort everyone involved here has put in to making NastyFans as great as it is.   I'm happy to be part of a mining operation that's shown commitment to integrity and transparency.   With the recent situation in Greece, a colleague of mine took an interest in bitcoin, and I was happy to get him started.   I then told him about NastyFans and he's purchased several seats because he sees the value of NastyFans and the benefits of being a part of this group.   I'm happy to see the recent uptick in price too, I think this is a result of the management and the active role the fans play as well here.   The three year anniversary was a big milestone, there's been a lot of groups that have had huge initial interest only to become a scam or something that didn't weather the changing world of crypto currency.  Yet here we are today a part of something bigger, and well...I just wanted to say thanks everyone, and it's great to bring others into the fold on something as great as we have here.

Thank you very much for the kind words.  I am also very happy to be a part of such a great organization.

Have you guys considered doing a group buy + hosting of mining hardware?

Not only will we get somewhat cheaper hardware, but we will get significantly cheaper hosting rates if we colocate them all together for a long fixed term (I know a hosting provider with large volume discounts). Could be worth looking into, if you want me to run some numbers.

I'd be super interested in pitching in myself for some hardware this way, because most small customers pay a premium for being small! I think this could be a valuable service for the mining community.

I've considered it.  I know the toomim brothers have a nice operation.  If there are fans interested in helping to foot the bill for something like this, I am sure I would be able to find those willing to donate equipment.  NastyMining hasn't pursued this because I pay all of the electricity costs personally, so I cannot afford to pay for hosting all of the equipment that people have been willing to donate as a long term plan.  A few years ago we were involved with a couple group buys with hosting.  Most of them turned out to be scams, and the ones that weren't made very little profit.  I think the preference for me personally would be for fans to step up and host a unit on behalf of NastyFans, but I realize that isn't a realistic expectation.  There is an interesting USB miner project by sidehack that will produce a very energy efficient USB miner that fans may be more willing to host.  The hashrate is pretty low, but perhaps giving away a few of these sticks might be a way to encourage more fan mining participation as a way to continue growing the distributions.

OgNasty,
Can you explain how 'host a unit on behalf of NastyFans' would work?  I may be willing to host a unit or 2 depending on how it works.

Finding someplace like Toomim might make it possible to do something like this, the biggest thing would be the hardware acquisition.

Figure a 60TH farm operating at 30Kw would be around $2500/month for the hosting returning roughly 18BTC a month at today's diff.  That would end up roughly 2BTC / week to fans distributions after paying the hosting cost.

However, for the moment I wouldn't consider doing it until we see what the next gen hardware is like, as I have a feeling we'll see new hardware before summer is out which will throw everything into chaos for a little while until the implementations complete and the diff stabilizes.  Then there's that little thing about a halving coming around the corner also... Smiley

Some updated performance numbers and charts for you.  This was a good quarter all around with increases across the board.

Due to the holiday weekend, I would like to have the live chat tomorrow at 12:00pm PST which is in just over 24 hours.  Sorry for the late notice, but my schedule was up in the air until now.

Cross posting this for those of you who aren't following the action in the 5oz coin thread.  I've shipped out the orders and we should start seeing pictures of them in the wild as early as tomorrow.

I'm done engraving and packaging for tonight.  Thought I would leave a couple teaser images.

I have a question about using the suggested diff setting for my miners. I have 2 antminer s3's that I'm using in the pool under one payout address. Up until this point I have not set the diff and noticed my charts have large spikes. I've read mixed reviews on setting the diff. Some people have stated that they noticed a larger number of stales ect when specifying the diff. Should I be setting the diff for this pool? If so should I be setting it for 256 or 512 because I have two workers on one payout address?

NastyPool pays out based on detected hashrate. It does not matter what your reject rates are. The important thing is the hashrate NastyPool detects matches the hashrate you expect from your miner.

If you have 2 antminer s3's mining to the same address using the same miner username and host and port then you should see the average hashrate on the miner page around 900 GH/s (450 x 2). If that is the case then you do not need to concern yourself with anything else.

Those look great.  Are they all gone?
I have to tell you, I got mine on Saturday and the pictures don't do it any justice at all!

Hello everyone.

I'm a new miner so, pardon the agitating newbie question. TIA
Personally, I don't bother with the diff settings.  I played around with it a long time back when I first started with p2pool, but for the past year I've not bothered and let it auto-adjust.  The best thing you can do with Antminers is make sure the queue is set to 0 and make sure you're running a most recent stable firmware.  You can search the p2pool thread for "s3 firmware p2pool" and read up on that.
