Then once enough time has passed I will do a final auction of coins that went unclaimed by winners which will have proceeds distributed to all NastyFans seats.

I'm still awaiting quite a few addresses for the winners of this giveaway...  If you haven't received your coin, please make sure that you have checked with nonnakip to make sure that you have provided the requested information.  I sent out the coins to addresses I received immediately, so if you haven't received yours please double check that you've provided your address.  I had all these coins engraved and ready to go so people could get them quickly!  I want to get you your prizes as that was my intent with this giveaway and don't want to do any more auctions for new buyers until the winners have been sent their winnings!

The first auction from this giveaway is underway now here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ended-nastyfans-minted-seats-from-giveaway-5342882

This is for coins won by seats held by NastyMining as a result of our recent buyback.  These coins will be sold (I put in starting bids to make sure) this weekend and the funds will be sent to NastyMining's holdings.  This will help restore funds that were spent on the giveaway, which is pretty cool.  Once these are all sold, I will be able to auction coins won by Minted Seats with funds being distributed to the "Minted Seats Collective" as nonnakip calls it.  Then once enough time has passed I will do a final auction of coins that went unclaimed by winners which will have proceeds distributed to all NastyFans seats.

Would be nice if you could explain the difference between a minted seat holder and an online seat holder who both have accounts registered. How can you prove who one is but not the other?

This is far from flawless - flawless would mean 100% satisfaction with the results and you do not have that.

Either way - you won’t explain it is my guess as it’s been asked several times and you simply skirt the question and  state we should have voted without explaining how we could have voted or for those that bought minted seats after whenever this vote was done.

I like the coins and simply would have preferred to have a coin had I won. I realize 100% satisfaction is never possible in any endeavor. And this is no exception.

I still don’t understand how or why minted seats are treated differently than online seats

In that case, we are lucky you were not the one doing this giveaway. If you don’t understand, please respect that a wide majority of voters that do understand agreed this was the best way to do it.

I’m quite happy that everything went flawlessly with the lottery, the coins are all engraved and ready to go, and I’ve gotten quite a bit of positive feedback. Now to get these beauties in the hands of winners. Make sure to check your online account and claim your prizes!

I still don’t understand how or why minted seats are treated differently than online seats - especially if the minted seats are attached to accounts on the site - this part about having to peel the coin to prove we own it makes zero sense - I mean you got a list to compare to? Have us sign from the address?  What do you do to prove ownership of the online seats? Let me guess, they have accounts registered on the site… anyone else see the fallacy here?

How will it be distributed for those with minted seats winners , I understand that the coins will be auctioned but I would like to know where ..? or how will we know how will be the distribution thanks.

I'm planning to auction the coins on this site.  Not sure exactly when yet, but it will be soon.  I'll then take all the BTC raised and send it to nonnakip, who will distribute it to the Minted Seat addresses.  I assume this will trigger some payouts as Minted Seats close to their threshold are pushed over, but for many they will be able to see the distribution amount reflected in their coin's total here: https://nastyfans.org/mint.json - as well as I'm sure we'll get an update from nonnakip about the amounts distributed.

Block 686117 is mined and lottery winners are known. You sign in to nastyfans to see if you are a winner.

The minted seat collective group won 13 1oz minted seat coins. OgNasty will auction these coins and proceeds will distribute equal to all minted seats. (1000 seat coins are not part of minted seat collective.)

If you have winning online seats you must claim your prize. If you have winning online seats you see a button to do claim. For claim you must write full postal address for OgNasty to send your prize.

All prizes not claimed by 4 July are auctioned by OgNasty and proceeds donated to nastyfans.

Verify winning tickets with:

Code:
wget https://nastyfans.org/download/lottery_draw_3.c

gcc lottery_draw_3.c -olottery_draw_3

bitcoin-cli getblock $(bitcoin-cli getblockhash 686117) | grep -A 400 '"tx":' | ./lottery_draw_3

Log in at nastyfans.org to see if any of your online seats were winners.  Get your mailing info sent in and I can start shipping these bad boys out.  Would love to see some pics when they start arriving in mailboxes!  Thanks to those who participated.  It's always great to have support and I'd love to keep finding new ways to give back.  I can't wait to hear the feedback once this is all behind us and all the coins are out the door.  If you didn't win, keep your eye out for auctions as I'll need to sell the coins won by Minted Seats to provide a special donation for all Minted Seats and plan to do so on this forum.  I hope to have some pics of this massive Minted Seat haul soon.  Back to the engraver...

why hundreds? only 100 can win.

You'd have to go through all the entries, not the winners.  Pics can be faked anyway so that was never a realistic option due to the human element and lack of transparency involved.  I could only imagine the cries of foul play if we did do it that way...  I'm confident we are doing it the best and most transparent way possible for everyone involved.  Judging from the wide margin of % that the giveaway passed the poll by, I am not alone.

I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend of remembrance.

I've been busy engraving rounds this morning and plan to spend most of my week doing so.  We'll see how many hours I can throw at it today, but hopefully I get some good pics out of this to show.  Smiley

If a minted seat owner wins, they could simply provide a picture of their coin with their forum user name and the current date and provide that to you - would that not prove they have the seat?

That’s an idea you could have suggested before we voted on and passed the way to do it that we decided on. I’m not sure who you expect to go through hundreds of photos to verify this, or if you’d trust the human element, but I prefer the transparent method that was chosen personally. In any event, the NastyFans seat owners have spoken with their votes, so criticism at this point isn’t really constructive. This proposal was open for votes for a month and discussed prior to that for some time, particularly in our slack chat group where fans helped to form the way the proposal was made. It also passed with a very high % of vote, so while this might not be the way every member wanted to do it, it was preferred by a vast majority. Having a larger ownership stake would be the way to have a bigger influence on future polls or you have to accept the majority vote.

why hundreds? only 100 can win. and I was not a seat owner when whatever vote you are talking about - or where that vote even was. I am simply asking questions because anyone with common sense can see it is no harder to confirm a minted seat owner as an online seat owner.  It is not rocket science nor is it difficult to prove (edit) validate who owns a seat - especially if they are trying to claim the lottery win.

both require that you know who owns that seat in order for you to mail them a coin that you are giving away.

with a minted seat, it is very simple to prove if they have it -takes all of a few seconds. with an online seat, yes they have an account and can prove it is their account. I am also betting that many of the minted seat owners also have an account and can also easily verify that the seat is theirs.

and speaking of transparency - can you explain how the winner is selected? I know you are using a block but how is the lottery ticket number derived from the block? The last several sequential numbers in the block hash? the first 5 or 6 numbers?

so let me ask this - an online seat owner wins - how do you know who that is? how do you keep someone from falsely claiming that the seat that won is theirs?  Do you keep information on who all the online seat owners are?

We literally chose to do the giveaway this way so that this wouldn’t be an issue. If you own the private key, you’ll get to share in the rewards as a group. If you don’t, you can’t. The way you suggested with photos and human verification can be gamed, but the private keys can’t. I hope that makes more sense to you now that this is the most fair, honest, and transparent way to do it, which is why we are doing it this way.

Also, I am still perplexed at why minted seat owners do not actually get their own ticket vs being tossed into one group.

It’s really simple. In order to definitively prove that you own a minted seat you would have to peel the coin and that is not something that I wanted to force people to do since it would destroy the collector value. This was what was chosen as the best possible solution and it was voted on and approved so that is what we did. If a different solution would have been presented and voted on as the way to do it, that’s what we would have done.

why if the winner is a minted seat holder they do not get the coin if they win?

why would the coin only go to someone if they are not a minted seat holder? seems like it is a slap in the face to those that paid for both a seat and a coin instead of just paying for a seat.

edited to add an additional question:

  • Lottery ticket numbers 1-2822 are assigned to minted seats as a collective group. If these tickets win the minted seat coin is auctioned off by OgNasty and 100% of the proceeds are distributed equally to all minted seats. (The two 1000-seat platinum minted seat coins are excluded from this group and are handled as online seats.)
  • The lottery tickets for a member are visible when the member signs in.

It says tickets "1-2822" are assigned to minted seats.

when I log in to the website I see:

lottery tickets for block 686117
1-2955 (minted seat collective group)

So is it 1 thru 2822 or is it 1 thru 2955?

Also, I am still perplexed at why minted seat owners do not actually get their own ticket vs being tossed into one group. Well except whoever bought the 1000 seater coin, I guess they spent enough on that coin to get "counted" while anyone else that bought a coin is being considered second rate here.

Seems odd that someone who possibly spent more money (as they purchased a seat and a coin) gets less of a reward than the person who simply bought an online seat.

I dont have fancy coins or anything like that  but I do sell poker chips wallets that are branded with with my logo on one side and a private key and holo on the other side. I chose to use poker chips to make a functional yet affordable wallet that people could use and afford to give away - they are sold as DIY but for several customers, which has amounted to several hundred of the chips, I have generated vanity addresses and applied them to the chips for the customers. I use an airgapped laptop that runs the vanitygen - it generates the address/key combination on screen which I convert both to QR codes and print them out - I do not save the address/key combinations and as I dont output them to a file there is nothing to save anyways - once I close the command window they are gone. I also have generated vanity addresses for a couple people who bought the AlpenCoin rolls. I have even 3d printed items and applied priv keys under a holo to them that are linked to vanity addresses.  I have not done any over 7-8 characters.

The one thing I have not done is have a way to also display the public address on the coin/poker chip itself - the last few jobs I have done I started using holo's that have a window in them, this allows me to put the priv key facing in and the pub key facing out in the window.  I would like to move to where I am engraving them though.  I am a very small operation though but hoping to grow over time.

Excuse everyone, I know this is not the post to discuss this but I sent you a message regarding poker chips.

Also vanity addresses are used by quite a few more than just you. Even in my simplistic small business have generated hundreds of vanity addresses for various projects other than coins even.

That's awesome.  I rarely ever see them used.  Even simplistic short ones would be cool to see more frequently from creators.  Casascius was probably the first I saw using them (before me I believe and on a much larger scale) and I just added utilizing them for a numbering system on top of labeling a coin series.  Any links to information on how you utilize vanity addresses in your business?  I would love nothing more than to learn new ways people are using Bitcoin and interacting with the blockchain.  I wouldn't judge them on whether or not they've outpaced Bitcoin's unmatched growth either.  Nothing has, so that would be a silly criticism.  Diversification in itself is it's own benefit worth paying for as any investor will attest to so creating unique methods of achieving this are always beneficial and appreciated by me.

Are you implying that FOS was a scam? They voluntarily disbanded since they needed certain licenses to run as a business, is Nasty Fans registered with the SEC?

I am actually looking at buying the MPX-95 but am wanting to test the new laser for metal engraving first. It might be able to do what I want and I can save the $ that would be spent on the MPX-95

to be clear - I am not questioning the quality of work on these coins. They look wonderful. Just questioning the statement of "hours hunched over an engraver" as that makes it sound like they are done by hand.

Testing on a cheaper laser engraver isn't a bad idea.  Those are probably closer to the stick the coin in and press a button vision you have in your head.  I think you'll be a bit surprised how much time and effort goes into engraving hundreds of metal objects with an actual engraver without scuffing the coins or having misaligned engravings.  I would be most flattered to see others elevate their creations from paper wallets after all of these years to join me in the world of engraved metal.  I'd love to see others using vanity addresses and providing all the information about the coins on updating feeds that are publicly available.  I'd really get excited if someone created something that also received BTC over the blockchain via a separate organization.  When I look at the physical wallets market over the last 10 years, I see next to no innovation from Casascius coins except using the virgin BTC block rewards to fund coins.  I would love nothing more than for someone to create something that pushed me to innovate further.  From my perspective, Minted Seats have 0 competitors of any kind and never have over their 9 year existence.  It really would be my biggest accomplishment to get people on this forum to stop attacking my innovations out of jealousy and start trying to competing with them.  Competition elevates us all and I would love some that lasted longer than a pump with empty promises and rug pull scam (remember Friends of Satoshi? LOL).

I simply asked if you still did it as shown in the video that you posted to YouTube which is a computer controlled engraver so not really requiring being “hunched over the engraver”. So, I thought maybe you went to some method of hand engraving. No need to get so passive aggressive. You should get out more if you think everyone is using paper wallets still. Also vanity addresses are used by quite a few more than just you. Even in my simplistic small business have generated hundreds of vanity addresses for various projects other than coins even.  You do good work - no one questioned that. But get real - minted seats have no competitors because hodling is better roi than buying seats. Yes the fiat value has increased/exceeded what the fiat value was when they were first sold - but every single seat holder would have been better off  to hodl the btc they spent buying seats vs buying the seats

I can’t say I’m looking forward to spending hours hunched over an engraver

are you now doing these by hand? hence the hunched over an engraver?

I thought you had a machine where you just place the coin and let it do the work

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLUKXpaAlHM

I haven't changed my process although I am using a different engraver then what is seen in the video you posted.  I wish it was as easy as sticking it in a machine and pressing a button.  I'm guessing there would probably be more people out there offering coins like this if it were.  Check around and see what these sort of services will cost you and you may have a new respect for the value I offer...  There's actually a lot of work that goes into engraving these coins so precisely.  Rest assured I'll be spending a great deal of effort over many hours to get these done for the winners with the same great quality that is expected of my works.

I guess I was asking if you are using a machine to do it or actually hunched over hand engraving like your post made it sound.

editing to avoid double post - I asked previously but no one answered - what "homepage" is nonakip talking about? can someone post a link? is the page we need an account for? but if we have minted seats and no online seats our accounts are deleted? removed - addressed in another thread.

Very cool giveaway. I have a set of this coin bought to a person and not thru shop. Can I still participate in the lottery? Does my coin will still receive share for the profit of this giveaway?

How can I register my seat on nastyfans website? I already created an account. Thank you

I believe the below quotes from this thread should answer your questions.

If you have coins 2nd hand. Any way to get them on your name?

Yes, although it's somewhat important to note that it is only for looks and doesn't serve much of a purpose.  The best way to get coins in your name is to be logged into nastyfans.org with your user account when you make purchases in the NastyShop.  The next way is to provide your coin's public address to nonnakip along with your username and ask that they be linked.  You can do this by sending him a message here: https://nastyfans.org/post

Minted Seats are pooled together for the lotto so that it isn’t necessary to peel them and prove ownership to participate. This was the best workaround I could come up with.

Mine just say it goes to the collective group.  Nothing specific for just myself.  I still think this is really a cool thing. Cool Cool Cool Cool

Thanks for checking. You must not own any online seats. It’s somewhat important to note that while Minted Seat coins are a cool collectible I invented to sell as a fundraiser for seats and they do contain seats, the organization itself is built around online seats. Many people confuse the two because there is obvious overlap, but anyone could create a similar product and point seats at it. We’d likely even support and promote the idea if they shared donations.

Minted Seats are pooled together for the lotto so that it isn’t necessary to peel them and prove ownership to participate. This was the best workaround I could come up with.

I'm cool with all of it, love the physical coins Cool Cool Cool

Is this up to date and current?

https://nastyfans.org/mint.json

Could you explain the difference between up to date and current so that I can make sure to address your questions accurately?

I have no reason to believe any information provided by nonnakip is anything but accurate. I would say if you believe something he provides isn’t being accurately reflected, contacting him privately to make a bug report would be the appropriate course of action.

what is the difference between https://nastyfans.org/mint.json

and : https://www.nastyfans.org/list.csv

or are those 2 linked together showing all seat holders and not just online seat holders?

Just clearing up any confusion some are asking about.

thanks!

The mint.json link shows information about Minted Seats. The list.csv shows information that online seat owners opt in their settings to make public. Both are efforts to maintain transparency while respecting the privacy of seat owners as much as possible. I’m appreciative of nonnakip for offering these updating feeds and I utilize the list.csv as a way to show how many seats are owned by NastyMining.

Running low on time to grab yourself an online seat from the auction at https://NastyFans.org for a chance to win one of these 100 .999 silver coins being given away. Keep your eye on an announcement from nonnakip in the NastyFans thread to know exactly when the lottery tickets have been given out. Won’t be much longer now…

EDIT:

Lottery tickets for giveaway contest sponsored by NASTY MINING are distributed. You see your tickets on bottom of "Home" page.

Tickets 1-2955 are the collective group for all minted seats.

The lottery drawing is for block 686117. This is maybe this time on next Friday.

Good luck nastyfans!

The tickets are out there!  Good luck everyone!

As an owner of some seats I would be super excited to win another one of these beautiful coins.  Especially a 2 or 5 oz. would be super cool. Cool Cool Cool

Me too.  I won't be mad at all to add some more Minted Seats to the collection.  I think people might be surprised how difficult it will be to talk the owners of these coins into selling them once they are no longer available from the shop...  A great deal of members who are used to seeing these being offered at regular price for years might be caught off guard if they were expecting to own some one day.  Alas, there is no time like the present.

Your chance to enter the giveaway and win a free coin by purchasing a seat from the auction at nastyfans.org is rapidly running out.  Grab one soon if you want in!  Good luck!

All owners of NastyFans seats, both minted and online will be automatically entered into the drawing.

I cant wait to win another milk spotted coin Smiley

Something tells me you won't have to worry about it since you have to own online seats to win a coin...  Coins I create have consistently graded the highest of any coins on this forum and typically grade MS69 or above.  The rounds given away in this generous event have also been well received by buyers for years.  Specifically the 2oz and 5oz rounds have received nothing but great feedback as they were stamped using the highest quality blanks available in the industry.  If you're seeing milk spots on them, I'd say to keep them away from cows or whatever it is you're splashing on them.

Stack seats!  Cheesy

The closer we get to this giveaway the more excited I get. I’m curious how many different countries I’ll be shipping these to or how much BTC will be raised for NastyFans seats once all is said and done. I can’t say I’m looking forward to spending hours hunched over an engraver, but I’m happy to do it for those in this community that are appreciative. Good luck to everyone!

The more the BTC price drops, the better deal this giveaway is for those looking to win a coin! Seats are still at the same BTC price and the amount of coins being given away is the same! Don’t let this price correction get you down. This is the last week to grab seats and benefit from the giveaway, not just for the chance at free coins, but also for the donations it will raise on behalf of your seats.

All this time I thought people were telling me to "stack sats." I just realized that my aging ears have been mishearing them. It's not stack sats, it's stack seats!  Cheesy

Still about 10 days left to grab an online seat from the auction at https://nastyfans.org and try your luck at winning a silver Minted Seat coin. With 100 coins up for grabs and 28,837 seats in play, the odds are roughly 1 in 288 that you would win with a single seat entry. Not too bad when you consider that you can always resell the seat after the contest, pay to mint it onto a coin, or hold it and receive BTC distributions down the line.

OgNasty, I have seats at the table and am looking forward to it. Great stuff.

Around a week to go in order to see if you can get lucky and snag one of the 100 silver coins being given away!  I've never given away $14,000+ worth of stuff before to strangers on the internet (that I'm aware of) so I'm excited about it.  I wish some more members of the community were equally enthusiastic so I could feel good about potentially putting on more massive giveaways like this in the future, but for now I'm happy just to be giving away so much awesome stuff while at the same time helping to bring in more distributions for previous fans and Minted Seat owners.  Grin

As a new member of the club I can say that I am excited, I have been a member for a month and see that with the transparency that you manage, it is great I hope in the future you can create more gold coins, they are really a work of art, thank you and good luck to all .

This is great ! It shows that NastyMining, NastyFans has a true community spirit. Thanks OgNasty and nonnakip for the time and effort you put in this Giveaway.

Thanks. I haven’t put in much time yet, but you can believe that engraving 100 coins along with whatever orders come in will have me sweating over an engraver for many hours in order to give so many coins away. Shipping them all will probably put a nice dent in my pockets as well, but I love NastyFans and am happy to do it for you all. With a bit of luck everything will go smoothly and maybe I can do more giveaways for members in the future.

NastyMining $14K+ / 100 Coin Bitcoin Collectible Giveaway!

NastyMining is donating funds to distribute 100x .999 Silver Minted Seats with the help of NastyFans.
Included in the giveaway are 75x 1oz .999 Silver Minted Seats, 20x 2oz .999 Silver Minted Seats, & 5x 5oz .999 Silver Minted Seats.  The current total cost of these coins in the NastyShop being over $14,000!  This donation will increase the value of distributions to all seats while also rewarding some lucky winners of the drawing with free coins.

All owners of NastyFans seats, both minted and online will be automatically entered into the drawing.
All coins won by Minted Seats will be auctioned off on this forum with funds being split only between Minted Seats.  This will allow minted seats to receive BTC from not only the initial purchase of the coins by NastyMining, but also from the sale of coins auctioned here.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have below.  It is great to be able to do this giveaway as I hit my 10 year anniversary here at Bitcointalk.  If you appreciate this giveaway or want to take part, take a look at NastyFans here, NastyMining here, and feel free to purchase seats at https://nastyfans.org in order to take part in the giveaway.  Thanks!  Specific rules from the NastyFans poll on whether to approve the giveaway along with the Bitcointalk announcement are below:

On May 28 the lottery tickets will be distributed. The number of lottery tickets you receive is based on number of seats you have at time of ticket distribution (May 28). This allows new members to join in coming weeks and participate in the lottery.

On June 4 the lottery will occur. This is one week after ticket distribution. This allows members to see their ticket numbers before lottery occurs.

I will post again after lottery ticket distribution (May 28).

Quote
  • Every member receives a lottery ticket for each online seat owned at the time the lottery tickets are distributed.
  • Each lottery ticket is numbered. (1-28837)
  • A program is used to choose winning lottery tickets.
  • The program uses the tx section of Bitcoin block details to choose winning tickets. The same tickets are chosen if the same Bitcoin block is used. nonnakip tested the program and the results are well distributed. Here is example output using block 677358 (sorted to show distribution). The real lottery will not be sorted.
  • The program is available as source code for all to see.
  • After lottery tickets are distributed a future Bitcoin block number is specified that is used for the lottery.
  • The first 100 ticket numbers chosen by the program are winners unless a ticket number appears more than once. Then extra ticket numbers are chosen. A lottery ticket can only win one minted seat coin.
  • The first 75 winners receive 1oz minted seat coins. The next 20 winners receive 2oz minted seat coins. The final 5 winners receive 5oz minted seat coins.
  • A winning member must provide a postal address to send the minted seat coin(s). If a postal address is not provided within 30 days of winning the minted seat coin(s) are auctioned off by OgNasty and 100% of the proceeds are donated to nastyfans.
