Technology is not always a good thing.

One example is with the children.
In the old days, children used to play outside with their friends.
Now majority of them are just staring at their iPads.

That is bad enough, but when you add the long term effect I has on people the results are devastating, obesity is one of the problems that technology has brought to us, no one walks everyone wants to drive their car for even some of the shortest trips, kids stare at an ipad instead of running and playing sports.

People nowadays keep on staring on their smartphones, lying on their bed watching or streaming movies and browsing any stuffs on the web. People are inactive in a way they don't spend their day productive. This is mostly a well known negative effect of technology. Technology promotes obesity since people are not physically active. I know we are entertained with this technology stuffs, it kills time fast. But we must not forget about our health.

That's normal nowadays, unlike those days where old people in the morning when they wake up, they are already holding a broom or cooking something for breakfast, that is why they are healthier, families of today, in the morning, we are already busy checking emails and worst just browsing around facebook.

I think we should buy gadgets that are only useful to us like mobile phone and a laptop and practice discipline.
We can't deny the fact that we are living now with technology ,gadgets it only depends how we use it in our daily lives if it jave a bad effects in our life then it should be use in a discipline manner not just for facebook or such as useless reasons.

Not all robots look like people... even a little. The robots that help build cars in car factories, are mostly designed to match their job. They don't look human at all.

Sometimes that bartender is moving so fast that he/she might as well be a robot. The real question is, would you tip a robot?

Cool
Hehehe! I guess you are right, robots in factory are made to be as much efficient as possible. Developers didn't think too much, actually not at all on looks of robot, to look human i mean. But it would be weird if we had bartender who looks like factory robot XD . That i would definitely not tip xD . Bartender need to be alive if you ask me, maybe they do like robots sometime, but they are alive and humans feel that Cheesy .

I would say that a negative effect is the manipulation of our minds through news sites, television ....

And the kids get dumber and dumber because of stupid YouTube videos and shows like "16 and pregnant" (MTV)

I found living outside the big city to be very different and relaxing. The technology helps us every day and i have a lot of it at home, including a PC with internet, a phone and many other, but cities have become too industrialized. I'll show you my typical days and compare:
City:
I could hear cars and trucks all night even with closed windows.
Air smells of fumes, so I had to dry clothes inside.
You could hear your neighbors through the walls, if one of them was having a party it was impossible to sleep.
Going anywhere meant an hour in traffic.
Easy to get sick in public transport as people would breath and sneeze all around you.

Country:
All you can hear is birds and wind. No cars, no people.
Air is clean and dried clothes smell great.
If you want to have a party you can do it anytime, nobody's gonna care if you decide to work out at 2 a.m.
No traffic, unless you want to get downtown  Undecided
I haven't had even the slightest cold since I moved out of the city. No allergies too.

Technology has both negative and positive effects. War, as a catalyst to technological advancement, is far more negative than kids being glued to a screen all day. That's not negative in my opinion, it's weak. how did they get weak? they were raised in liberty. not all are weak, and as someone stated in this thread; nature is always on the move. it's another way of saying that nature offers survival only for the fittest. which is fine to me.

Today, the Internet is evaluated in the addiction category. Especially in the last 10 years, social media has shaped our lives too. People can get inadequate syndrome in social media. In the online environment we are trying to make ourselves different. To reach the personality that we have created, we are able to clash with real life. That's where addiction starts.
We have to balance real life and online life.
I agree with everything you say, many people become addicted on internet, some social networks or online games. I don't watch television that often and i don't believe in almost everything that media tell us. They tell us what they want, and often that is not whole truth. People get away from there life to social networks or some game where they can be what they want to be, because its easier. Depending how person is psychically strong, if he is stronger he will get less addicted to those stuff... And at the end everything goes back to user, not tech.

I am a satisfied technological developer. But human nature must live on the move.
In the past we used to live as a hunter-gatherer. Now we are passively consuming our lives across the screens.
Everything shows up like a balloon. In fact, many things are fake images.

Actually, it would not be bad to settle in a fishing town.

On the contrary, wasting time is something joyful Cheesy
Wasting time will be joyful if you are doing something useful which does not gain anything in particular to anybody else for will give a good deal of pleasure in doing so. The negative effects are kids are ignoring playing games in the ground and rather sitting in front of the box and playing games which is the stupidest thing i have seen a kid can do.

Technology has its advantage and disadvantage but its uses will definitely depends on the users of it. if you abuse yourself it is your fault balance your life .Teach your son ,siblings or other don't abuse the technology .

Yeah, the only disadvantage that technology effects are it made human lazy to do work, because modern technology teach humans to do easy jobs and there is no hardwork are practice, so the effect are many people always complaining for every problem that they encountered. besides that technology is good due to improving the modernization of human

But you forget. People are made to work. If they don't work, they ultimately stagnate and die. It is then that the robots will take over the world.

 Grin
Seeing this chat I also have a new thought, more and more days development of technology is increasing even now becoming more sophisticated. Now almost all the factory uses robots to work, even now many robots created as waiters, maids, guards ticket, etc. If someone is lazy and does not want to learn or attempt then in the future they will not compete with the robot. Whether this includes good or bad, the impact of this technology will increase unemployment because of lack of jobs.
I don't agree that is the waiters and bartenders were robots. In bars people go to drink alcohol, and communication. No robot can replace a living person. Although the factories robots may replace workers. This is already happening.
In China and Japan have some restaurants that employ a robot to note and deliver orders. Additionally a robot maid already exist in some countries, although not yet widely sold. You can find information on the internet and you will find a lot. And indeed all the factories are already using robots to be more efficient, the negative impact was also clear ie subtraction of workers / dismissal so that jobs are limited. I think this is the negative impact of technology is inevitable.

It is truth that more and more robots are working instead of humans, and in some way that is right thing to do. Because there isnt human that can work as much as machine, people need rest and robots dont. If they are programmed right, they could do almost anything that human can. But i also agree that robot will never replace bartenders.
Yes true many companies or factories that use robots because they can work all day without rest and so that production can be very fast, and besides it can suppress the larger expenditure so that profits can be increased. It is very efficient but the negative impact such as I described earlier is wiil high unemployment. In the future, human demands will be even greater in order not to lose in the competition with technology, it is very heavy. And I want to ask why you do not agree that the robot can replace the bartender? All people talk like that, whereas in Japan it has been a lot of robot waiters and bartenders.

I don't know, i have never seen one my self. When i think about it, it is some how awkward if i would need to order my drink from machine at the bar. My opinion is that bartender should be human, human ward cant be replaced by any other. Sometime when your friends are late at the bar, you can always speak with bartender and time will pass faster Cheesy . Do that with robot Tongue .

Not all robots look like people... even a little. The robots that help build cars in car factories, are mostly designed to match their job. They don't look human at all.

Sometimes that bartender is moving so fast that he/she might as well be a robot. The real question is, would you tip a robot?

If they have good effects of technologies and of course  they have negative effects to our children. Before the children going outside to simple games like playing in the playground and others. But look children now every wake up in the morning the first things that they in their hand is tablet/iPods/ computer to playing games. Most of the children now spend their time to play games in online . I hope the simple game will comeback again even if they have an advanced technology. Others children as of now play simple game in the outside of their house but a little only not just like before.

I don't watch TV, i don't spend time on social media, yet i am still addicted in another way. I can't stop but keep myself updated about the world events. I constantly stay online on forums like this one and learn as much as i can. I can't even go to bathroom without my iphone anymore. I used to read magazine there, now i carry my phone with me all the time. It even helped me to learn how to drive... Thanks to my iphone i don't get lost in the streets anymore. This shit is too awesome.

Unfortunately you are right, technology can help us in many ways, it can make life a lot easier. But why i say unfortunately, because more and more people get used on using technology for day to day life, and when they are left without his or hers technology they are stuck, and tend to get upset or lost. We are getting pimped by technology even if we are not aware, but that is only if we let it. I suggest to you, like best friend to best friend, don't be pimped by tech even if its giving a lot of new things to learn. Don't forget to go on walk or coffee with friend, people can learn a lot too from just conversation Cheesy . Cheers Cheesy !

Yes, and also TV watching and a lot of people waste their time in many social networks or just speaking on the mobile. Time wasting in social networks is very common, you can spend more than several hours each week there. And of course time wasting from TV watching - almost everyone from us, except if you live in Africa or Asia.
It depends on how you look at this problem. On the one hand you are right, TV really takes away time from the live communication between people, but on the other hand television raises our level of knowledge and stimulates to travel, and while travelling we communicate.
It depends on how you look at this problem. When there were no televisions, people drank whiskey in the saloon were fighting and staged shootout. Is that better?
Drinking whishkey in saloons? Staged shootouts? I think this is waaaaaay to specific on a certain location to be even considered in this question. I understand the previous comment here. Technology has its positive and negative effects. People far from each other can now communicate without much problem though people who actually are with their family have little time for communication because they're too busy in social media. Its double edged and i think people should just learn to live with whats happening and learn to show importance and appreciation with what they currently have.
I think that people are the creators of their lives. Technology help us to live. How to use technology is a matter of each person. There are features of human nature that influence his choice how to spend free time. Without the TV there were people who sat at home and read books. Is that better?

Actually. Most of us here in Asia also do loves to waste our time watching TV. Especially when we are not on our work. It also happens to me sometimes that i have to finish something at home but instead i was just sitting the whole day watching TV. However I can't blame technology because in the first place it would always be our discipline
