I will also give a certain percentage of my stake to a charity organization.

Do you think we can build our own charity organization with members around the world and small charity-projects around the world?

- NEM - better then just being a coin - its pure charity! . This could be the slogan.

Nevertheless would it also help to promote NEM in general. Wink

I think to commemorate the launch of NEM (whenever that may be) we should give all stakeholders the option to donate a percentage of their stake to a community-determined charity so that we can kick off the launch of NEM with a bang (and positive PR). If there is enough interest I guess we could even spread it out amongst several charities to get even more positive PR out of it (and not to mention helping out charities in the process).

I just think this would be a way to get a large-scale fundraiser done quickly and painlessly since the coins are going to have to be distributed anyway. Of course, if you don't want to, you don't have to donate anything either! What do you guys think?
Good idea! I support to donate some  for  NEM's furture.

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
I wonder  how the coding is going.

As of tonight, we have 4062 lines of production code, 3640 lines of test code, and 301 test cases.

Overall, I think things are progressing well. We should be on track for an alpha (with a slightly reduced feature set) sometime next month.

guys, thanks for your hard work! Smiley

Is there somewhere we can see the decision making process for the logo or is it privately held between the guys doing it?

I don't think we're sure yet how it's going to go down but it's not going to be very spectacular Smiley.
We just wan't to limit the slate down so the community can make a clear choice and NEM get's the best logo possible.
If people choose between 40 different logos then the winner will probably be ahead by only a few votes.

Any estimate for how long the Alpha/Beta will last? A month? Less? Smiley

With all of us 3000 enthusiastic folk testing it, I'm sure most of the kinks will identified and isolated in to time!

We all could do this right NOW  Wink

you seem like a kindhearted person  Smiley. We need guys like you in NEM. I think we can only do charity once we have a functional currency. For now best we can do is spread awareness of NEM and think of ideas to make NEM a viable form of currency.

I have a plan for charity (could be fun) when we make the development contract announcement. So start to think of your best charity.

UP are you thinking charity or charities? If the former than I would suggest a charity with global reach to reflect the movement and stakeholders

KC

I'm glad to see the NEM community will also be involved with charitable intentions. Personally, I like Kiva, Doctors without Borders and Direct Relief.
www.kiva.org  www.doctorswithoutborders.org  www.directrelief.org

Before the NEM team selects a charity, please use the free database in Charity Navigator to make certain they have a good performance ranking. The charities are scored based on financial health, and accountability & transparency metrics.  www.charitynavigator.org
Kiva scores 68.69 out of 70
Doctors without Borders scores 62.03 out of 70
Direct Relief scores 69.90 out of 70

I personally like Doctors without Borders . But there will probably be several charities that the money can go to.

I personally give to Ashinaga here in Japan (http://www.ashinaga.org/en/). They take care of thousands of orphans from the Kobe and Tohoku earthquakes.
