This is from internet.org

"The goal of Internet.org is to make internet access available to the two thirds of the world who are not yet connected."

and the contact page says

"Join us. If you're working on a project related to connectivity or just want to keep up with Internet.org, let us know."

NEM is a project related to connectivity (economic and secure messaging). Let's join them.

These articles say Facebook might use solar-powered near-orbital drones to deliver the internet to poor countries. If true, it can help get NEM adopted into the unreachable places.
business.financialpost.com/2014/03/04/facebook-titan-aerospace-60-million-deal-would-allow-mark-zuckerberg-to-beam-the-internet-to-poor-countries/
techcrunch.com/2014/03/03/facebook-in-talks-to-acquire-drone-maker-titan-aerospace/

A partnership would be a huge boost for NEM. This is a long shot, but let's think big and add www.internet.org/contact as a future assignment for our NEM swarm.

And Google wants to use balloons (http://www.google.com/loon/)...

Will NEM be capable of hitting 10 cents?

I believe it will be.

I wonder  how the coding is going.

As of tonight, we have 4062 lines of production code, 3640 lines of test code, and 301 test cases.

Overall, I think things are progressing well. We should be on track for an alpha (with a slightly reduced feature set) sometime next month.
well done!

How long is a piece of string?

In the case of NEM, as long as people cut it. If people don't put the effort in (this includes putting forth their own funds for community driven efforts - advertising, etc) that NEM string will be short.

If you're a stakeholder in NEM, it is in your long term interests to use a portion of your funds to help give NEM the boost it needs to publicity. This is something thats lacking in the NXT camp right now, from what i've read. NXT is dominated by whales/horders who care nothing for the currency, and only stash their vast sums of coins with no care for the longevity or future development of the currency.

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
While it's a good news that things are progressing, I'm a little disappointed as I thought it will be launched in april and not just alpha-released  Undecided

Everything has to be tested and verified. When dealing with financial instruments there is no room for error.

As I mentioned on in a earlier post once the core NEM is complete it maybe a good idea to look at using existing feature phones and SMS gateways. The use of M-Pesa in Kenya is an example of what can be done will relatively simple technology that already exists

KC

Good technology appears simple to the end user... In reality what appears simple may not be...

This can be done, one approach is to design an integration to mobile money platforms and offer NEM as an add-on rather than an alternative...
This way you work with the Telco's not compete...

My humble opinion is you need something like a blockchain.info online wallet which can be accessed via SMS/USSD securely, a mobile money platform can hold the wallet-keys or a separate platform, I would think a telco agreeing to partner like this would run a NEM node along side its mobile money platform and take a stake.

There is also a lot of fraud around these systems (not technology) but spoof messaging which the Telco manages, people in these markets have very little money and if they don't trust you, they won't use you.

I know the concept of working with a telco (I am from one) will not sit well with some people but you won't get good enough security using these simpler protocols unless you can properly integrate with the network.

This is practically a good idea, but it seems hard to do. Why would a company like that want to work with us?

My Head is a Ritz
We need to discuss the NEM project here more often. Not just in the official Forum or in the Trello board.

If we don't. We will miss many ideas from those who are only active at BTT.

And we won't get bullshit posts from users purely because of boredom because nobody writes here anymore.

We need to get this Topic alive again.

I agree but I also disagree. There have been a lot of great ideas posted on this thread, but they can't evolve on this board, and they can easily be overlooked. If someone has a great idea, they should post it here, but if at the same time if they don't post it on trello or nem forum, it's going to be forgotten about after a few days.
It would be nice for the image of NEM to have this thread crowded with people, but I think it will happen naturally once we get over this hump; where the devs are working hard, but don't have much to show or tell us yet.

Afaik there'll be a very very early version of the client being delivered along with the alpha. Up until now the devs have been working hard on the infrastructure, peer trust, POI and so on which is of course also still ongoing.

Have some patience people - Haste makes waste Smiley

I have patience, I don't know for others,  but I'm curious Wink

Nice.

Is the NEM client also being developed along with the NEM core?
Will there be an alpha version of NEM client also released in about a month?

Hi!

One of the stakeholders (SomethingElse) has posted, IMHO, some interesting points to discuss about NEM economy at the NEM forum.
http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=75.0

Indeed he has.

Utopianfuture, Jaguar0625 and everyone else involved in developing/promoting/NEM ecosystem take a look at that post. It gives a lot to think about.

Announcement

We are forming NEM logo+branding resource committee of five people (or seven if there are a lot of qualified people wanting to join). Our job will be narrowing down the NEM logo, branding resources to a reasonable selection so that a final vote can be made by the community. We will also be actively seeking for best designers and ask them to submit their works for NEM logo+ branding resource selection.

Two initial members of the committee are UtopianFuture and patmast3r and we are asking you to join in the committee if you feel you have eyes for a good logo and NEM branding resources and want to contribute. Send a pm to me or patmast3r if you are interested in joining. Being in the committee does not exclude your works to be considered for NEM logo.

We will announce all members of the committee later on and we will work by consensus to bring a final selection of NEM logo to the community for a vote before our official launch.

It looks like we are on pace here for this coin to reach its potential!!

And that is a big deal to me. Im excited for NEM
