Nxt works fine. The point of forging is not to be "fair" but to secure the network -- that's what mining does for bitcoin too. The question is whether POI is secure. We won't know until it's studied and reviewed.

Totally agree that security is priority #1. We're testing a lot of attack vectors to make sure that someone can't just arbitrarily control their score.

I haven't looked at quora in detail but it could be that he just "came out" later.
NEM was started to be written after the registration. If the code had been written already it would have appeared faster when it really would have taken the same time.

There's also little information that I can find on what's new about the POS implementation they came up with. Maybe it's just not as new.
In the thread the dev pointed here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_Stake when asked about what's new so that kind of raises the question if there's anything new at all.

When the asset (NEMstake 12465186738101000735) goes live on Nxt Asset Exchange, you will be able to sell your token for NXT. Or you can just keep it and trade it in for NEM when NEM goes live.

The NEMstake asset should be going live on Nxt Asset Exchange in a few days.

Both are very easy to setup, allows people to increase their bid and less time consuming.

while do you want to increase your bid? Do as recommended, make a max bid you can afford and forget about it.

BTW I am open to suggestions if there are indeed ways of doing thing better.
