Blockchain pruning will be included with the next release of NXT. This could be the end of NEM.

message pruning lol how groundbreaking
to all those people that think this isn't important should read this:

NEM people are starting to become arrogant, look at how big the NEM blockchain is and that is mostly from one person.

Blockchain pruning is important, noone is debating that.

just updated to new client. is it possible to backup blockchain before updating?
Usually you don't need to do that, but you can backup the database. It is called "nis5_mainnet.h2.db" and you find it on windows here: c:\users\%your-username%\nem\nis\data

Lol. As long as cryptos have adoption similar to hddvd we're good.
Also it seems to "only" be pruning of messages. Wonder how much that'll even do. Is the NXT blockchain so bloated with messages ?

Short question: I started local harvesting. Do I have to keep my browser and the wallet open for harvesting? Or in other words: What can I close?
You can close browser when you harvest locally but don't turn off NIS (shield in the tray)
http://blog.nem.io/how-local-and-delegated-harvesting-works/

I am doing it locally. So, I can close the wallet before closing my browser, right?

Yes. Try it and then check if you are online here: http://nodeexplorer.com/ On the lower right you can enter the name (just the begining of your name is sufficient) and you'll be able to see the status of your node.

Value will be measured in sats
We're currently waiting for all previous stakeholders to sell all of their XEM coins.
During this time (estimated to be around 1-7 months), we're expecting to buy XEM coins from those previous stakeholders at the price of 0.00000050 to 0.00000080 per each XEM coin. The estimated total amount of money needed to purchase all XEM coins from previous stakeholders will be around $1,487,403

After that, when there's barely any supply of XEM coins left for sale. We'll move the price of XEM coins to about the same price of NXT coin around 0.00004324 per each XEM coin.

that would be nice ...

Its not pie in the sky. It is how it will most likely play out.

New moderation policy

Due to obvious reasons, from now on we will install a much more intolerable policy to deliberate FUD and trolling. Criticizing, being angry and complaining are all fine within reasonable limits. But when somebody is intentionally lying and trying to hurt NEM with FUD and trolling, they will have all their comments from that point on deleted.

YAY!! +1 x infinity!!!

or use the IGNORE so you will never see their FUDS/LIES etc etc

Good luck guys!!!

I hope this won't be abused from the moderators side as some of us as investors have a right to opinion even if it does't feed your agenda nor any egos.
