I see that some people mix up the terms wallet and account. Please understand that you can have as many accounts in your wallet as you like. And it is important to use the right terms, otherwise you are confusing everybody plus the people who try to help you. Thanks

Always take a look here first, then ask: http://blog.nem.io/nem-tutorial-list/

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
i am surprised

NEM really exists !

No, NEM does not exist. CfB and BCNext went on a peyote mushroom vision quest on October 1 2013 to nut out the details of transparent forging   ... everything in crypto since then has been a dream inside CfB's brain. None of this is real, we are all electrical impulses and chemical ghosts inside CfB's synapses.

But hey, good news,  there's still time to make the NXT IPO deadline!

This explains the last year perfectly!

Is NEM really from scratch? It should be here soon: http://mapofcoins.com/

Yes, NEM is 100% new source, written in Java. 14 months of ongoing development.

Well I can start delegated harvesting on two wallets if i set remote server to localhost, but I guess that defeats the purpose of being able to switch my laptop off now and then. I set the limit to 2 in the config.properties.

I cannot seem to delegated harvest on different remote serves with different wallets. First one stops when I change the remote server in settings. I think I can delegated harvest multiple wallets on one remote server, but I am yet to find one that has space for two of my wallets at once.

Thanks for the help guys

If I have multiple wallets does the settings menu affect all wallets? Specifically, if I enter a host in remote server, do all my wallets have to delegate to that same remote server?

settings does effect all wallets, but if you start one account harvesting on one server and then change IP, the fact you changed IP wont stop the account harvesting on that server. so settings are global for your client but if you do something and then change, the change doesnt have any effect on what you have already done. unless we are talking about local harvesting. if you change from localhost to an IP while loca lharvesting it will stay harvesting, but when you turn off local nis it stops.

So if I enter a remote server in settings which only has space for one more harvester, then I change wallets and change the remote server in settings to another one that has space for one more harvester, will the first wallet still be delegating to the original remote server? I'm not sure this works because when I switch back to the fist wallet it does not say it is harvesting, it says start delegated harvesting.

thats how it should work yes. when you activate delegated harvesting, a proxy key is generated which holds your importance and that key is sent to the server that you are connected to at the time when you "start delegated harvesting". so even when you disconnect from that server, its still holding the proxy key. so when you swap over to the other server and "start delegated harvesting" the same thing happens.

Just want to get it perfectly clear in my mind. I start delegated harvesting in Wallet A on Remote Server A the button changes to stop delegated harvesting. I then close Wallet A and log in to Wallet B. There is not enough space on Remote Server A for Wallet B, so I change remote server in the settings to Remote Server B. I start delegated harvesting in Wallet B on Remote Server B. Then I close Wallet B and log back in to Wallet A. Now the button says start delegated harvesting indicating that it is no longer delegated harvesting on Remote Server A where I left it. But you guys are telling me it is actually still delegated harvesting on Remote Server A but the button is not showing it because I had to change the remote server in the settings for Wallet B. If I change the remote server in settings to Remote Server A then the button should change to stop delegated harvesting thereby showing me that delegated harvesting on Remote Server A was continuing in the background as it should....!!! Huh I hope that makes sense.

What does "NIS is running (local node not booted), NCC is running" mean in the NEM tray icon?

Specifically why is local node not booted? Is that normal, or is my port 7890 not open properly or is it because i am delegated harvesting?

If you start delegated harvesting on remote NIS A for account A, then go to remote NIS B and start delegated harvesting for account B -> both accounts will harvest on the 2 different remote NIS.
If you connect to remote NIS A and switch to account A in your wallet, you should see that delegated harveting is running. It could take a few seconds until it updates the button though.

You can even log out your wallet, shutdown NCC or your computer. The remote NIS A and B will continue to harvest for your accounts.

Do the remote servers allow many people to delegate to them at the same time? How many?

Ah, OK thanks for the replies. It looks like I'll be heading over to Poloniex to grab a few extra coins then. It's kind of surprising to see that they were able to integrate NEM so quickly since new source code coins tend to take a while for exchanges to support but I guess the NEM devs felt it was important for the coin to start trading from day 1. Glad to see that the launch happened smoothly with no major problems. Smiley

Just a few questions though:

1.) I have a NEM private key and address. I looked up my address on the block explorer and all my coins seem to be there. Is there a timeframe in which I have to enter my private key into the client or can collect my real NEM a week/month/year from now? I assume it's the latter?

2.) Why does it say "Status: Locked"?

3.) Can I start forging without doing any transactions? Just the NEM sitting in my account from the genesis block? According to the block explorer, my importance score is 0.1%. Is this good?

4.) Is Poloniex the only exchange that NEM is currently trading on? I only bought 0.1 NEMstake which means I only have 225,000 coins and I'd like to bring this number up to 1,000,000 eventually.

Your private key just allows access to the account that holds the XEM from the NEMesis account. There is no timeline unless you consider the length of time NEM exists as one.

The status locked just means you are not harvesting on that account. You need 1000 XEM in vested balance to do so. And you have to initiate harvesting from within the account. If you do local harvesting it will be the account you are using, if you do delegated harvesting it will be the proxy account that you give your importance to.

You can start harvesting without doing any transactions. Just need the minimum on vested balance. Also your importance score can increase depending on the amount if transactions you do compared to everyone else I believe.

Poloniex is the only exchange at the moment. That will probably change shortly however.
