Trying to mimic/compete with PoI?

https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=6237.0

Pretty hard for me to understand all of it, but it's goal is to basically be like POI, though I think the method is different.

It's nice he is addressing these issues.

Lots and lots of new proof-of-x concepts coming out.  Not very many of them have turned out to work though.

It seems like anybody can come up with a new proof these days.  It is making come to reality that's the hard part.

I myself thought of a very interesting proof-of-x the other day that is a mixture of PoW and PoS but entirely unlike anything ever done before and flips some key things upside down but for the better I think.

I wish I could have presented it to NEM a long time ago when this was developing. It would take a skilled programmer to make but I think the foundation has been laid on some platforms already out.  It would be much harder to code than just a regular PoW coin or a PoS and would have to be written from scratch I think.

For now I'm just going to keep it unpublished. I'm too invested in NEM and like the way it's going.  Soooooo many devs are trying to make the next NXT and failing badly. It's apparently much harder than most people think. That's why I'm so happy to see NEM have such a beautiful and well tested beta. It's been worth waiting for.

1000% ROI Masternode Coin
When I click the start local harvesting button, it says "The provided account does not satisfy the basic criteria for harvesting. Mainly it is related to the amount of NEMs within the account. Harvesting starts with at least 1000 NEM." My account has +400,000 NEM. Any ideas?
you need to wait until the men are "Vested"

Exactly. Wait until the men are vested. Aint nobody got time for naked men !

We may well end up with 300-400 unclaimed stakes. That is pretty good by any standard!

Whats the latest on the use of unclaimed stakes and how does it differ from OP? I was following the discussion earlier but the thread has become so large since redemption started, I cant find the final result/decision

NEM will have a maximum of 4 000 000 000 coins, all distributed with the genesis block. Each NEM coin will be divisible to 6 figures (i.e. the smallest amount of NEM is 0.000001 NEM). The total supply will be distributed as follows:

71% - distributed to stakeholders on the final stakeholder list.
10% - reserved for the core development team to fund development of the NCC and NIS up to the release of V.1 of the blockchain.
10% - reserved for the core development team to fund development of the NCC and NIS after the release of V.1 of the blockchain.
5% - reserved for the extended development team; those who are working on promoting NEM and the NEM ecosystem.
4% - auctioned off at a later date.

You can't find the final decision because there hasn't been a final decision.

Although there is some talk on raising the number of stakes to 8 Billion instead, i.e., everyone getting two times more than what they originally have.

This is what I have posted earlier: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2531.msg6776#msg6776

Are they seriously considering this this late in the development phase?

Is it okay to do two transactions, for redemption from AE, to one NEM address?

I first did a test with 0.1 NEM stake from AE to the redemption address (with my NEM address as message). Is it okay to sent the rest of the stakes to that same address or does that make things too difficult for you?

You're not the only one splitting up eventhough we asked people not to...at this point it doesn't matter anymore Smiley
Yeah, sorry, I have too keep up with all the posts, but it is just too much...
Cool, that it's "okay" now though  Wink (thanks!)

Yesterday I got to open my node, but today did not work my node.  I changed the laptop, and now it works fine.  My windows is very clean, freshly formatted. Internet is very dirty, many danger hackers.  Undecided

I recommend everyone save backups(windows xp,vista,7,8) with acronis true image 2014

Recommended programs:
-Acronis true image 2014
-Adblock plus
-Shred files (glary utilities or advanced system care)
-Folder vault
-Keepass
-Malwarebytes (spybot, supertantispyware)
-Avira antivirus with avira browser safety
-Zonealarm firewall

edit: Sorry, it was my mistake. I put the ip of a local network, not my real internet ip.

Is phase 2 only for those who have stake on the exchange or for everyone? Its not super clear :/

In general it's for both but it has only started for stakes on the AE. It will start for the rest on nov 1st.

If I understand right: does it mean that my real address and my secret key are later used like a seed to get my NEMs?

Kind of yes. The address is published by you so we know to which account we have to transfer your NEM. Your private key should be kept secret by you. Once we have launched you can import your acount via that private key.

And does it mean too, that I can create another (empty) real NEM address for later use, if I like?

Yes.

Thank you for your quick reply ! Updated now to 4.12, all works fine!

If I update my standalone client (I don't use the default data directories) to 4.12, what file is needed to save my wallet?
Is it only this one:

wallet-name.wlt ?

Yes. Just that file.

Where are the recently created real NEM-address and my privat and publik key located? Are they also stored in this file?

They aren't stored for you, you need to store them somewhere safe and secret. It's simply a key-generator. Everytime you use it it will give you different values.

Thank's, good to know. If I understand right: does it mean that my real address and my secret key are later used like a seed to get my NEMs? And does it mean too, that I can create another (empty) real NEM address for later use, if I like?

It's not really a seed. You get an address and the privae key you receive is how you gain access to that address/account in which your NEMs will already be present after launch.
