Nxt NEM
BTW, it has been mentioned that it is not anymore allowed to write own account address here, coz it may cause a ban. But it can be go around by keeping the account address in the signature.

What is the rule, which is causing this?
Is it this  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0 ?
"Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. "

If that is the rule, then a post [ "Give me NEMs" + signature with account details ] is breaking the rule, I think. Or not?

Forget-about-it
oi can anyone tell me if this is s full address size? (for creating "real address")

xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxx

It says to make sure you copy the whole thing. I sent before i triple checked and sent something this length.  looks same size as the beta address I have..

Looks good to me. It should start with an N.

It does, thanks for the reply!

On account of a 5M. Send 4700 000. He writes: "Your account does not have enough funds to send this amount NEM".
A sum of up to 1M go.

Second time comes this story. First time as it is self-recovered after a while ...

I just did a transaction sending 49 997 995 NEM (+2005 NEM fee) from a 50M account. It worked.

Thank God I'm an atheist
Not sure if I should post this here or in the official forum, but hey here goes!

Would it be possible for one of the devs to please list the steps needed to run NIS headless? By this I mean NIS on a remote machine running 24x7 where a NCC can use it remotely periodically?

I have a RaspberryPi running NIS but it is not clear how to start and boot NIS.

Thanks

KC
open port 7890 on the rasp. get the ip of the rasp pi, enter ip into "host" in the settings for connecting to nis. Save that and turn off local nis.

open port 7890 on the rasp. - Done
get the ip of the rasp pi - Done (it is static)
enter ip into "host" in the settings for connecting to nis - Done
Save that and turn off local nis. - Done

Problem - NCC >>> NIS requires to be booted
Problem - Boot local node >>> Unknown Error

KC

Is your local node running Linux?

If so, this makes your NIS local:
ssh -l root -f rasp_ip -L 7890:localhost:7890

If not, probably you can do the same with your SSH client, whichever it is.

I think I would need to get ' wasted' after doing all that......lol....

You lost me at ' keypass'

Best thing is copy and print the private key  Tongue or save on Pen drive.

Yeah...thats what I was thinking...

Yep, great video!  I am sharing it.

One other tip that I would like to share.  I have an old worthless digital camera.  I take pictures of the screen, just in case as a back up to the back up.

Also, as Kodtycoon showed in the video, he was using a password manager.  Keepass is open source and has been tested many times and proven to be one of the best and safest ways to manage information like this.  I use a program that is basically the same but not controlled by a third party.  But it is cross platform on my phone, mac, and windows.  It's called Lastpass.  It is a little friendlier on the eyes and easier to use.  I like the fact too that it has two-factor authentication and I can limit what countries it can be opened in.

There are other options too, but once a person starts using these password managers, you can find it makes your life much easier and safer and there is pretty much no going back.

Another vote for LastPass. I've been using it since Sony's PlayStation Network got hacked a few years ago. Now all my passwords are in LastPass including all crypto wallets where I use a 99 character password of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters. Other website passwords are generally 20 characters but same complexity. I only have to remember one pass phrase to get into LastPass although I supplement this further with 2FA which is a Yubikey from Yubicon which generates a one-time password of 100 plus letters and numbers. Not only can it store passwords which are then both complex and unique but I also use it to fill in forms like home address, work address, etc.

thats a good idea actually using the camera.. especially if its one thats never really used.

its true, once you start using a password manager you wont ever go back. i wouldnt feel safe not using one now.

im thinking i might make a video of how to set up a free vps (which is actually dead easy once you know how).

I'm used to using keepass so I find it dead handy.. And I don't have a printer lol

If you think that's bad you should see the process to open my nxt account lol

Got 2 DB files one with a 12 word paraphrase if memorized and that contains the 70+ char pass code to open the other database file which I have 10 seconds to open that gives me access to my nxt account paraphrase. That's near 100 chars long lol both DB's on different usb keys and both DB duplictated on 3 other usb's haha so I have 8 different usb keys in 4 different secure locations lol il die before anyone gets their hands on my coins haha

Ouch....dont worry , not everyone is a complete non-techie like me.....

In fact I should be used as an example/ guinea pig  of the ' hasnt a clue' type for future developments... Cheesy
