This is a great idea!

Silver is super cheap right now compared with where it has been. I think it can only go up from here.

If we include 100 NEM as a cold wallet on each of the coins, then we can spread NEM as well.
For gold coins, we could have 1000 NEM or so.

Having physical NEM coins would be excellent for promotion and give people a way to hold NEM in their hands. I don't think we could understate the psychological connection it will build with people.

If we could have 1/3 of the stakeholders here like you, this thing will just fly, no doubt! And I hope there are. We need everyone to play their role in order that this whole thing succeed. After all, nothing much was taken out of everyone in the beginning, merely ~ 0.033BTC on the average. Despite that, we have quite a number of dedicated people to at least come out with the Alpha.

Like everyone else, we are all impatient, but we have to help ourselves to get this off the ground at an even faster pace. The only way is to get more resources.

@Makoto, may I suggest that we just launch a crowdsale with some silver and gold rounds that are designed specifically for NEM. Have a limited edition series. At least, this way, people are not just putting in money but get back something that gives them some value, one day into the future. Even if the price is 3 times that of an equivalent silver coin (including the cost of the special design and small quantity issue costs) at $60-$65, this is nothing at about 0.125BTC. Silver is at a decent low level now and in line with the world economy, this can only go up in price later. So is gold.

Write it down on the frontpage! The Stakeholders should vote about it via pm.
You should give them at least 2 - 4 weeks. This has to be fair enough.
Each one who's not voting, is failing his part and responsibility as a holder.
We'll need to build up an ecosystem!... And everyone who isn't able to see this, should better sell his stake anyway.
At the begining no one really knew what was coming towards us.
But it takes what it takes.. And if you need more money, no matter for what, than you take the holders back to their responsibilty.
(Btw. this was what I meant, we should talk about in our promotion ..
3000 People from all over the world, all of them with different minds, but also the same goal.. TO MAKE NEM A success! ..
And to build up a unique community, focussed and full of trust and fairness!!! )

I won't sell my 1 MILLION Nem for less than 10 - 15k.
And I hope all of you guys are with me at this point!!!

And sry. for saying that guys; but from these 155 Stakes to sell, you should really give the proceeds of min. the half of them to the promotion.
We'll have a lot of running charges there.
400 Stakes for the development are ok, but they are worth nothing, if we are not able to sell them.
I'm afraid, that these 100 Stakes, the marketing has right now, are proportional a little to undercharged for the long haul.
You can not run an apparatus like this in long term, when you have at least just 2,5% of it as budget for it's advertisement and promotion.
It's impossible to generate big money and awareness out of that. Also you won't find any great company, doing it so.
To be real economical, I would even say you should at least min. double this amount.

There's just another idea and I know I'll maybe not find many friends with that one.
But every stakeholder should have the responsibility to pay another 10k units in an extra bank for the future marketing.
This will be the most important instrument and we haven't payed much for our stakes at all.
With 3k people, each spending just 10k untits, the Nem marketing bank would have another 30mio. coins, which I think would be ok for the beginning.
The benefit from it in %, calculated with ~ 1mio. units, would be much greater than this 10k bucks for each person.
Together with Nem early this year, this 10k would be the 2nd chance of an good investment for the stakeholders.
This should be another thing we have to vote about.
The markets are so flat, the price would regulate itself alone, just because the people don't have the feeling to own 1 000 000 Nem (sooooo much  ), but "just"  this 990 000.
It will be much harder for them to sell, I'm pretty sure.

If anyone keeps track of the progress and release of crypto 2.0 coins, you will notice that there are several promising projects that have been raising a lot of funds, among which are MaidSafe and Ethereum. Unlike these other projects, NEM was created without a large amount of initial funding, giving away most of the stakes for free or for trivial amounts of money. This is good, because it sets us apart from other coins, as a movement marked by equality of opportunity and solidarity without envy.

However, it is also important to realize that in order for NEM to reach its full potential, the community needs to come together and create a vibrant ecosystem that can meet the future needs of our users.

Towards this end, we are planning to prepare to work towards creating key projects required for a comprehensive ecosystem, with an emphasis on mobile apps and a fast, secure exchange, that will fully utilize our upcoming P2P asset exchange. To build this infrastructure, we need to raise funds to compete with the likes of MaidSafe and Ethereum.

Rather than centralize more power with the dev team, we are considering promoting a separate entity that would create and maintain several key ecosystem projects. To create this entity, we should have serious funding to hire full time programmers to work in parallel with the core dev team. This would help us to hit the ground at full speed, right at V1 launch.

If you have any ideas for good ways to raise significant funds (hundreds of BTC), please post them here. I am interested in what kind of thoughts and ideas people have.

How does one get hold of those funds? Coins are not released yet and there is no NEM coins in circulation. Plus the NEM stakes are for the community to claim, not for development. To me it was an oversight and everything is snookered here.

Further, the funds were meant to fund the current core team for their work until V1. Post V1, there will be some 10% left. But that is too late. We cannot be serially acting on roll outs. If there is a way to do things parallel, we should look at that as an alternative.

8th, digital good store and loads other stuff going live on nxt so price should get a very healthy boost and in turn so should nem. if nxt was to ever go parabolic before nem hits any other exchanges, it would make sense that the stakes on the AE would rise in price also cos of people speculating to make more nxt same way alts rise during bitcoin bubble.. but who knows if nxt would go parabolic.. one can dream lol
