Ok

Just thrpwing some words out there which could replace 'foraging'

-yielding
-reaping
-Harvesting ( as we all know)
-garnering

Or NEM could make up its own term as appose to using a dictionary term

for instance

'NEMering'

I like Nemering, might just call it 'Nemming'.

Some unique word would be my preference.
I like Nemering as well, +1 some unique word will be better...

Nemering  would be a unique term, but it also is a city in Germany Smiley

We will make it the capital of the New Economy Movement and make our own flag Smiley

Once we become rich enough we will get our own army and air force too.

Bitcoin miners are firstly looking for reward blocks, and then secondly backing up the network.  The word "miner" is good because it shows that they are randomly trying to get gold (bitcoin).

But in our system people that run a node can't have their primary goal be to earn fees.  NXT has run into this problem.  From a economic perspective, forging in NXT is a losing game.  Most people that are not original founders of NXT will not earn enough fees from NXT to pay for electricity.  Why?  Because there are no block rewards, but instead only transaction fees.

The main motivation behind forging/mining in NEM should be to protect our stakes.  As stakeholders, if we don't run nodes, then the network will fall apart.  I think a word for forging/mining in  POI system should emphasis, not the rewards from fees, but the fact that a person running a node is vested in protecting the network from attack.

Something like "gating" or "guarding" is literally more what is happening.

I like a word more like "backing" though.  As "backers" a person is "backing up" the network, but also getting NEM "back" as a reward.  Additionally, "backers" would be the "backbone" of the network.

Can anybody else think of a word that focuses on maintaining the network but also infers getting a reward?

Yeah, true, I don't think 10 stakes is that much of an issue .. still, they are only allowed to cash out two of them right?

That limit doesn't matter because they can split their stake over several accounts. So we could remove that limit, doesn't change anything anyway...

-1 ?

I am remembering that someone of the devs was suggesting some limit and a way to restrict the amount of stakes. The links below contain some possibilities ?

This was in the queue before the "harvesting" Smiley

Are there any plans to prevent possible sockpuppets to receive more than eg. 5 stakes?

https://nxtforum.org/alternate-cryptocurrencies/nemstake-discussion/msg50732/#msg50732

Or is it now an ineffective way, coz there may be persons, who have "legally" more stakes than defined? (They may have bought them from auctions and AE)

I looked at those accounts on the NXT block explorer.  A lot of that is from NXT whales that have millions and millions of NXT.  Those accounts can't sell their NXT without crashing the market so it is in their best interest to diversify.  NEM is actually the best thing that has come along for them.  It is also in NEM's best interest to have some NXT whales investing in it.  It helps stabilize price support and shows that other people that have been very successful in crypto are looking at NEM as the next big thing. There has been a lot of NXT/NEM hate that is really unnecessary.  A lot of the NEM developers started NEM after working on NXT and there is some crossover.  Even the lead developer of NXT is excited about NEM.

Anyway, right now I don't see it as a problem that one person owns 5-10.  If one NXT whale wants to buy 100 shares, then that whale could possible hurt NEM later on, but with thousands of stakes, one person holding 10 won't really move the market.

I am a little jealous myself actually.  I would love to own 10 stakes. hahahaha.

OK, ive been out of the loop for a while since UF resigned.
I hold a NEMstake and want to know when i need to claim it and to whos NXT account i claim my token with.

I take it we get our 1 million NEM deposited once it hits beta around August?

Since people are criticizing distribution, can i link my BCT username to the stakeholders database?

Right, NEM started out as a clone, but now is totally new code.

At this point, I still consider any publicity to be good publicity.

But soon, yes, we need to make the points very clear about just what NEM is and isn't.

Important player in NXT talks about NEM at 1 hour and 13 minutes.

I wish they would not refer to NEM as a "NXT clone" or "fork of NXT" because it isn't. At least they did clarify it afterwards but it's still in the description on Soundcloud. Good stuff though. Smiley

It  appears most people get their information about NEM from the first returns on Google, which would be the initial registration thread which states NxT is a Fork / Clone, although this information is outdated but it still interests people who have heard of NxT's success in being the #3 crypto.
