Final Development Contract Notice

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TKTIakxUEotmTN4Et80EI7d-8XifgFZ4aBUGAukgLfY/edit#heading=h.xchkdqowarsb

2.1.2 Silver Coins for Distribution to Initial Stakeholders
Based on community consensus, physical silver coins will be minted and distributed to initial NEM stakeholders.

The silver coins shall be distributed as an asset (colored coin), effectively giving all initial stakeholders a parallel, silver-backed digital currency that shall reside on the NEM blockchain. To claim one physical silver coin, one whole silver coin asset is needed.

Note: The execution of the silver coin project is not guaranteed and will only proceed providing that XEM market cap and liquidity are sufficient to cover the expenses with the allocated stakes. If this condition is met, all initial stakeholders will be issued their silver coin asset. If the allocated stakes do not reach a high enough value to fund the project (to pay the mint and cover all costs [shipping costs etc.]) until V1 is released, the complete fund will be transferred to the community fund. "A high enough value" can not be exactly fixed at this time, but to get a feeling: it is estimated that the fund should reach at least USD 260,000 to be successful.

What's wrong in following original contract?
I don't take it as "well it's too valuable now to be distributed to stakeholders" but instead as "ok great now we can execute it with this sufficient valuation".

You kept pushing to give it out for free. You made those statements and now are flip floping.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I can't reason with someone who can't understand what I'm typing.

Here is the through line of all those comments.

Original stakeholders do not deserve any more money.

If money is released from the silver fund it should be used to develop NEM further.

I haven't said anything else throughout. If you can't understand that then have a nap and reread it.

Sounds like you dumped and are having regrets, we all have lost. You know what I do? I try to recoup and use my BTC wisely to recover as much possible.

I stand by my earlier analysis, you dumped and are having second thoughts. Have a nice day  Cool

What do you think spreading it will mean? Just a bunch of bots automatically dumping, you know the drill. You've been around long enough, you know what happens if it was to be given out especially at these prices. I rather have it held in a community fund for future development and expansion.

Wait... you think spreading it will mean MORE dumping than the community perception of the original stakeholders stealing it?

Slippery slope, man.  Slippery slope.

Um, isn't that exactly what I'm saying?

Some choice quotes from a few cm above.

Was there ever an actual statement about plans for this?

Anyway, my position hasn't changed. Initial stakeholders did very well. I don't think they need any more money. What's left over should be going towards benefiting NEM as a whole.

I do not want to receive extra funds from the silver coin thing anyway. It should be for the greater good.

How did your position not change when you were at one point calling for free distribution of coins?

People who failed to redeem coming out of the woodwork again. People who don't have access to their stake address any more having a moan.

I don't think it sends a very forward looking message but I certainly wouldn't object all the same. Original stakeholders should be legends of the past.

and

I really don't see why original stakeholders should be pandered to in any way whatsoever. They've either blown it or reaped the rewards already. It would make NEM look like a closed shop to benefit a small inner circle. It would be like Satoshi handing out his stash to the handful of cpu miners while everyone else looks on in disgust.

If there is a gesture to be made with those funds then it should be an inclusive one.

Prove it, seems like you're a bit salty. Maybe you sold cheap last year?

Eh? Check the rich list.

I am not salty. I don't think the original stakeholders deserve any more XEM than they already received. It achieves nothing.

Agree, original stakeholder is the past. Use this fund for development or promotion.

Ok, seems like you missed your opportunity.

Initial stakeholders get to vote on the matter, they are the community who made all of this possible.  Cool

IMO paying it into the community almost like a crypto-dividend payment is the strongest option.

That being said, I respect it being allocated toward some social program... you just have to be ready for the skepticism and stigma over how effective that use is and god-forbid the damage to the brand if rumors start that the dev team kept it, didn't use it, embezzled it, etc.

I'm indifferent, but it's a slippery-slope toward giving FUDers ammo to label NEM a "scam coin" even when we all know that's not the case.

My 2 cents.  Great work on a great project, all.  I'm happy to be a participant and plan to cover NEM in more depth on a future episode of The Crypto Times.

Which is wrong.. thats not the way to gain widespread adoption, just to let the initial holders make all the decisions. I'm out.

Incorrect, we can influence nothing unless we're on the team proper. There is no formal voting mechanism.

I do not want to receive extra funds from the silver coin thing anyway. It should be for the greater good.

As you say the fund was set aside for silver coins and it should be used for it or be distributed to every original stake holder . Devs dont have time for silver coin project ,so easiest way just distribute xem .

No decisions on the Silver Coin Fund have been made, and probably won't be for a while.

1) money to fund the project isn't a problem. NEM has more than enough liquidity and marketcap.
2) the problem is time and resources to run the project.  it is actually quite an endeavor.  the marketing team is instead trying to build projects on NEM that will make it a lot more famous, so those take priority for the time being. at some point we might have more human resources and can assign a team to run this project, but right now the teams are focused on other things that we consider a higher priority, like refining marketing message, website, and partnerships.
3) if the money for some reason isn't used to fund silver coins, it would go towards some other social program to help the community, like maybe Supernodes or Community Fund. at no point would it be used for a tip for the NEM team, nor the community as a direct payout.

why all so complicated. Just burn it and everyone participates in an equal way, because the supply shrinks...

Already in there bud.  A full ranking system with pretty stars and all

There is even a way to do this on the NEM blockchain.  I have been looking into on-chain reputations for a while.
