Community Project - NewEnglandcoin Graphic Redesign Bounty Initiated
Project Leader: @krypton in DISCORD
This project is mainly led by community members and supported by NENG dev team.  The main motivation of the project is that quite many community members are not satisfied with the current graphic design, in particular the coin logo
that Dev team hastily used for launching of this coin.  Members indicated that they are willing to raise large sum of donation for design of NENG graphics, mainly logo, but not limited to logo, could be graphic pictures for marketing purposes.

The second motivation is to attract more new members into NewEnglandcoin community and increase NewEnglandcoin long term value for NewEnglandcoin hodlers by doing small scale rewards on larger group of bounty participants.

Project Steps:
  • Dev will start a donation address of NENG dedicated for this project where all members can  donate for the Bounty.  Dev will handle admin receving/payment part of project
  • Majority of donated NENG will go to one bounty winner.  But there could be 50 or more graphic designers of bounty participants to win some small scale bounty awards.  The actual bounty award distribution is as below:
      * 90% of funds or 90.9 million NENG raised will be awarded to top one award.  However community may decide to award to up to three designers to share this top award.
      * Top 50 graphic designers will receive bounty reward of 100,000 NENG each.
      * Twitter bounty: 1000 NENG per twitter account, up to 5000 people can be awarded.

  • Dev and community will research for best technology approach on managing the review process, TBD - may be using dropbox, or google drive, or pure email or just DISCORD/Telegram functions
  • Place bounty ads everywhere after  bounty donation amount and technology ironed out
  • Community will review and decide the winner of this bounty, Dev will pay 100% of donated funds to all bounty winners
  • Dev will incorporate the winning graphics automatically as new NENG logo in next software release,  this also means if there are no better design than the current design logo, community may decide to withhold the top award to the future and only award the small scale bounty award for the first round

 All community members are welcome to participate on this to provide feedback with or without donations as the graphic logo change is major change of the coin.

Hi, can you talk to Probitex for them to do the hardfork?
They have not done it yet and the deposits are not being credited to the accounts there.
Thank you

They never contacted us dev for listing NENG there.   But if they are willing to update wallet to fork, all the source code and binary are there in github.

This is a problem, no one said that Probitex was not a NENG exchange.
I have transferred most of my coins there, and now they are lost.
I talked to Probitex support, and they said they're waiting for the dev to contact them.

Sounds like probitex uses excuse.  They can download neng wallet from GitHub themselves and update their wallet to the latest fork.

Make sure check your deposit transaction  ID in explorer website. If you find your deposit can be searched there and has confirmations , then the coin is in exchange, gone out of your hand. If you can not find any ID, then it is different story

in the explorer the transaction has more than 10000 confirmations

Well if it is being sent already to the exchange then would be a real problem especially if coin is not listed into that exchange..Anyway for sure some exchanges has delay when transferring coins. It may take some time like there is a need for the coins of more confirmations. Contacting the dev. may help.you enlighten and aolve your problem..

I contacted them to update the wallet but they do not respond

If they do not respond to you, it is likely that they are going under or a scam exchange. There is not much I can do on my side.

Community member krypton in discord recommended a bounty for redesign for graphic logo and he is willing to donate large sum of NENG for the bounty.  This community based graphic design project is still at early stage.  All are welcomed to comment here or in DISCORD.

Just a clarification from dev point of view.  We certainly welcome any effort on the graphic and we are certainly expecting at some point community will take over the graphic design part.  Once a really good design comes along in the future, the new logo can be incorporated into future releases.

Please check out the whitepaper v1.0.  Our recent research on 50 blocks after fork confirmed that CPU miners (window, linux or mac desktop/laptop miners) obtained 36% of block rewards, ASIC only mined 66% of block rewards.  CPU mining rewards are significant.

And what is the reason for that? Could this be overtaken by ASIC miners any time if there were enough ASIC miners used to mine this?

No,  DynDiff on scrypt is ASIC-restricted.  This algo does not ban ASIC, and we welcome ASIC, but ASIC will do and is doing poorly on mining NENG.  Currently the dominant mining rig is GPU, followed by CPU or ASIC.  I do not have full data of research to back this, but my estimate is that currently 50% blocks are mined by GPU,  30% by ASIC, 20% by CPU miners.  I will publish a new research addressing your question if significantly more ASICs joins NENG in the future.  In short, no,  not even big ASIC miners from Litecoin/Dogecoin can overtake NENG now at my quick calculation. Not worth it, too costly is the reason.

Actually the big ASIC miners do very poorly,  only the small ASIC rigs are OK and are doing better.     krypton93 already mentioned that his asic L3+  only getting a few blocks while his 4-core CPU mined 400+ blocks.

The reason of this was explained in white paper v1.0.  In nutshell,  ASIC miners have weak points, they are like lions, slow moving, powerful. but Lions can not run fast, can not climb trees.  Same logic, DynDiff explored the weak point of ASIC and restricted ASIC mining rigs in this new update.

Good evening, what is and where do I find "rpcuser" and "rpcpassword"?

Thanks

In the cheetah software folder, there is file named "newenglandcoin.conf-example",   renamed it to "newenglandcoin.conf",

use an editor to modify it, windows would be "wordpad",  in mac, not very familiar, maybe macedit  or  TextEdit?

Change the first two lines of the files to a more personalized randomized rpc password / username:
-------------------------
rpcuser=dfas7860
rpcpassword=Fdsf9er9wqr90Fdf
--------------------

Do not use my above example,  just  type in some random charaters + numbers for username/password so that only you know them.

The miner works in other coin too or only in NewEnglandcoin?

For now only NewEnglandCoin. If more coins adopt similar dynamic diff algorithm , the miner could support more in the future.

At this moment ,. CPU miners probably takes 5% to 20% of total block reward, averaging about 10%. Majority of blocks reward still go to ASIC miners.

If this is mined by ASIC miners, does it even make sense for anyone else to compete with that specialized mining hardware?

Please check out the whitepaper v1.0.  Our recent research on 50 blocks after fork confirmed that CPU miners (window, linux or mac desktop/laptop miners) obtained 36% of block rewards, ASIC only mined 66% of block rewards.  CPU mining rewards are significant.

in all pools shows the difficulty  244.137 k  and Net Hash 10-40 Th/s ! and why such errors?

DynDiff on scrypt is new algorithm.  I think pool software only assumes the traditional scrypt algo, not this DynDiff.

10-40 Th/s is probably exaggeration of actually hashrate on NENG.  It can not be that high.  On the other hand, the explorer says only 2.8 Mh/s total network hashrate, this is also exageration on the low side.  The total hashrate on NENG is probably significantly more than 2.8 Mh/s.  In the recent past before the v1.2.x upgrade hard fork, the total hashrate was in the range of 1 G h/s to 2 Gh/s.  There may be more GPU miners now. But still I think the network hashrate probably still in 1 to 2  Gh/s

Interesting mining estimate from Rocks Miners pool:
http://miners.rocks/site/mining
     Name             Amount           Diff    Blocks     TTF***    Hash **   Profit
  NewEngland (scrypt)   20000 NENG   244.137 k   289 913   9 months   44.7 Mh/s   0.00000

*** is  estimated average time to find a block at full pool speed

TTF is 9 months at 244k difficulty at 44.7 Mh/s hashrate.  This is spike difficulty for NENG on the first 3 seconds.  It would take 9 months for this hashrate to find one block.

The wallet "out of sync" warning should be gone for now.  The public chain block length is already longer than that of bad nodes.  Here it is from my wallet getpeerinfo command,
This is one of the bad node with 284124 blocks:
{
"addr" : "51.77.116.183:6377",
"services" : "00000003",
"lastsend" : 1550891119,
"lastrecv" : 1550891119,
"bytessent" : 13018,
"bytesrecv" : 146422,
"blocksrequested" : 8,
"conntime" : 1550888808,
"version" : 70002,
"subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.7.5/",
"inbound" : false,
"startingheight" : 284124,
"banscore" : 0
},

The current block explorer length is 285338.

Dev Policy on Checkpoints on NewEnglandcoin

NewEnglandcoin v1.2.1 update is checkpoints security upgrade to secure the blockchain on hard fork.  Checkpoints technique is controversial method in blockchain world.
In fact, bitcoin itself has not performed checkpoints for a long long time.  The issue with checkpoints is that decentralization of  a coin means that nobody has central control on blockchain.
Certainly NENG dev does not intend to control NewEnglandcoin blockchain and merely view ourself as tech support.  However, frequent checkpoints on a coin means the coin is centrally controlled by dev team.

In order to fulfill decentralization goal of NewEnglandcoin, we as dev do not plan to frequently apply checkpoints technique.  We only intend to apply that on hard fork in the future.
Even for hard fork, we do not intend to impose our forking view by ourselves.  Any future hard fork will have several weeks to a month of pre-annoucement on hard fork in bitcointalk or discord for the intention.  We will also issue release of new software version one week in advance in order for members to prepare fork. The new release will have 1 week compatible blockchain with older version and will have fork a week later.   Therefore, 1 week to 1 month time will be available for NENG members to express any opposing opinions on fork, and there will be minimum of 1 week period to allow DEV to cancel or modify hard fork plans in the future.   We believe such procedure in place on NewEnglandcoin  from now on will surely confirm that
any future checkpoints on hard fork is not indication of any centralization.  NewEnglandcoin will continue to be a decentralized cryptocurrency and controlled by nobody just like bitcoin, litecoin or dogecoin.

The next hard fork or potentially a checkpoint on NewEnglandcoin will be Q3 of 2019, to be determined by our research on the results of v1.2.x release.

really my asic L3+ produces very few blocks! but mining cpu I got for 8 hours 400 + blocks Smiley

Congrats. Just checked my 2 core Linux running cheetah for 17 hours, mined 9 blocks.  I thought CPU were not doing well, you scooped almost all!
