I think that NEO can become a substitute for the Ethereum. As for me, the coin has a great potential for growth. But it all depends on how the Chinese government treats this.

In my own opinion, if you are planning to invest on neo then just highly prefer that you focus on ethereum because it is more popular and most of the people prefer eth so there is higher probability in eth that you will gain more profit.

I think invest ETH is more profitable and comfortable, I say convenient because I have a lot of tokens that use ETH wallet so to be able to transaction ETH need, and in terms of price increases of course ETH will continue to rise while NEO still need time to make me sure.
ETH has decreased its speed of development and now it is better for investments I think. NEO is more mobile and active so it is quite suitable for trading. The choice depends on your aim.
if i have to choose between ETH and NEO, i would choose ETH, because i believe ETH is the most useful altcoin in the cryptocurrency market. NEO on the other hand has just been born recently and it has been supported by most of the chinese investors and its value has risen so much in short time, Although the future for NEO is bright, Ethereum has already been tested by time and has proven its reliability.

In this year Neo started invite more and more new ICOs to crowdfunding. Neo supported those projects by promotion, maybe with money. If they will continue to do that a lot of new good project will get attention to NEO.
All fundamental and technical considerations aside, one might expect NEO to have a price action to ETH that being an price increase or upswing accompanying those ICOs or token launches utilising the NEO protocol, or positive news regarding China and their policies toward crypto.
NEO has a good future. I think in a couple of years NEO will also be a popular coin. But now ETH is better.
