Wow did you really just say that go take your dirty mouth and take it off this forum... Bitcoins are competently legal there is nothing wrong with them people like you keep giving our community a bad name just like silk road when there is just 1 site selling drugs everyone thinks bitcoins is bad but then meanwhile back in America people buy all sorts of drugs with real money there is not just 1 place its fucking everywhere so take your shit elsewhere!

still, the top 3 buy orders appear to be erroneous.
They're real  buys  by people. The won't actually go through at that price since no one will sell at that price. They'll go through at the lower price of any sell that appears.

why wouldn't anyone sell at that price? it's really high, but i take back what i said about them being erroneous.

take the top one for example:

Quote
buy   99999999.99999998   0.00000003

that means as soon as you mine 30 nano i0c you can sell it for 2.99999999 btc (100 million * 0.00000003)

(as long as no-one puts in a lower-rate sell order)

I'm not in a hurry to release it, we will probably prefer to wait until ixcoin is forgotten. Also freicoin will have merged mining, so it's going to be mined even if its price is 1 satoshi (and that's the absolute minimum because I would buy all generated coins at that price if no one else wants them).
But as said, I'm not in a hurry and some parameters need to be discussed. Just want to have it developed the earlier the better.

Dont get me wrong. I think theres a LOT of room to move in the near future in the digital currency market. The problem atm is theres only so many miners and so many users. And of course the infrastructure that supports these new currencies is still in development. However, things are moving fast. You could release a new currency now but I wont mine it. Why should I? It might be worth something one day so I might mine it initially to create a stockpile but so will a lot of other people and all we will do is hoard & up the difficulty for 6 months. With no buyers in the market the currency will stagnate (and be forgotten?) and you miss your entry point. Enter with a new currency when the other currencies are over-priced and theres more interest from people that are looking to diversify (to maximise its potential), and make your effort in developing the new currency worthwhile.

Just be careful atm about developing too many currencies. For the currency to have (or develop a value), you need 'demand'. We already have 4 currencies...

how much would it cost me to get one of you genius coders to make me a new bitcoin fork?  Cool

I'll do it if you're actually willing to pay for the project.  PM'ing you.

Hi, anyone wiling to be paid for developing an alternative chain may be interest in this thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/73-btc-bounty-implement-demurrage-in-an-alternative-chain-with-merged-mining-36190

You can make another offer there.
More "gesellians" have contacted me, and maybe they want to participate in the bounty.

I have an exchange up: https://i0exchange.bitparking.com/main

Deposit and withdrawal of i0coins are disabled until the chain is active. You can create an account and deposit btc in the meantime.

someone is apparently willing to spend 99999999.99999998 BTC on i0coins... how is an order like this allowed to be in the system, given that noone owns or will ever own 100 million BTC? nevermind, it's just the 'rate' not the amount.

still, the top 3 buy orders appear to be erroneous.

So any official words on what the starting difficulty is going to be at?

I hope it's not "1" , because that would be silly for obvious reasons.

i0coind has been locking up on me. The exchange, which has no i0coind transactions yet but is running a client has hung twice. The pool has hung once. This is using commit 364742d79411518ef3ee123d3d1fd653b4674354.

Well, the differences from the original code aren't many. I bet we could make a little program to create currencies. You choose:
- Name
- BTC per block
- Difficulty increase
(...)

Then click a button and that's it. You have another currency  Cool

I could try to do it, but I don't have the time at the moment...

any progress on this?

I actually think this is a good idea, local communities can create their own cryptocurrency, etc.   I've downloaded the latest bitcoin source and the latest ixcoin source, and ran a linux diff on it and there are many changes, not just 'rename all instances of bitcoin to ixcoin and change 1 number'

so anyway I want to start a local crpytocurrency blockchain but I am not sure if I can do it.  some kind of cookie cutter cryptocurrency creator app would be nice, lol.  how much would it cost me to get one of you genius coders to make me a new bitcoin fork?  Cool

Wait, we don't need the I0coin client to participate in the pool, do we?

Nope, just point your regular miner at the i0guild pool 5 minutes before the start. It's nice and simple.

Well my question would be then how do you generate the i0coin addres if you dont have the client?

You just start mining beforehand, and add a wallet once you've downloaded the client.  Or you can wait for an exchange to open up and set your wallet to the exchange address for direct withdrawals (be careful about temporary addresses though).
