Fantastic news! I hope to see every time a new (micro)nation starts to accept bitcoin as national currency.

This is just great. Im gonna visit (whats there) next week. If Croatian police allows . Since they didn't allow any body to go there last few days.
And from Serbian side u can only go there with a boat.

Remember to visit also their banks , a bitcoin bank! Yuppi....

We could also occupy Liberland and call it BitcoinLand or LandAwesome. Who is in?

I am in but that will not be sufficient. We need to spend also to get a system there and that will need investment in terms of real money.

I know for a fact a couple of real mean squirrels live there. Not gonna be a cakewalk.
It is a war torn place indeed.

Can we crowdfund Bitcoinlandia? There must be also somewhere another forgotten piece of land...

"The truth about Bir Tawil and most other similar places on Earth is that they have remained unclaimed because there is simply no reason to claim them. Without farmland, oil or other natural resources, no country or individual has any practical motive to take control."

The revolution will be monetized!
The website says it's in some kind of no mans land. But on maps its in Serbia. I think if you killed someone here you would find the Serb policija informing you that you are actually in Serbia.

Unless you are talking about a giant size economy, bitcoin role will be more towards like an experiment in a totally new environment. Nevertheless it still means something if it gets adopted as a legal tender in the state.

A Great Time to Start Something!
I wish there was more news about this country. Only 7 kilometers squared.

Welcome to "Liberland"

A Czech man is claiming to be the president of a new country he founded in Europe.

Vit Jedlicka, a member of the conservative Party of Free Citizens in the Czech Republic, is the self-appointed president of Liberland, which he says sits on unclaimed terra nullius territory wedged between Serbia and Croatia. The 3 sq. mi. “country,” where taxes are optional and a military is nonexistent, does not “interfere with the territory” of the two states, according to Liberland’s website.

“The objective of the founders of the new state is to build a country where honest people can prosper without being oppressed by governments making their lives unpleasant through the burden of unnecessary restrictions and taxes,” reads a statement announcing the creation of the new country this week. The country’s motto is: “To live and let live.”

Jedlicka, speaking by phone from Prague, told TIME that the effort began as a political stunt to garner media attention. “It started a little bit like a protest,” Jedlicka, 31, said. “But now it’s really turning out to be a real project with real support.”

The project has already received roughly 20,000 applications for citizenship, according to Jedlicka, who estimated that the country will receive as many as 100,000 applications by the end of next week...

There is this new Free republic of Liberland which was just founded on internationally free land which no state has claimed. There is a word it will accept BTC as the currency. http://liberland.org/en/about/ http://liberland.org/en/news/

If this is true then it will be stepping stone, slow and steady growth for BTC Smiley
