You have to be 'active' on the forum for at least 4 hours. Very easy to accomplish with a certain Firefox extension.

Me too - but I think the BitCoin Forum got a reasonable policy here!
Sounds reasonable but is really to bad for someone like me who just wants to start using the forums!

I think more forums need these restrictions, weed out some of the damn bots that spam all over the place.

I also run an SMF forum, though not bitcoin related. Hopefully this forum is using a plugin to prevent spam bots. I've had 100% success with my forum in keeping them out.
4 hours is a pretty long time to be logged on, especially if you log out once you're done reading and posting... I'll just have to wait.
