Rob E eloquently demonstrates the shortcomings of the system.
So did probably most people in the previous 160+ pages of this thread.

Rob E eloquently demonstrates how you get banned for posting insubstantial posts.

This thread is a very bad place to do this, by the way. I read every post to this thread.

Awesome.

So fk ng what . . i see a lot of douche bags covering their own arse while the planet goes to shit  .. you think i give a fuck about you what you have to say about me ? Hm ? I'm saying it how it is  .. 85-90 % are covering their own arses there's a very small percentage doing it for the greater good  . . I been covering this thread for about 5-6  weeks  .. . i see people thinking about themselves and covering their own arse . . i'ts sad  .. if we .. Focus . .on doing this for the greater good i.e focusing for creating a new world currency a currency that cannot be controled this planet could have hope and we could move into a new renaisance. . we haven't got time any more to think about our own arses either we make a stand what ever the consequences or we all perish together and be slaves under the  current slave system establishing  itself . . i don't want to be a slave.  Speak u p. .

I've moderate big forums but in comparison to bitcoin talk they were really small;) and without having the new user restrictions it's not anything that anyone could handle! if you spend 4 hours online in a forum and send at least 5 posts, by then you would know if you want to know something where to look for it!

Interesting idea to combat trolling. Just can't wait to post in the other sections of the forms!

The more I think about these restrictions, the less they make sense to me. I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining: I can just post two more content-free posts to get the full privileges of an esteemed member of this community.

Even if you're not a spammer, posting five times in a thread that no one reads (like this one) doesn't make you any more aware of Bitcoin than somebody who didn't post a thing. The idea that newbies are incapable of posting anything intelligent, and asking them to become more experienced by posting in threads that no one ever reads, is certainly brilliant.

Or not.

For spam protection it would make a lot more sense to run CAPTCHAs for the first n posts, where n is calibrated to thwart crowdsourcing. The system currently in place just encourages noise.

yeh i think it's more an idea to keep a sort of hierarchy. .But it's moot ( no practical significance) because the guys that been on a while are fukking utter douche bags . . and i don't resect that .. fkNg pathetic.  We're the new crew  .. move over . . Equality for all.

This wouldn't work against a determined spammer, who would just spit out five posts on this board four hours after having registered, before immediately spamming other boards. But it sure is annoying for regular users like myself.
