Hahah, I guess if this counts it is barely a limitation.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

Surely it is not sensible to have this for really old users? I have been a member of the forum since 2011 and just a lurker and today I wanted to post something for the first time and it turned out that I can't. Wouldn't it make sense to have the restriction only for users that have registered in the last year?

Great idea indeed, not many people would bother posting a few time in a single section a few times just to spam the board.

I might suggest the idea to some other boards I use a lot.

Hello everybody. Just registered.

I was pulling my hair off for 10 minutes thinking wth? I can't post anything. Thanks for clarification, now I know WHY.  Grin Somewhat harsh but I agree and see no problem.

Probably won't post too much just wanted to ask when current DDoS started because everything was going fine till I restarted PC after minor adjustment inside the rig. Probably ~15.30-16 GMT?

humm, after having a post deleted i'm starting to see another side of these restrictions. i think maybe the trolls are inside rather than out.
they put up these rules for newbies, forcing newbies to make a few posts. then delete their posts.
you know its a troll coz they don't even have their name on the deletion so you can't pm them. it's not enough that we have to wait 4 hrs reading posts that we cant reply to, but they have to go into the newbie section and go around deleting post and not putting their names to it. must have been a slow day.

I think it would be better just to block posters that are trolling than make these rules.
