i can't believe they are talking about starting back up on their twitter again.

pay back every cent you owe first then...

things are so peaceful mining without them. no more wtf difficulty from 35k to 100k! should i switch? should i stay? oh boy difficulty back down to 20k.

coin i mainly mine been such a stable difficulty past few days...

If you think about it, the only way they can feasibly pay back this amount from such a small company is to reestablish operations and perhaps run with zero fees and that way customer are repaid by benefit in kind.  They will have to run banner ads to cover costs or something and something is better then nothing.  'opps' isnt helping anyone

The problem is the money stolen did not belong to this company, it was held in trust.  In fact this asset was not held on the company balance sheet, or should not have been as they were merely operating in trust before eventual payment.    The company itself is too small to pay that amount, unless it was somehow a subdivision of a large exchange or something.  If that was true they'd have learnt not to keep all fund in a hot wallet, theres no need for funds which are payable in the next 24hr.

It seems just poor planning.   They should allow mining but the balance is paid in a fast alt coin with low transaction fees so that small amounts can be dealt.   Crypto is only ever strong when distributed, the minute it gets centralised we see problems inevitably occur.

Small company? really? How much a month did they earn just this year?

feel sorry for all those who lossed money on this one.

i am in the middle of a start up myself.
it will include, holding, trading and mining. But even a noob should know not to store that amount of btc or any other currency in one hot wallet. That is just a public invitation for hackers.

except for the part that we will trade all other amounts will be stored on cold wallets.

What I heard was that the hacker modified their payment code structure to send BTC from many separate locations to one wallet, from which he/she then sent the 4700 BTC to their own wallet elsewhere. The hacker somehow compromised a network system that they were able to access and then used developer credentials to do stuff on the network. Either one of the developers there did this or a hacker (or group of hackers) spent allot of effort to gain all that information. Either one is possible at this stage.
If hacker used developers credentials, it's 99% inside job. Anyway, if they don't return money to miners, they should go to hell. To go on working with company with such level of responsibility is stupid. It's unbelievable. Just distribute money on different accounts with different credentials, use Ledger, Trezor or usb-flash drive for fuck's sake. It blows the mind.

Its not easy to hack a system unless there is an inside hand. I bet that one of their staff member has stolen the bitcoins.

One of their employees or someone that one of their employees associate with.

I do not believe that there is no hand of owners or developers Nicehash.
I hope everything will be resolved.

The way I see it only a retard or someone who wants it to look like a hack keeps 4700 BTC in a hot wallet there's no way any legit company wouldn't have cold storage again either their retarded or wanted this to happen

I'm thinking the same thing.  Wish they had some sort of explanation as to why that much btc was sitting in a hot wallet, even if it is bullshit.

I started with Nicehash, but more I go into crypto, less I like them.
They were too greedy:
1) They took forks;
2) They made very high withdrawal fees – one of the reasons, why many miners lost money;
3) They basically made miners to use their wallets;
4) They paid less, than pools.
They sucked so badly. I can't imagine that someone would keep all money in one account.
Mining on pools is much better than using Nicehash. I left Nicehash a month ago, but lost 50 USD because of my laziness - left two cpus on Nicehash.
To tell the truth I didn't expect that such service would fail like that. Good lesson for all.

(Its pretty crazy to see that much BTC in one address. I wonder how the hacker(s) are planning to move them out.)

Maybe they already have moved some of them out by using the private keys to claim bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, bitcoin diamond and bitcore. Thats around 10%  (7 MUSD).

ROFL and maybe you need to do some research on how that actually works, cause when you do youll find out that which you've said is not probable. anyone with half a brain would know this. talk about not being the brightest bulb in the pack

nicehash had one wallet address, that probably have hundreds or even thousands of coins in it, they essentially it was easy for them to be hacked.

Let's give them some time, maybe they will find a way to pay us back, same as Bitfinex did.

Umm, not likely. All coins are gone. Hackers BTC address is here:
