Yes, I'm an asshole
Just try https://www.youtube.com/ in light mode, then switch to dark mode. Hope you will understand. Browser addons do not work well for webpage dark mode - colours, etc.

Unless I'm wrong, initially --and probably still-- the preference for dark mode instead of light mode is to reduce eye strain, as you've established on your very own opening post, as well as Cantsay here, as well as to reduce glare [flashbang, anyone?] when accessing apps and platforms during bed time when our eyes already adjusted to the dark of our room.

So, if your concern and needs are based on those two initial reason of dark-mode preferences, there is little to zero sense on arguing specifically designed dark mode by the web developers because it feels like "pro". I don't think most people here "love" dark mode for aesthetic reason. They simply doesn't like being blinded by the sudden burst of brightness. Simple as that.

I use the "default" light theme on my tablet and laptop [though I rarely access through my laptop] and have my android phone force set dark-mode that let me experience the forum as what depicted by libert19 because more likely than not, I won't access the forum through that tiny screen unless I really have to, meaning I only use them if I'm the road and didn't bring one of my tablets or laptop, or when I'm ready for bed and got notified for something interesting by the notifier. And that dark mode works just fine.

Bitcointalk forum needs dark mode. Many popular websites already have it, for example, youtube. People love dark mode, plus members can browse forum without straining their eyes.

Dear OP, You should search for related topics on Google or here on Bitcointalk's search engine. If you had done that, then you would have found many topics automatically. But since I think you are not a struggler and wanted to get answers to your question directly and quickly, you made this topic. If you have chosen this topic, then try to engage with it. As it is not a good factor to take part in the discussions.
I hope you will not mind my words. But you can easily find some good dark mod extensions or Chrome software on the web. On Google by simply searching for them. In my personal view, I like the current theme of Bitcointalk, and I hope that in the future the feature of dark mode will be added, but I hope that it will be optional.

I also love dark mode but only at night when I am reading, but while I making the post I don't like dark mode because it seems so odd and strange and it also slows the creation or editing of the post. That's why I prefer dark mode sometimes but not all the time.

Dear OP, first of all, thanks for asking this question, because a few months back, I also faced an issue in reading in white theme so I thought I should look for a dark theme add-on. But I found only one famous extension ( Known as Dark-Readers) I hope you might have used it. Well, the thing is back then I found this extension not worth using, as it lacks some color schemes. Well, I just installed it again and I think If I will spend some time then I will get used to it.

You also might get used to it after spending some time. You must be wondering why I thanked you because I found this useful topic List of Bitcointalk.org Userscripts/ Add-ons / SMF patches shared by Hatchy

Dark mode is pretty fuckuped if you are colorblind.

I happen to have color blindness and I hate dark mode. Smaller the screen the harder it is to read.
According to studies, it is proved that males are in abundant who face color blindness than females. Maybe that's why OP is saying, BTT needs only two themes (Black and White) I think OP is female. Just saying in case. And few days back, my teacher told us that, almost every male has more colorblindness in compared to females. That's why females can detect a slight color difference between lipsticks and dresses while males fail to do so.

Of course Bitcointalk forum needs two modes - light and dark.

Why do you think there is a need, you do not have a poll here to figure out if there is a request and a need, there are external sources recommended to to you for you to experiment.
It is either the admin changes the theme because the default theme that is being used here has little or no modification on the theme, although there are a lot of tutorials about tinkering with the CSS to implement a dark light mode switcher but I doubt the admin will bother to do it.

If you can use mobile browser like Via, Phoenix or UC browser, they all have night mode.
Does anyone know any solutions for Tor on Android?

Check your phone settings, if there is something like 'Dark mode/theme' option, it's system wide and makes all apps follow dark mode.

I personally didn't like it [1]. Even tho, dark mode is supposed to less strain eyes, it does for me. I like light themes better.

Bitcointalk is not like other "popular" websites. Maybe it can't even be called popular, because ordinary users rarely come (or stay) here. Simply put, this forum is not as useful to everyone as YouTube or the like.
I would question why OP is even here if he didn't even take the time to browse through the first few pages of Meta, where he'd probably find that this discussion was recently had, and in which I posted (for probably the hundredth time) a variation of this:

Hey, whaddya know, another thread asking about a mobile-friendly version of bitcointalk!  What's it been, like a month since the last one?  It's probably only a few pages deep in Meta, OP.

OP, either deal with what you're given or suck it up and stop making noise.  You can argue about this until you're blue in the face....or just put on some goddamn sunglasses while you work your way up to joining a bounty.  Lots of luck to you.

While you say Bitcointalk needs a dark mode, I wonder how you managed to reach this conclusion? Was there a meeting held where this consensus was gotten?

"Dark Mode" has become such a bedrock part of tech culture that memes are made about people that use "Light Mode".

Dark mode is pretty fuckup if you are colorblind.

I happen to have color blindness and I hate dark mode. Smaller the screen the harder it is to read.

A lot of men have color blindness so if you go to forced dark mode which is easier than lite or dark mode yiu are screwing a lot of people.

I have zero issue if we go to two modes lite or dark as long as we keep the old school method of thread formating.
This is my second time of seeing someone who does not like dark mode. For me, any website I visit what I look out for is the dark mode. Because humans differ that is why we must continue to have options for people to chose.
I am used to this forum format, but if I want to enjoy my dark mode, I do it with my browser. Some browsers have the capacity to switch modes, but browser dark mode on bitcointalk does not give good blend for the sight.

I use simpleminer for my 100 plus mining gpus.

He switched. to dark only.

I need to go to my 65 inch samsung tv to see it clearly.

Rather than my ipad mini.

Rather disgusted with the switch.

Chrome does have a lite option that is somewhat helpful with his site.

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
Been using the Darkreader add-on for a long time, and it's easily customizable to any shade of darkness you want. It has never failed me. It also supports Firefox for android and tor browser

https://github.com/darkreader/darkreader

You are going to need an add-on or extension. I use dark reader at the moment, and the good thing about it is you can adjust to any shade of darkness you want.

I cannot say I concur when you state the forum needs dark mode because I in my opinion your view is subjective. Nevertheless it would probably be considered as one of many feature requests and assessed by theymos. I doubt it will gain traction though but if you feel strongly about the issue you raise, you could consider adding a poll in order to see what the community thinks about it.

Of course Bitcointalk forum needs two modes - light and dark.
Bitcointalk is old - although improvements such as mode features are also expected, but you can expect them to be implemented in EpochTalk. There are many improvements that users expect from bitcointalk - but they realize that they cannot be realized easily. The main solution is to use help from a third party - that will help you for now until there is an official upgrade on the forum.

While you say Bitcointalk needs a dark mode, I wonder how you managed to reach this conclusion? Was there a meeting held where this consensus was gotten? While you have made a valid suggestion- because that's what it's supposed to be- it's quite disturbing how you keep trying to turn this forum into a competitive platform like the social media apps you mentioned.
Well, you have been supplied helpful links to change yours to dark mode. Sometimes I feel you just create some posts just for traffic purpose and not so it can benefit others.

When webpage have dark/light mode, it is always better than any addon. Just check youtube dark mode.
Well, this isn't the trendy webpage mate and the only thing for you to experience this dark mode is by adding those extensions or wait until the owner made it available for us. Been here for years and I already tell myself that I'll be the one to get accustomed.

Are you looking for the forum to look like YouTube? Or you want dark mode because of the strains the current light mode causes to your eyes?

You have given multiple choices here on how you can use the forum on dark mode so I don’t see any reason why you’re still dragging YouTube into the discussion, if you so much like YouTube’s dark mode then you might as well just stay there. Currently there’s no inbuilt dark mode the only way you can use it is either you use a browser that has a dark mode feature or you install extensions or run the script in your tampermonkey.
