This is bad news for many many coins since this is their only platform for now. Hopefully everything will be fine and the new owners will reborn nova better than ever.

Never heard about them. Are they big enough to worry about it?  Smiley

They are a relatively small exchange is my understanding.

They started to close new registrations. Did they mention the reasons for closing the platform?

Does anyone have theories or informed opinions about who the buyer is?  Jokes or wild speculation are also welcomed.

I don't normally use Nova but have from time to time to get some of the more rarer coins, and also to purchase some extra DeepOnion.  I wonder what this will do to the BitConnect users.  Their stated source of income to pay out their large interest fees comes from bot trading... I assumed that was coming from Nova since that's the only external exchange Bitconnect trades on.  Be interesting to see what happens to that project.

Well given that bitconnect doesn't really have a trading bot they can probably just lie and say that they're moving it to another exchange. Hopefully though it pulls the plug on their ponzi scheme.

If you are a user of Nova Exchange, this concerns you:

Quote
Kindly note "Novaexchange" will have new owners and management effective April 2018, with major upgrades to the exchange to better handle scaling, stability and security.

For better management and security of customer funds we have decided to close down Novaexchange so that the users can withdraw all their funds with no participation/responsibility of action of the new management.

Preliminary plan:
2017-10-30 This information goes public, user registration closes, addcoin page closes, disabling deposits of ETC and ETH
2017-11-30 Deposits disabled for ALL coins, all users get level 3 verified account level
2017-12-15 ONE last deposit scan to take care of deposits made after 2017-11-30
2018-01-31 Email reminder to all registered users
2018-02-28 Trading engine stops, dice game stops, API stops
2018-03-31 Login stop, website replaced with information
2018-04-15 Support closes, all Novaexchange user data removed

Remaining user balances that has not been withdrawn before 2018-04-01 will be considered a donation and is not refundable.
Closed for new manager and owners with more feature can add to exchange in next year! This is best for all member but in short times, we have lost a good exchange!

their service is good enough at the moment.
unfortunately, if they close their exchanges services.
certainly the brand matters a lot pertimbanagn for this decision.
hopefully this does not complicate other altcoin markets.

That's very sad news. Their income was increased due to indian users by 10x fold or even 20x fold seeing popularity website goes skyhigh from march 2017 till now, and probably because of these they are closing it now. Maybe they will set-up new exchange, even better, but trading will be halted for several months and this exchange had good opinion, and was respectable, even if small.

Poor me, I've just sent 0.3 BTC to Novaexchange, then purchased some altcoins. Right after all transactions finished, I got the announcement.
You are still be able to withdraw/move your altcoins/money to other site which listed them before April 1st, 2018. It shouldn't be a problem then.
I never used Novaexchange before, but this ownership changes also make me surprised what was the reason they decided to sell novaexchange.

This is quite sad news, to me. I do not use Nova Exchange anymore, but they were among the very first exchanges I used in the very beginning since they were easy to open accounts with, did not need verification, and had support for a lot of alts that I could not find anywhere else.

But I am glad to read that this is not just a closure, but a means to pave the way for the new management. Hopefully, this will also include skilled developers and a great support team,,, you know, so we do not worry about wallet failures and 20 days to get a reply from support!
