I hav my doubts when it comes to the purposes that XRP serves. What kind of problem does it solve? It is not decentralized and could be shut down any second by authorities. What is the advantage of a coin like XRP over the coins that are in the top ten? Maybe the transaction fee, ok. But it is a risky coin as it won't be able to resist intervention by court or authorities.

I think I read they are in constructive talks with the SEC, but haven't heard about a final settlement yet. The price action allows some speculation though. I suppose if there was no agreement in sight, XRP wouldn't increased as much.
