In the U.S. there are these machines in grocery stores called "Coinstar"...they were originally used for fiat coins but now they've modified them so you can buy Bitcoin from them. This is great for mass adoption!

I don't think so, even if they made a lot of those machines that allow people to buy Bitcoin from it, it will still not contribute to the mass adoption in my point of view, because of the fact that Bitcoin is not that easy to learn thing for average people that do not have or possess only a few amounts of knowledge about modern technologies and innovation. The reality is not all people in this world will have the privilege to use this kind of technology called Crypto Currency because of many reasons.
In my country, anyone can buy Bitcoin on any 7/11 convenience store and it started around 2014 but until now there is no mass adoption happening in here. Smiley

Buying bitcoin from a the grocery store is step ahead in adoption easily available for users to buy bitcoin this step will definitely ease of getting bitcoins
USA is developed country so it is not impact of the entire world. Because many peoples are aware in Bitcoin so majority of the Americans also involved in crypto holding so we should spread the some other country is a right option and I appreciate this initiative of grocery store.

I'm sure it'll become more common in the coming years. We even have btc atms now and i think access to btc in grocery stores are much easier to attain. This just shows the trajectory of btc towards becoming adopted. Slowly, btc is being used in simple transactions already and in time, especially if btc becomes a little more stable, mass adoption is coming.

These services always charge a large percentage towards fees, it is much better to just use a bank to transfer money to an exchange and end up with more coins in the end.

I'm still glad to see more options available for everyone to get started in crypto though.

Such is another great feat of cryptocurrency. Gradually, the patronage and exposure is growing and in the next few years, many stores will adopt this payment method as the customers opt for it anytime a purchase is made. The future of cryptocurrency is bright as it heads towards the mass adoption.

The market dip and the quest by most members here to see the highs of 2017 has prevented us from appreciating the massive mass adoptions going on all around the world. This is quite exciting news.

Having three machines in a grocery store in US will not promote bitcoin world wide  Cheesy Tongue . It will take a long time for mass adoption, early we had an expectation that bitcoin will be having a huge adoption but it turns out that it slowed down and it will take some time for that to happen, the delay happened when the decision on how to move forward about the software upgrade kept extending and the transactions delays and charges increased which kept the adoption rate to this situation.

What a great news indeed to hear about that the Bitcoin is already been available on the grocery store. But we all know that not all countries are yet capable to have this. But to have this kind of information, we can say that this is truly good for the mass adoption.

They are powered by coinme, this is a good news but I'm thinking on how much would be the fee? I like the tagline they made, "Coins are money, too! Treat yourself for a change". They have a $2,500 limitation for each customer and this kind of news adoption is always positive. The era of bitcoin ATM is now starting, expect more of it for the upcoming months.

I have not heard how much these ATMs are charging per transactions but I am hoping that the fees are competitive and not abusive so that we can expect more and more people to be getting into this  and thereby helping for the steady and continual adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. The business of Bitcoin ATM is now taking off as more and more projects are focusing on this segment of the cryptocurrency marketplace. Soon am sure that if this business can be profitable we can see many ATMs to be sprouting all over the place worldwide. The thing here is making Bitcoin as close to as many people as possible.

I don't think that video is real or fake. But if it is real, then surely it is a great idea. We are near the era of Bitcoin ATM. It will be a great news for Bitcoin lover also. Hopefully day by day new technology will be added to Bitcoin.

This is a welcomed development for Cryptocurrency .
I wish I can get something like this or enterprenuers and stores in my country would start accepting bitcoin for the exchange of goods and services.
It would really drive up the adoption rate of the blockchain .
It would make it easy for people to own Cryptocurrency effortlessly and afford those who have bitcoin the opportunity to buy with it.

So it is pretty similar to a Bitcoin ATM which has been active since 2017? As Bitcoin ATM's are adopted pretty much everywhere, I don't see the point of this, so I wouldn't use this. These guys are late 2 years, ATM's are even in the poorer countries while these are at a few grosery stores. It also has a 11% fee which maybe even higher than at the ATM, I think this isn't profitable to use at all.

The fees are indeed quite high, but for some people it's just worth it for the convenience.
According to an article from Cryptoslate, you'd pay 4% in fees plus the trading spread.

https://cryptoslate.com/coinstar-kiosks-sell-bitcoin/

Note that the article also mentions that you pay a whopping 11.9% in fees to count your change in those Coinstar machines.
Also, you can't exchange your coins into Bitcoin.

.. snip ..

A good step in the way of adoption in terms of making btc available to a new audience
But keep the question .. Is this the best way to buy with high fees often?
The second and best step for this audience is P2P.

That bolded statement is what concerns majority of us. Of course we wanted to try it for ourselves but what about after that? The exorbitant fees will turn off a lot of crypto enthusiast. They may try it once, just for the sake of experiencing it, but to always used that services when you're in a grocery? I doubt that there will be a second time as there are others services that can be utilized and it's way more cheaper.
