In for another you weren't selected email!

I have a zotac 3090 coming tomorrow from BH.  Probably gonna sell it as the power draw is a bit high for me compared to the mhs.  It was kind of a buy now ask questions later when I saw the add to cart button.  Pretty surprised as it was a long time since I was able to manual a card on really any site.

It's a nice day for both alts and bitcoin with a lot of all time highs!  Would like to see eth continue to rise vs BTC even as BTC rise vs the USD

Set up 2 miners today using the Rebtech board and HP server PSUs, 5 5700's on each, using HiveOS.  Ran out of time and still need to tweak the settings but everything went fairly smooth so far.  Those boards work great.

what do the rebtech boards look like?  do you have a link?

Surprised you have not seen them already.  Been all over Youtube on all the big mining channels.

https://rebtech.ai/pf/rebtech-8gpu-mb-amd-a6-8500-4g-ddr3-120g-msata-8-x-usb-pciex/

I ordered direct from the company, which is in Romania.  Only took about a week to get them.  Only needed 2 for now but got an extra just in case.  Memory, CPU, GPU, all built in.  8 USB ports, no USB to PCI card needed.  6 pin power hookup, so works great with the server PSU.  Uses almost no power at all.  I bought 2 64GB MSATA drives to install onto them with HiveOS.

And they are basically size and designed like a GPU.  I actually put on the frame along side the GPU's.

Ah! Sold!
It was the FTW3 version.

I was wondering, at what price point could i purchase one to break even? Since need a graphics card, i'm not looking for profit but break even would be nice!
I need to keep searchng

I paid 1300 + 42 to ship or 1342 for the ftw3 it would have been 879 + 35 shipping and 65 tax or  979 if evga had one in stock.

I personally do not think it is worth more then that price. which was a markup of about  370 usd.

So far it has earned me about 270.

So if I sold it for 1342 I would make 270 usd on it.

Guys, if you had the opportunity to grab a used 3080 for 1700$ would you do it?

no

I did grab this laptop new from best buy

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-g5-15-6-fhd-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-8gb-ram-amd-radeon-rx-5600m-256gb-ssd-60hz-red-print-backlit-keyboard-grey/6409419.p?skuId=6409419

I had multiple discounts and paid 700 bucks.

it is doing 34mh and pulling 130 watts can't figure out how to unlock power settings on the unit.

as I know the gpu could be set to lower volts. I am an elite plus member and have 45 days to return it. If I can't set power lower I will return it.

these would be a good buy if you can unlock setting on the amd 5600m gpu and get it to burn less power.

using the fn+G7 key I dropped power down to 116 watts.

that is the entire laptop at the wall on a kill-a-watt meter.

That looks like a keeper I can use this in the  clifton farm to run any desk and mine at the same time.  I will post a video.

at dell it is here
https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/gaming-laptops/dell-g5-15-se-gaming-laptop/spd/g-series-15-5505-laptop/gn5505eidnh

at best buy it is here.
https://www.bestbuy.com/profile/ss/orders/order-details/BBY01-806446101970/view

I will get back on this  as it seems to run okay at 34mh and 116-120 watts at kill-a-watt meter.

the oversized brick rates at 240 watts.

Bios is kind of locked down. But it may improve.

Yes now is a good time to sell your gear for top dollar. However be aware and know the risks of selling on eBay. Ebay can bring you the most money and its convinient because you don't need to meet strangers. Just pack it up and drop it off at the courier. However...

They have a transaction policy that is easily sided with the buyer. Basically what happened in the past with crypto bubbles was that people bought GPUs or ASICs and overpaid for them. These people were newbies and didn't know how mining works. They assumed that if they buy a $500 GPU which earns $5/day/GPU that they will make $5/day forever. And what usually happens they make less and less money. From $5/day to $4/day to $3/day .... and eventually they send you a message on eBay asking for a refund "Saying GPU isn't as described". Then all of a sudden you get a message from Paypal saying there is a dispute open.

You can do your best to describe your side of the story to Paypal but they won't care. You will need to accept the return, sometimes losing money on shipping both ways and are stuck with bad feedback.

This generally almost never happens during bear markets or sideways markets. Very rarely can you get taken for a ride then. But during a bull market its very common. So becareful.

I agree 100% with Phil - If I still had any older GPUs mining I'd be selling them all at the peak right now. The resale value is enormous now and summer heat is coming too. Wink

Every card older then my 5000 series amds is sold off.

I do have a 1050ti mostly because it is white and I use it in a white rig that does not mine.

Buysolar has  3 or 4 1080ti's left.

We have  a mix of

63 cards :

 amd 5000 series + 6000 series +  nvidia 3000 series.

I did find a laptop with an amd 5600m in it for an okay price.

I ordered it and will see if it works okay.  it is supposed to do 33mh at 75 watts cost me 856 - 40 = 816 - 30 = 786

if it does 33mh at 75 watts it would earn me 3 a day so 262 days to break even plus it is a decent laptop.

I sold off a few thousand doge at 6.9 and 7.9 cents. I converted them to 1.8 ltc

Not much doge left about 17000 and I am still mining 10000 of them a month along with ltc.

my ltc/doge mining is stupid good.

a pair of  l3+'s earn 8 usd  a day and burn 34 kwatts so for a 5 cent miner they make 6.30 a day in LTC+Doge. way better than an s9

which does 5.04 and burns 34 kwatts  so a 5 cent miner makes 3.30 for the same power use.

Given that

- ETH network hashrate has tripled in the last 12 months
- ETH network hasrate seems to have gone exponential
- EIP may/may not be coming
- my electricity rate is $.18
- my daily gross seems to be down about 20%
- Old cards sell for more than when they were new

It probably is time to sell my rusted out fleet of:

470's -l
480's
580's
1080's
Vega 56's
Vega 64's

And keep my
5700
3060

What is the general consensus?

So long  goodbye farewell to :

470's ------------------------------ Sell
480's ------------------------------ Sell
580's ------------------------------ Sell
1080's ----------------------------- Sell
Vega 56's ------------------------- Sell
Vega 64's -------------------------- Sell

Covert all sales to CASH/BTC/ETH.   your choice of ratio to use.

If it were my gear.

40% CASH
40% BTC
20% ETH

All those cards will pay you top dollar.

holding the proceeds in a mix protects you

 if coins crash
and if coins whale.

even though I would do 40/40/20 mix.
a 33/33/33 mix
a 50/30/20 mix

all work.

shuffle gave me

“ you were not selected “

oh well for April 5

oh well for April 6

oh well for April 7

oh well for April 8

oh well for April 9

0 for 5 this week.

looking at some ebay prices.

I paid 180 for this 8gb card in September. it is over 650 on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VisionTek-AMD-Radeon-RX-5500-XT-Graphic-Card-8-GB-GDDR6-1-61-GHz-901316/265105912295?

It has paid itself off 2x times

26 x 10 cents = 2.60 a day for 210 days = 546 if I held all the coin.
the power cost would be 210 x 2 = 420 kwatts or 42 at 10 cents.

So say I cost average the earnings down to 342-42 in power = 300 so the card paid me 128 profit.

and it sells for 650 on ebay. which is stupid high price.

as 546-42 = 504 earned back over next  210 days could happen.

So the card is worth about 400 which is pretty crazy.

So does any one want this card at 400? (USA only)

I mention it as I do like to feel out the more savvy  marketplace.

I have 2x 3090's and purchased warranty extensions from 3 to 5 years. cost 60 bucks 30+30

I consider it money well spent.

Those warranty extensions can smooth sail those 3090's to the next market cycle, unless something like hbm2e out perform the gddr6x's by a huge margin, but history shows top of the line cards like 3090 will hold mining value for quite a while..

Anyway ddr5 ram for servers can have up to 512gb per module(maybe desktop can have them too), if filecoin shows promise in bear market times, these ddr5 will surely outclass the ddr4' s mining right now, imagine around 4 to 8 VMs inside a rig mining filecoin hehe
