ETH mining hashrate now double what it was back in September.  Instead of buying another new overpriced GPU right now, I recommend getting a VR headset and playing NEOS VR  Tongue

Whats crazy is if you asked anyone back in September what would happen to the hashrate most people would say it would decrease by 25% due to the ETH 4GB ASICs and 4GB GPUs going offline. However the complete opposite happened. This is proof that you can't predict hashrate.

Even if a bear market started I wouldn't be surprised if the hashrate stayed the same or kept going upwards. Basically what happened in the past with BTC hashrate. It very rarely decreased even in a bear market. Same will happen with ETH hashrate in the near future.

Now the money is free, and so the people will be
theres no discrimination by age.  i think vr is awesome for senior citizens.  its mostly a social thing, heck you can play board games too.  its just not very popular yet, and most people who have VR are on the young side.  Latest game I played was an interactive puzzle story, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLEaf3YwJy8
Anyways a bit off topic sorry  Lips sealed

Does it have a senior citizen section?

Ebay won't let me sell an Asic, states it is virtual currency.

I posted in the bitcoin thread.

So My winning shuffle  asus strix 6700 xt from the 18th of march showed up today.

Can't change any setting to it on windows 10 so it is doing 153 watts and 43mh.

I will switch it to smos in a few days.

I tried asus tweak  = fuck you phil
I tried after burner = fuck you phil

Still turns profit for now.

I will post back on it later.

Did you try using crappy old AMD Wattman?  I've been striking out with the shuffle as well.

I most likely will do smos.

make a rig with

msi          6800xt
asus strix 6700xt
asus strix 5600xt

reaching the point of no gear to be had.

I think I have
60mh and 50mh coming in then zip

I would like to hit the shuffle.

no shuffle oh well

I went for all of them.

Blew the dust off my old rigs today and currently making sure everything is working on them, updating Win10, BIOS, etc.  Going to try a 3060 in there see if it works ok and go from there.

The only hard requirements are PCIe and GPU drivers. A 64 bit CPU (and OS) are only required
for new cards because Nvidia doesn't build 32 bit drivers anymore. I had Maxwell cards mining
on an old Pemtium D with 32 bit Windows, as well as a Core 2.

How many GPUs were you running on the Pentium D rig? I ask because in the past I bought one of these and wanted to use as a mining rig however I couldn't get any more than 4 GPUs to run on it. Even if the motherboard supported it.

Basically got the rig with a cheap motherboard but good CPU, replaced it with a better motherboard with more slots. However no matter what I did, I couldn't get more than 4 (or 3 don't remember exactly) to run.

After much investigation it turns out that the Pentium D or the North/South gate chipset on the motherboard just can't support too many PCIe lanes. So hence there is a limitation when it comes to mining. Sure it can mine with 1 or 2 GPUs however anymore than 3 GPUs and you run into issues.

And there is the issue with the huge power consumption of those old Pentiums. I remember from my old days of the Pentium 4 and how the fan always ran on max when you were doing light browsing. It was a huge power hog.

You pretty much nailed it on every point. My D's mobo only had 2 slots (x16+x1 ) so I didn't get the opportunity to push it.
The choice of CPU can limit the number or PCIe lanes, even now. I have an ASUS B350 that supports Ryzen and Athlon CPUs
but the specs say the third x16 slot isn't supported with an Athlon.

Funny you mention the fan noise. I used the D as an HTPC for a while but the fan spinning up and down drove me nuts.
A steady drone would have been less annoying.

yeah I did.

I don't know for sure. What is the cpu?

I know any mobos that uses celeron g3900 or newer should work.  The oldest cpus I have now are the g3900 they work with 3000

series.

I even have some mobos that use ddr3 ram with celeron g3900 they are fine. if you keep them all the same.

3060ti up to 4 tested and work
3070ti up to 3 tested and work
3080   up to 3 tested and work on the 6 slot onda clones

If I could cool them I think they would do more.

I also have a buddy with some 12 slot boards running 11x 3070's with g3900 cpu and 1600 speed ddr3 ram

at btcshiner best buy has been outstanding to buy the seasonic 850 and 1000 watt units.

Celeron G3900 is a 6 gen cpu and it goes into s1151 motherboards which are using DDR4 memory

it supports ddr3
Quote

And you can get away with plain ddr3 with no L some  ddr3 ram will work .

I have many mobos with ddr3 no L using g3900
some use sodimm only 1 stick

some use dimm 1 or 2 sticks.

on a lighter note newegg shuffle was a big fuck you.

Cards are next to impossible to get.

some signs of a peak in hashrate maybe no one even big farms are having issues with chips

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate
463,782.8908 GH/s was recorded on Saturday, March 20, 2021

we dropped down from that to 456,000+ on march 24

lastly priced dropped yesterday 1569 a coin and viabtc is down to 8.56 cents

also btc dropped to 50K
