Due to bitcoin recent rise, many gamers are out in full force complaining once again against miners. Saying they are buying out all the GPUs during a pandemic where people are forced to stay at home and saying that there are no good GPUs for sale unless its some 5 year old Radeon R9 280X or older GPUs.

I actually remember a few years back in 2017 when I was at the computer store. Some guy was complaining and swearing at miners saying they are distrupting the computer games business and computer stores should limit the stock to 1 per customer, which they were already doing.

So I guess, if you got any 4GB GPUs now seems to be the perfect time to Craiglist them.

Any clue how many RTX 3080s I can realistically run on a EVGA 1300W or 1600W PSU? I think I will be able to source a few and would be interested how many I can run on a board. Right now I am running 8x Polaris cards, but because of power considerations 8x 3080s will probably not work. I assume I can run like 5?

My three card 3080 pulls 770 watts counting everthing at the kwatt meter

I have a 1200 plat psu.

I am pretty sure I can do a fourth on the psu.

so I would guess 4 for the 1300watter
and I would guess 5 for the 1600 watter.

Phil,

I'm still a newbie.  So viabtc > auto widthdrawall to say coinbase, then convert to btc, then to your personal wallet?

close.

Lets say I get 1  eth. takes me what ever.  It goes direct to Coinbase.

say it was 1 eth = 1200 usd.  sell 1/2 for cash. convert 1/2 to btc.

say 600usd  + 600usd worth of btc.

withdraw 400 usd to bank for bills.

hodl the 600usd in btc at coinbase.  if there is a strong rise in btc price sell a bit of it.

So I almost never have eth on hand. Other then when it builds up at viabtc.

There is a  quasi short hodl of eth as it takes a while to earn the 1 eth.

Phil,

Are you holding your ETH or converting it right away to BTC?

Fuck eth I have 2 eth coins locked away in an old wallet that have been stuck since 2016.  I have spent years trying to jailbreak them so I just sell the sell some cash and convert some to btc.

The eth I earn pays bills.

I hodl Doge now down to 750000 of them

I hodl BTC .

45 seems about right since a 5600xt has a 192 mem bus and does 40ish.

Looks like tariffs have now hit gpu prices. Zotac, Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI all raised prices $30-$150 from what I can see. Not sure on EVGA. Hoping they assemble either in the US or Taiwan and don't have to raise prices.  Should be in line for a xc3 gaming 3080 from their que soon.

I picked up a Gigabyte Vision 3080 at a Microcenter while visiting family. Gonna be adding it on Wed. I really don't want to void the warranty and replace the thermal pads.

It does match the rig I am putting it in.  Moving a 5700xt and a 5700 out to an open air rig.  I think I could add 2 fans on the bottom that I removed when I added the 5700.  Hoping I don't lose to much in throttling.

If I can grab a 3060ti or 3070 I have a rig with a 1660 ti and a 1060 6gb that I will sell to offset some of the upgrade cost.

I saw some news about TSMC ending discounts to largest customers and raising some prices due to offer-demand and their production is at 100%, add this to the world situation of Covid, shippings are more expensive, people are buying a lot of hardware to work from home, mining is hot again and soon we'll see higher prices on almost every piece of hardware

Asus already said here about the increase of MSRP: https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-officially-increases-graphics-cards-and-motherboards-pricing

So, it's better to buy right now because it looks like this year will be very expensive to buy hardware and gadgets

Nvidia will launch 3060 6gb - 12gb, and 3080 super - ti, imagine the price os these cards  Angry

I think I read that the 3060 12gb will start at $449.  Supposed to be faster for gaming but with a smaller 192 mem bus than the  3060 ti.

I wonder how it will hash? 45mh? 50mh?

All I could find today for cards is this one.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-GeForce-GTX-1660-SUPER-Overclocked-6GB-Phoenix-Fan-Edition-HDMI-DP-DVI-Grap/383275252137?

It is low power and will do around 20mh at 75 watts.  New full warranty.

A good squeeze it in card.

Also. you can run 6 of them on the Onda d1800 six slot board.

It will sell out.

Do I think a 6 x 244 = 1500 + with tax and 200 for the board and psu  1700 for

120mh

at 8 cents an mh = 8 bucks a day after power = 7.50 a day

1700/7.50= 227 days to pay out.

At $219 from NewEgg, is the Onda worth it?

no I am ordering direct from alibaba. 9 for 630

if the order works out I will sell a few here.

It is a solid board you can run 3 x 3080 on it using this psu.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/seasonic-focus-gx-1000-1000w-80-gold-psu-full-modular-fan-control-in-fanless-silent-cooling-mode-10-yr-warranty-black/6414258.p?skuId=6414258

and this stick of ram

https://www.ebay.com/itm/4GB-PC3L-12800s-DDR3-1600MHz-1Rx8-Non-ECC-Elpida-EBJ40UG8EFU0-GN-F/373419759955?

with this usb stick

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Bar-Plus-USB-32GB-64GB-128GB-256GB-USB-3-1-Flash-Drive-Silver-Wholesale/174221725390?

btw even usb sticks are getting costly.

All of my rigs running Nicehash  show offline in the dashboard for each PC and the online web monitor shows nothing connected, yet the miners see to be connected an running, anyone else running Nicehash?

Started at 11:14 Eastern time

Says "not connected to NHWMS, Check your internet connection".

Same problem here, just posting to you guys know you're not alone

Everything was working fine, but then when I checked my rigs on browser, all rigs are disconnected, I opened rigs and the miner was working
Restarted rigs but didn't work

I waited a few hours and now it's working 100% again, showing all stats correctly, and my payments are not affected

I suspect of high demand on Nicehash side

Nicehash confirmed on Reddit that they had a server outage.  Now I have to restart everything.

i'm kind of torn between two worlds. On one hand i like the mining profits, but on the other hand, my defi investments are "stuck". While i don't need to access them at this moment, i can't add to it.

Is anyone else worried about eip-1559 coming soonish? I have a feeling the recent spike in gas fees is going to be the straw that finally breaks the camels back, and eip-1559 is going to be fast tracked

Yes the gas fees are very annoying however they are temporary pretty much. Lately the fees were high around 500 Gwei but it was because ETH had a +25% day and then it broke $1000 and then it kept going higher and higher till $1200 or so. Hence why the fees were high.

However unless you need to make a transaction fast you can just use a 50 Gwei and it will confirm within a few hours. Don't use anything less than 25 Gwei because it will take up to a week or a month. If you are doing a simple ETH send transaction then gas limit being 21000 it will only cost you 0.001 ETH, which is around $1 currently. Not the lowest but nowhere near $50 a transaction like in the past.

Yeah eth needs to change. I add liquidity on pancakeswap as well and transactions are completed within seconds and only cost $0.1. cant wait for eth 2.0
