WE NEED AN ACCOUNT FREEZE CODE CAPABILITY A USER CAN LOAD INTO THE BLOCKCHAIN AS A PAID MESSAGE THAT ALL NODES WILL RECOGNIZE AND REJECT ALL TRANSACTIONS OUT OF THIS ACCOUNT UNTIL A USER REVERSES IT AND TURNS IT OFF WITH A SECOND PASSWORD.

Is there chart or something where I can see how the nxt distribution evolved during the last weeks?

I did some math, but not much:

http://nxtcoin.blogspot.cz/2014/01/nxt-volume-history.html

Quote
289 million Nxt is owned by: 7 accounts
215 million Nxt is owned by: 14 accounts
248 million Nxt is owned by: 55 accounts
200 million Nxt is owned by: 14.000 accounts
Lost: NXT 15.000.000 (+-)

Nxt
28.9% is owned by 0.07%
21.5% is owned by  0.14%  : 2x
24.8% is owned by  0.55%  : 7.9x
20.7% is owned by  99.76% : 1425x
vs:
Bitcoin
28.9%: 0.005%
21.5%: 0.087%  : 17.4x
24.8%: 0.98%    : 196x

20.7%: 98.928% : 19786x

And now to the transfers:
If I don't count Genesis transfers, in 52 days were transferred: 2.25  Billion NXT

http://nxtcoin.blogspot.cz/2014/01/where-is-nxt-from-original-stakeholders.html

42 richest original stakeholders and their money:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=13

salsacz, very interesting data - good work. We should keep track of this datasheet.

I was looking for statistics that show how distribution evolved over time! I know it decreased since IOU and that distribution is better than with btc...

Does something like this exist? Something like by how much the share of founders (or the richest 0.5%) changes every week.

you can add a new column to the googledoc (there is editabe copy now) and update it there

in my eyes this doesn't add any security level. if your account pw got stolen, the second pw would also have been stolen.
there's no defence against keyloggers. this applies to regular banking more or less also.
it's also not unsafer than bitcoin, because your wallet.dat can be stolen equally.

No.  I envision the client displaying the unfreeze code visually and you copying it down old school paper and pencil to defeat keyloggers.  At least this would be one option for the paranoid, like me.

It looks like coinmarketcap.com still only pulls volume data from DGEX.  Do they plan to add nxtchg.com and bter.com?

HONG KONG CONFERENCE IN JUNE SHOULD BE HIGH PRIORITY....HONG KONG IS THE GATEWAY TO CHINA.
detailed date ?

Hong Kong is Inside the Bitcoins series, if I remember well:

I am not sure if I should post to both of our threads (this + marketing), but what the hell, new list of conferences:

Conferences: Miami (January 25), London (21 January), Berlin (February 12/13), Texas (March 6), Amsterdam (March, May), New York (April 7/8), Canada (April 11/13), Washington (June 20/22), Hong Kong (June 24/25), Melbourne (July 10/11), London (September 10), Las Vegas (October 6/7)

edit: all conferences, articles and videos are in the OP of marketing thread. There is also a new conf in:
Shanghai (September)
well,salsacz , got it,thank you

Quick update on the Amsterdam 18-20th March conference:
http://www.bitcoinference.com/

I've had a chat with the guys at the venue, they have absolutely no confirmed booking for the conference yet.
Apparently it was originally scheduled for November 2013, but the booking was cancelled.

I sent a couple of mails to the addresses on the Bitcoinference website, but so far there is no reply at all.
So I just fired up my Google-fu skills and I think I've found the conference organiser, but he (and his organisation) seem to mostly be available via F*c*book, so I gave up on that approach.

I don't think the conference is a scam, but I do think that it is probably not going to happen or not be a very large scale event.
If i've heard nothing useful by the end of this week, I'm going to conclude that its not going to happen.

But, do not despair, fair Nxt'ers, because there is still a conference in May:
https://bitcoinfoundation.org/forum/index.php?/topic/652-bitcoin2014-l-may-15-17-l-amsterdam/

Of course, by then we may all be sitting in the Maldives, drinking beer served to us by supermodels.

I'm not the least bit surprised at this.
The worst part of it, is that they are still updating the site and are selling tickets.
So I would definitely call it a scam, because there is no way they will ever be able to book Science Park just a few months in advance.

Pity. Hopefully the bitcoinfoundation conference will turn out to be legit.

Having acquired over 10,000 Nxt now, I am willing to do a video conference from the Maledives, too, though.

Well, I faced a moral dilemma and would like to ask for an advice...

FrictionlessCoin created a thread dedicated to NEX (descendant of NXT). I had a lot of fun reading that thread but I suspect some people took NEX seriously. The problem is that if FC waits till April when Nxt source code becomes completely open, he still won't be able to generate a valid genesis block, coz Nxt uses a crypto algo modified by BCNext (this is why we collected 10 BTC for the audit). I support all cryptocurrencies and would like to help him to create a new genesis block, competition is good for the whole crypto-community. But this could look not very good to guys who own NXTs...

What would u do?

Can't you let him make a clone on top of the nxt blockchain ?

It would be moral. FC does only non-moral things..

Has anyone experienced at least one error with 0.5.9? I mean, a real exception stack trace in the log, other than due to corrupted .nxt files on startup? I haven't even seen a single blockchain rescan in the last two days, only the occasional "generated incorrect block" message, so I don't know whether rescans still cause exceptions, or rescans don't happen anymore, or complete without errors?
No rescans, no errors. Some "generated incorrect block".

It is getting boring, no bugs to fix... need to focus on the refactoring. And no, no new feature requests until I am done with it.

Running nodes is also getting boring. MY VPS is still on 5.7 and it's been up and rolling with no problems for the last 110 hours.
Known peers total is 1451.

Just upgraded my home node to 5.9 and that was very bloody easy, too. Only bug/problem I've seen is that NRS 5.9 still reports that :
" NRS 0.5.8 started successfully "

All I can say is: good job, J-L, keep it up.
Yes! They are running like butter. Smiley

Actually, it was a bot, but some more advanced one. It did 750 requests in 20 seconds to different URLs.

As far as I can tell, it didn't break anything, so thank you to whoever did it anyway, more tests is good.
