No. Arbitrary Messages will be added very soon. U will be able to send anything u wish - any format, encrypted, whatever.

Actually I don't think so. This is a feature of the Bitcoin-qt client that has always interested me to some degree. A few people have the ability to broadcast a message that will appear on all Bitcoin-qt clients which has proven useful but its a centralized credibility problem.

If nodes could see a message and decide whether or not to pass it along to all other nodes, this might be useful. Kind of like a voting system similar to reddit but weighted by how much NXT someone has in their address. So for example, two nodes, one with 50 NXT and one with 500 NXT both see a message being broadcast on the network. The node with 50 NXT thinks it's stupid and rates the message poorly but the node with 500 NXT thinks it's good and rates it positively. The message would be deemed mostly credible because 10X more votes went to ward propagating the message across the network.

You could have a panel with "important news" in it that NXT holders vote on at their leisure. If a majorly important event is going on that other NXT users should know about, it's in every NXT holder's vested interest to make other NXT users aware of the news by rating it highly and rating unimportant news poorly.

They have such things figured out. They have broadcasts, channels, subscriptions, pseudomailing lists etc. Very nice and convenient. You can "broadcasts" a message anyone who is subscribed will get it. So it is not spamming. All of us who would like to receive the update on the status of the network or update about new client version can be subscribed to that broadcasts.

yeah, its the same as when people put buy or sell walls on bitcoin exchanges, instead of directly dumping into buys.

wall = set a price to sell at (selling 1k btc at 1000), is a wall at 1000
market order = sell to whoever is buying, dumping the coin into people who have buy orders up, thus eliminating the buy order and driving the price down for bids. Is the same for buys as well.

Open the Market Levels at dgex and see at which prices NXT would be selling if someone decided they wanted a couple of million NXT and you will get the point.
