We need to fix the image problem that people like yuriygeorge is spreading. It appeals to the masses envy of rich people who they think don't deserve to be rich.

My confusion is why the founds or at least the counter to the 71 greedy bastards rhetoric is that they took a chance and deserve to be rich. Excuse me? We can do much better than that.

What I don't hear anybody repeating is that BCnext essentially gifted millions of dollars worth of software to the founders. The founders did win the lottery, but really several million dollars shared by 71 people is not that big of a lottery win.

Why don't we turn it around and point out it is not the founders greed, but rather BCnext's generosity that is central to the origins of NXT. While I am sure the NXT dev team are all founders, I know for a fact there are many that just took a 1 BTC chance on an interesting sounding idea. I sure wish I had found the original BCnext thread as I would have tossed in a BTC on the off chance that it was real.

So all the talk about 60000000% gain is ridiculous. If someone gives you a million dollars for $20,000 are you greedy if you don't sell it for $50,000? Of course not, you just won the lottery. Now some founders cashed out really early and my guess is that a lot of others cashed out when NXT hit 10 cents.

That's quite a run, not from zero, but from several million dollars. We REALLY need to change our response to include this interpretation. Even assuming the original release was worth only a million dollars, it has gone up less than 100 times. That is still quite a bit, but we have to remember that this was split in two distinct phases. The first was as people realized NXT actually worked, ok, buggy but functional and debuggable. This take care of the first factor of ten. The next factor of ten is mostly from the alias function. This gives NXT namecoin functionality doesn't it? Doesn't it make sense that if NXT has namecoin functionality AND an extensible future, it should trade at a premium to namecoin?

How can we update the wiki, videos etc. to reflect BCnext generosity as the main theme of the genesis? Won't that play much better than what we currently say.

James

P.S. Yuri,if you are up for it, I will be happy to debate you point by point.

. So stop bitching and be thankful to be apart of this project.
These future  Sergey and Larry will make you very rich even though you don't know who they are.

This is my attitude and belief.  I play poker.  After a lot of research, I went all-in on NXT on Dec 19 for a 4M+ stake.  (Yes, it's money I can afford to lose, but it would certainly be a non-trivial loss).  I'm sitting on it until I see geosynchronous satellites out the window on the way to the moon.  Start the countdown.

OK, inquiring minds want to know (for those of you outside the US, that is the motto or slogan for a very trashy gossip newspaper here called the National Enquirer) just who has cashed in on their NXT windfall over the past 30 days.  And so here's the top 50, who account for about 90% of the 200M NXT distributed to the masses so far:

Thanks Ricky for the information. I just want to say that it is very difficult to sit still on 1 cool million unless you are deeply committed and involved in this venture. That's just human nature. At this point you would have more than 1 million dollar if you have 20 million Nxt. And you would have more than 1 million if you have 15 million Nxt a few days ago. I strongly suspect that all accounts with more than 15 million Nxt  have a very strong reason to keep them. Remember BCnext has a team. I cannot imagine all of them did not send their 1 BTC to the project. We are all working for future Sergey and Larry. So stop bitching and be thankful to be apart of this project.
These future  Sergey and Larry will make you very rich even though you don't know who they are.
Stop dreaming about redistribution. There will be none, at least not until 1Nxt= 1$.

I just want to add that many of you don't even know how much work have been done in the background of this project. It is very funny if you think you are entitled to something.

The source is here, I only remember that in first days, there were more than 50 millions sold, in the forums, for a bargain prices Cheesy

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4107001

+ Bitcoin data come from the web

I think you need to do more research and make sure this is right before you distribute your video.  Give me a few minutes to research something and I will get back to you.

I am very surprised.  I have just run a rough "audit" of the first month of dgex.com based on the (433 pages!!!) data at http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=100 .  I think the data pretty conclusively shows that right at 228,000,000 million NXT coins have been deposited by around 810 deposits there since the exchange opened on November 28.  Since roughly 28,000,000 are still on deposit at the site, the rest or 200,000,000 million have indeed been withdrawn by around 3500 withdrawals.   If 50 million were indeed sold here in the forums outside of dgex.com, then it is a fact that within the past 30 days at least 25% of all NXT in existence has been exchanged to a new owner.   This is a nearly amazing number to me and something to throw in the face of anybody that calls NXT a scam.

Let me crunch the spreadsheet numbers some more and I will post some more interesting facts.

In the meantime, salsacz, not only have you made an excellent video, it is going to spread some very important truths and facts about NXT.   I say distribute it as widely as you can!!!

Did anyone just notice that 75,009,336 Nxt have been exchanged between DGEX account and the account 12292439833850569026  in the last month? Looks like someone just bought a load of Nxt. About $4M worth of Nxt at current price  Shocked. Maybe DGEX changed accounts?  Tongue

DGEX account just went from 28M Nxt down to 6M Nxt.

Account that just loaded up on Nxt http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=12292439833850569026&offset=1

DGEX Account http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=6635869272840226493

The 12292439833850569026 guy must be really believes in Nxt bright future. How naive some people must be to believe there could be "more fair" distibutuion. Eventually they would sell all their coins to a guy like that. Stop bitching around a buy some coins before they hit $1 )

Might be stupid...but what does cumulative represent?

multiply it by 100 and it is the cumulative percentage of the total Dgex deposits over the past 30 days to that point in the table.

There is no stupid.

Multiply "cumulative" by 100 to get percent of total Dgex deposits over the past 30 days to that line of the table.   The top guy made 17% of the total Dgex deposits, the top two made 31%, etc.

For the record, I previously posted genesis block data here:

Distribution of NXT among the original 71 vs the rest of us, and the effects this will have on forging revenues for the "little guys" is one of the main points that NXT critics can use against NXT, and I kind of see their point.

If enough people see NXT as a scam coin used by an elite inner circle to get rich, that could play hard against NXT, no matter how good it is or how pure the motives of the initial stakeholders are.

The only solution: give all of the NXT to me, I'll take good care of it..... Roll Eyes

But seriously: I propose some sort of massive giveaway to coincide with the Jan 3 launch.
From what I can see on the blockchain explorer there are only 5000 or so active accounts (seems low, tbh).
Give every account 10,000 NXT, that'll cost 50 million NXT, 5% of the total, and will generate the most publicity ever for a crypto launch.

(imagine the headlines: Crypto-anarchists give away millions! )
And imagine the tsunami rush of new users hoping to get a piece of the action.......ready to buy in hard. Everyone will go to the moon......

i hugely second this idea. but i have to say if there was a large stakeholder who was interested in doing this he would definitely have to keep it quiet and it would definitely have to take everyone totally by surprise. either way if we want this thing to succeed the large stakeholders will HAVE to find ways to get rid of large portions of their stash soon. it must be done and it CANT be put off. I just hope that they understand that giving away huge portions of their stake is more likely to make them wealthy in the future than hording it. everyone has to do anything they can to make sure that the large stake holders understand this.

I have a larger stake, and I agree with your point. I've been consistently selling on the dgex exchange since the beginning, and I've sold about 8 million NXT so far. I'll continue to sell on dgex, and if other exchanges open I'll sell there also. I've started to sell on ripple too. I'll keep selling at a consistent rate until at least 60-70% of my stake is gone.

Hoarding makes no sense. Obviously some big stake holders would prefer others to sell down first, so they can wait and see if they become a billionaire, but for me it's best to hedge my bets and cash out in a steady stream just in case NXT fails. I think I understand the economics of NXT pretty well, and I know my good fortune will not last long if I don't do my bit to spread the NXT around. I would say by now most of the large stake holders can see the obvious thing to do is sell at a consistent rate, leaving yourself a good sized holding (my goal is 0.25% - 1% of the NXT supply once everything settles down). I started with over 4.5%, so I think my plan is balanced, and realistic.

As for the fairness of the initial distribution, I can see why people might have a problem with that. I feel very very fortunate to have done so well out of NXT, but it wasn't luck. I took a huge risk that a complete stranger would not take my bitcoin and disappear, and my risk paid off - but it was a huge risk, with a relatively small amount.

A stranger stands up in a public place and starts speaking - he's very odd and has a 'big idea' - do you give him $130 and watch him walk out the door? He's already told you he's using a false name and will keep his identity secret. That's essentially what the initial investors did.

Why did I do it? Because I'd been trawling over crypto related forums for over a year looking for the cool stuff. Everything looked like a crazy copy-cat coin based on scams and greed, and there didn't seem to be any skill or vision in 90% of the non-bitcoin coins that were being released. The only interesting crypto/math currency systems I could see were Mastercoin, Ripple, eMunie and NXT. I've taken a position in all of those coins.

IMO all the other crypto coins live or die based on the hype around bitcoin. Obviously Mastercoin needs bitcoin to survive, but Ripple & eMunie & NXT can thrive even if bitcoin tanks. I do think Sunny King has contributed a lot of good stuff also. All the rest are clones, even the well thought out ones (CGB, Quark, maybe a few others). I want to be an investor in something good, not a gambler, or a speculator.

BCnext has so far done everything he said he would, but when I sent off my bitcoin he was just a very odd sounding guy with a small number of forum posts, and  a vague description of a POS coin. My good fortune was 1 bitcoin was only worth $130 the day I sent it in, so it was within my comfort zone. If it was today I would not send 1 bitcoin ($750 USD) to an odd sounding stranger.

I think c-f-b might be Yoda.

We need NXT economy - stores, services etc

Do you understand the kind of economic activity the Decentralized Asset Exchange / Colored Coins will generate?Huh think of gbsex and bitfunder and all other centralized asset exchanges shutting down...this is why the launching of nxt with these features is bound to draw in the entities that were disbanded from the previously stated activities and sky rocket nxt price...all these complainers do not have the foresight to understand what right in front of them...these nxt prices are still dirt cheap relatively, regardless of the appreciation in the last couple of weeks. some are about to miss the proverbial train yet again.

Sorry...got interrupted by a memory leaky crash followed by real life issues...but I'm back on.

Obviously, I'd be well happy to get more NXT, but I'm not being purely selfish here.

I'd happily give away 5% of my NXT holdings (thats about 250NXT right now) to assure an insane publicity circus around the NXT launch.

Because I know that my NXT are only worth what people are willing to pay.....no buyers, no ride to the moon. Boo hoo....

Investing is sometimes like fishing, u have to scatter some bait out and then watch the fish come 2 u.

And my block check is:
