The Alias is associated with Nxt account, so can Nxt account associate many alias names?

All sounds really exciting....and I cant wait to try it out and see the source code.

I think the only problem with this coin at the moment is hoarding.I hope the situation will change once the source is released.
Otherwise someone else is gonna come up with similar ideas for a coin like 'pxt' which is distributed easily among more people
and at the end of the day for the common user, it doesnt matter if its nxt or pxt, as long as they can get hold of it easily and cheap.

- not really, BCnext described this ages ago: messaging, aliases.

as well as a lot of other features.

This would be AWESOME.

Aye. The only obstacle on a way to the bright future is lack of alt-clients that support these features.

I agree with the above....the more demand for an alias the more its value will increase so a decentralized market work very easily.

It would give another a reason for companies and individuals to use Nxt as a marketing tool thereby increasing real world usage.

If someone blocks a companies name then they would no recourse.

I agree as well. Nothing stops us from adding a special type of a transaction that transfers ownership of an alias to other account. And this can be done via Decentralized Auction embedded into Nxt (oops, future plans leaked Smiley).

This would be AWESOME.

Guys, r u ready for the squatting? Once Alias System is activated u'll get opportunity to squat on nice aliases like "nxt", "sex" and "batman"... Alias System is the future of Internet, one short word acquired today for 1 NXT will be worth billions of dollars in 5 years. Wink
[/quotehey buddy im not too clued up on this alias thing can you explain what it is and its purpose?

This is a decentralized incarnation of aliases on Macs, links on Unix and shortcuts on Windows. It's an extended version though, for example, u can link "timmyd" to "tel:12478713425" and anyone who clicks timmyd link will be able to call u even if u change ur phone numbers very often.

I thought BC meant block chains.
I still dont get it though how to store messages in BCs?

So are there plans to have micro NXTs as well?

I see no problems to store messages in the blockchain. Currently we have 16 GiB per year limit. It will be very expensive to spam blockchain.

One more query.

You said, you could send anything, including messages.
Where would this messages be stored?
If its distributed, how long would it be stored for?
Would it slow down the transactions, if the network gets bloated with huge messages.

Thanks for the answers.

Messages will be stored in the blockchain. Unlike aliases they will be shrunk during annual shrinking.

Later an anti-spam feature will be added. It will be based on destruction of coins (but we have to add satoshis for that).

You mean BCs

Would this be a limitation for the machines running as miners/forgers as they need to have huge disk spaces for storing all these data for validating the BC.

BC is a potential name for a divisible NXT.....like Satoshis are for Bitcoin

Don't forget that blocks r limited to 32 KiB. If people want faster confirmations they have to pay higher fees...

NXT is the future
There seems to be a problem with software not running over https port 7875. Upon trying to login it just won't load, although when i try to login on the non secure port 7874 it works fine. There are no errors in console.

I've now tryed it on my local machine and I'm having the same problem, can't login with on 7875 but 7874 works fine.

dont use localhost but use

https://127.0.0.1:7875

How does it allocate the alias names?
First come first serve or some algorithm based?

1st confirmed - 1st served.
