.....
For me, I'm going to stick with my Nxt and ride this one out.

I agree. I wasn't happy when I read someone wants to put it on Coinmarketcap, and even less happy when succeeded.
Nxt is not ready for the spotlight, in more than one way. When I bought in, my intention was to look it up a few months from now. It was a good idea, because it will be a much better and clearer situation by then, but I just can't stay away.

I think we can sum it all simply.

If you are new to NXT and looking to mine coins, this is not the coin for you (there is NO mining). You must buy in period. Whether buying in requires capital or sweat equity, you will still be buying in. In addition, if you are looking to flip your coins quickly (which is certainly possible), probably not the coin for you. There are much better opportunities in the ALT Coin market.

The question is not how much will my XXXX Nxt coins generate in transaction fees today, but what will my Nxt be worth in 2 years. And, if you are not OK with the answer being 0, not the coin for you.

If, however, you are an investor and are interested in investing in something that could potentially be worth a lot more down the road, then, this may be the coin for you. But this requires time and patience.

The coin is in it's infancy and I could only imagine the havoc this forum would be experiencing if there were and additional 10,000 accounts at this stage. The confusion and disruption would be impossible to address.

We are getting too zealous about promoting something that is in it's infancy (me included). When in fact, by promoting this coin at this point without a finalized client and other features, we are perhaps slowing it's development. If you promote the coin, make sure people understand this is a long term investment, they will have to buy in and the client is not finalized.

With all that said, I believe the train has already left and has picked up too much steam to slow down now, so this is going to be one heck of a ride.

For me, I'm going to stick with my Nxt and ride this one out.

Ah the old "Gotta spend money to make money" argument. Works real nice when you're on the side with money. Why do you think we make so many alt coins? Because start up costs for larger coins is prohibitively expensive. What NXT has done is effectively mined the ENTIRETY of bitcoin. It's as if the founders were the only ones mining for the whole cycle. Is it fair for us to be buying in to that?

The beauty of the whole system is that it's fair. No matter how much money you put in, everyone will get the same return in proportion. You can't ask to make the same money for $10 as someone who invested $1000 the same time.
Now, when did you invest, that's an other story. Smiley
I myself found nxt about a week ago, and bought some. I wasn't happy I didn't found it before the genesis block, but I'm happy today that I found it last week. Someone will probably think the same thing a week from now. This can't be helped.

I made a thread over on Reddit, and will be giving people that post their Nxt address some Nxt to get them started, and hopefully get more people interested. I'll be contributing my own funds, but if anyone would like to help, I'll give Nxt to more posters, and in greater quantities. If you'd like to contribute, send a few Nxt to: 14326306018463877888.

What I love about NXT is the concept that you don't have to worry about keeping and backing up a wallet file, and can access your funds from anywhere with internet access, by going to any node that runs a public server. I think this concept is going to fly, maybe not right away, but users like convenience, backing up wallets is cumbersome even to most geeky of them. So NXT will be popular at least with the most lazy of crypto users who don't want to do all the work with software and handling wallets.

What is important is to explain to them that they need to choose a really really strong pass phrase. They can neglect that aspect and develop distrust if their accounts are hacked due to weak pass phrase. So one of the promotion points should be about educating users on the importance of strong hard to brute-force pass phrases.

But u should continue to support the networking by hosting a node for that.
Will do.

What return did you expect with 2200 NXT?
I didn't know, that's why I asked.

As someone who bought GPUs, and ASICs for a lot of money, I find NXT more than fair.
I'm not complaining about it. I know there is a buy in to crypto currency. I've invested in GPUs as well as personal servers and AWS time towards alt coins. I'm going to continue to contribute to NXT when I can.

1000 coins is too small of an amount to be useful for mining
What amount would be useful for forging? I used my meager BTC stash to purchase 2200 NXT through DGEX with the hopes it would be enough to generate a return. I've tried to be as useful as a newcomer can to the project with feedback and running a dedicated server. I'm going to keep the server running and up to date, but am I wasting my time?

What return did you expect with 2200 NXT? You get what you put in. If you started CPU mining Bitcoin today you would get Bitcoin. Just not much... If you wanted more, you'd get GPU for a few hundred dollars. That would make more bitcoin. If not enough, you could spend a few thousand for ASIC, and get more.
The same is true here, but instead of hardware you have to get NXT.

No. In 5 years u'll sell these coins and will buy yacht + house + car + small island*. But u should continue to support the networking by hosting a node for that.

It's possible I'm overlooking something obvious, if so, please tell me.

Most of NXT were given to sock puppet accounts controlled by a few people. There is a whole market of BTT accounts. If we follow ur idea we will just give most of coins to 0.001% of all Nxters.

I doubt there is a way to counteract Sybil attack giving coins for free.

Now I understand. Thanks.

I have an idea,

Can dev's make some changes for users to generate block with their account age too?

I know POS is working based on coin ages/amount, but we can introduce new system for zero-coin users' to generate blocks without any money. This can be just for some months or first year. Or It's probablity can decreased with each block generation.

So after some month's network will be working based on only POS. (because probablity of account age involvment in block generation decrease in each block)

So user's can come and open their account for block generation, also they can buy/get more coins to increase their probablity.

What do u think guys?

Frankly yes. You will generate a block maybe once every 3 months, and as of now, only 20% of blocks actually have any fees in them.
Bummer. I appreciate your honesty, though. Despite that, I think this is a cool project and will continue to support with BTC (when I can) and network.
