One more pitch for diaspora*, along with obligatory screenies and dimension properties.
We could use
diaspora* as an announcement board. I've already started #nxt for this, and posted sporadically this past week. Here's how it looks like:
Each post can contain links to longer discussions elsewhere. Posts can also be tagged with #hastags, which then allow you to filter. e.g. if you just want to focus on marketing announcements, instead of looking through all of #nxt, you could go to #nxtmarketing instead:
This way, you don't have to skim through every forum post. And you don't have to keep going to different threads and forums to keep track of everything, you can do it all from one place.
You can also alert specific people by using @. e.g. if klee joins diaspora using the same name, anytime we need more nxt, instead of having to pm, we can just type @klee in a post
Anyone can make a post, there are no mods or admins or special/restricted privileges. Damelon, you won't have to constantly be the one guy trying to keep up with and summarize everything. If we use it for just announcements, we can keep it clean and tidy, so we won't have to keep repeating announcements like we do here.
diaspora isn't good for images though, apenzl's newsletter is much more suitable for that. Client devs, you can still use it to keep everyone updated about your clients, say on #nxtclients, if you omit screenshots/keep them small.
Why not give this a try? You can sign up quickly through
my link, or go to the
diaspora foundation homepage to learn more about it first (and also get more options). Remember to follow #nxt.
