I am very interested in joining the snapshots before they end. I wanted to also ask, is it a good idea to purchase some form Bittrex also and place in the wallet? Will I receive more Byteballs if I hold some in my wallet also or I must just have Bitcoin? Also do I need to have the wallet open to receive the coins or it does not matter? Thank you in advance for your answers.

My only concern with Byteball is what happens after the last distribution round? I think the frequent high airdrops are the main incentive to hold this coin and have encouraged a lot of Whales to hold in the interim.  It seems a massive selloff after the last round is unavoidable and I wonder where the project/price will go from there.

how do you do cold storage for byteball?

i suppose i could just run the byteball software on an air-gapped offline machine to generate keys?

Yes, that's  the easiest solution so far if you don't want your gbytes to touch the internet
Paper wallet is coming soon tho

I've noticed that many more BTCs have been linked for this round and that the adoption rate is therefore happily growing. Let's hope that the newcomers learn from the past price action and don't dump their free Bytes. Anyone who did dump in the past has good reasons to regret now.

Your community members are doing a good job spreading the word.  Wink I think I'll HODL for a bit. Although I am sure the 59 MB that I'll be getting really wouldn't effect the market much. Maybe I'll buy some GB two weeks after the airdrop.

two questions

1. do I have to link my btc address before the snapshot?
2. can I link multiple btc addresses or do I have to consolidate in one address?

1.  You can link anytime you want, but if you want to be a part of the distribution, you have to link prior to it happening.  Byteball isn't able to know that you 'intend' to link in the future.  Tongue

2. Yes, you can link as many BTC addresses as you want.
So, you can link 10 BTC addys to a Byteball account, or 10 BTC addys to 10 diff byteball addys.

What you can't do it linke 1 BTC address to 2 byteball addresses without an issue.

Are there concerns btw that is coin is used for illigal purposes? I don't want that
I think Michail1 is right, but in the moment this coin is not likely to be used for illegal business.
If you hear something like this, you can immediately end your engagement and dump - deal? Smiley

How is airdrop date accurate? Can I link BTCs right before 04:07 UTC? Say, 1 or 2 hours prior to it?

Yes.  Just remember that the snapshot is of confirmed balances.
So, linking is fine, but if you link an address that is getting BTC, but which isn't confirmed at the snapshot, then you get nothing.   Must be a confirmed BTC balance.

Everything is used for illegal and legal purposes.   So, something like byteball (although unlikely right now) still could be used as such.... Just like Bitcoin, Gold, and most importantly... cash.

If people can use something for 'illegal' purposes, they will.

I know the distribution is on the 9th, but when will the "screenshot" of the blockchain done for the byteball airdrop?

What's been done in the past is the first bitcoin block after the full moon UTC time.

But, there is a wait just to make sure there isn't a reorg on a bad bitcoin block / chain split issue.

Payment is typically within 24 hours; however, you can move your bitcoin when you feel like it during that time.

Actually, its the screenshot that is on the 9th. The distribution for both bytes and blackbytes may take even 48h after that to be over

UPDATE :

616169.26611946 btc linked  which will bring approx. : 38,510 gb

and we have 255,492gb in circulation which will bring : 51,098 gb more after airdrop

So

255,492+51,098+37,948= 345,100 Gb in total in circulation after give away.

Yes that's 1/3 of all gbytes.

Yes i think in this rate we will have at least 4 more airdrops

The sports oracle sounds great. I'll test it after I finished the Zork game provided by a Byteball oracle. When original Zork was released I was not already born. But I remember Sheldon played the game in a Big Bang Theory episode and I wondered what that kind of game is, and now I'm glad it was done on Byteball and I am able to play it  Grin I really love Byteball!

How do we program our own oracle using different data feeds? I'd like to see it extended into US sports (NFL / MLB / NHL / NBA).

Have a look at existing oracles:

Wait until the next distribution was conducted on 9th July. The past has shown that the price usually declines after a distribution for a while until it soars again before of the next monthly distribution. In your situation, I would use the timeframe of one or two weaks to get into Byteball cheaply. I do not recommend to buy directly before a distribution phase.

With so much GB added to market I expect price to go down slightly!

I would like to buy cheap bytes too, the problem is that some people linking their BTC finally want to buy more bytes and the price stays high.
