The 2023 World Cup is going to start in India without any kind of opening ceremony. BCCI has not commented on why the opening ceremony will not be held, but several popular media in India have confirmed that there is no opening ceremony in this World Cup. The BCCI has decided not to hold the opening ceremony considering the safety of the big religious ceremony of the Indians. The authorities completed the photo session and other work with the captains yesterday. Today only New Zealand and England are waiting to take the field. But if the 2023 World Cup had an opening ceremony then the 2023 World Cup would have been a memorable tournament for the spectators.

England is not the favorite team over New Zealand but there are doubts about the ODI World Cup matches being held this year as almost all the matches are likely to be played in DLS mode due to bad weather. A favorite team may or may not win if a match is calculated by DLS method. DLS method is usually done considering the overall situation of a match where a normal team can win by batting well in special conditions. However, in today's first match, I have put England ahead as the favorite team. If the game is delayed due to rain, it is different in that case, but if the game is not stopped due to weather, England will have more chances to win today's match.

If Southee was there, then I would have said that New Zealand has a chance. But he is out due to injury and apart from Trent Boult none of the other Kiwi bowlers are in good form. Lockie Ferguson in particular has the habit of leaking runs on flat Indian pitches (and he will be playing today). And one more disadvantage with New Zealand is that they don't have any quality spinners with them. Mitchell Santner has tons of experience and Ish Sodhi is talented. But both of them doesn't have the ability to trouble the batsmen.

Hopefully now in tomorrow game we will have good fight from the Kiwis which was clearly winner, but wrong decisions keep them waiting for their first big win in Cricket with recent fight in ODI series things are looking impressive and tomorrow match could be entertaining for cricket fans as well.

In Asia Cup they were completely outclassed by India as they give them no chance for recovery after having big target in rain hit match and against Sri Lanka this was fascinating game which won by host country narrowly at the end but now most chances we will have new level of game from them in this mega event.

Since the Pakistan team is completely unpredictable, it is difficult to predict their performance. We see a common case when playing against India, They also lose the natural cohesion that should exist within the team. It is very difficult for them to win against India at that moment. And sometimes when a performance is so good, the team has to be showered with praise. The journey to the World Cup will not be long if they can't recover the gap between their squads that appeared in the Asia Cup. The dominance of the Pakistani bowlers in the Asia Cup was shattered. It will be difficult to expect anything good from them at this point. But unpredictable as anything can happen in that case.

Some journalists give prediction that even paksitan may be Gona lose against Netherlands which I believe is meaningless statement but anyway I back Pakistan teams and believe at least they will be semifinalist or may be finalist.

One of my favorite team is Pakistan. But looking at their performances recently I don't think they will be able to qualify for the semi-finals. Their performance is poor especially the performance of the batsmen is very erratic. Most of the pitches we have seen in warm up matches are batting friendly. We will probably see a similar pitch in the World Cup. And on such a pitch it is much more difficult to win if batsman's performance is erratic. The top order must perform well if they want to win big targets. But Pakistan's top order players are not in good form. It is also unlikely that Pakistan will qualify for the semi-finals depending on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan's performance alone.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah Zurmatai both played very well and they played long and collected most of the runs in the match. These two players have a huge role to play in Afghanistan's victory. On the other hand, Kusal Mendis played the best in the entire match. He played for Sri Lanka but unfortunately he was not able to win for Sri Lanka alone. He completed 158 runs in just 87 balls. Such a wonderful performance is rarely seen. Two players played well for Afghanistan and they went on to win the match on DLS method and Afghanistan's quality of play was excellent.

In my opinion, Khusal Mendis from Sri Lanka showed a great performance and played the best innings of 158 runs off 87 balls, but even his best performance could not lead his team to victory. I found K Mendes performance to be the best among all the players. The most disappointing aspect of the Sri Lankan innings is the fall of the last six wickets for just 23 runs, because Sri Lanka innings still had 3.4 overs left. Mohammad Nabi bowled well in the last overs. However, Afghanistan position was very strong even without the DLS method and they would have easily won the match. I think the brilliant partnership of 212 runs for the second wicket by Afghanistan played a major role in Afghanistan winning the match.
