I am not sure whether they will be able to overtake South Africa in NRR. At this point, Proteas have +2.290, while India is at +1.405. Even if India win by 300+ runs, there is a chance that their NRR may stay below that of South Africa. Anyway, India will be having 7 wins from 7 matches, while South Africa lost the match against Netherlands. And next match for both the teams is going to be at Eden Gardens, where they will face each other. If anyone is going to beat India in this world cup, it is going to be South Africa. This match is going to be epic.
NRR is not a concern for India as they have won all matches so far and based on points they are at number one position. India NRR is still beyond SA despite having a massive win today.
Its second time in a month or two that SL have such a humiliating defeat against India, first one was in Asia Cup final. SL have made a history today by scoring the lowest inning total by a test playing side.
NNR may not be an issue for India to qualify for the Semi finals (as they are already qualified) but they do need a better run rate to remain at the top position, in case they lose to South Africa in their upcoming match.
Tomorrow we have a match between Afghanistan vs Netherlands, both teams have the same points, and both teams are in the race of Semi-final. If Afghanistan wins tomorrow’s match against the Netherlands with a good run rate so they can qualify for the top four, but for this Afghanistan needs to win tomorrow’s match with a good run rate, and if Afghanistan take place in the top four so this is a big thing for Afghanistan because before they never saw themselves in the top four on the point table. But the Netherlands also played very well in their previous matches but I think that the Netherlands will not be able to win tomorrow’s match due to its small team.
