The second ODI match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is being played today, with New Zealand batting in the first innings. Both teams scored fast in the last game and also it was affected by the rain. I think today we may see another high scoring match and the team who bat first would be eye a score of over 300 runs. Anything under 300 can be chased quite easily.

New Zealand lost the first match by a big margin against Sri Lanka. It is a very difficult task for any team to win against Sri Lanka on a Sri Lankan pitch. Sri Lankan players gave a huge target of 325 runs in the first match. New Zealand needed 221 runs in 27 overs to win. But New Zealand managed to collect 175 runs.

New Zealand have to focus on how to tackle the Sri Lanka bowlers as they are the real threat for them. Kamindu Mendis, Dilshan Madushanka and Maheesh Theekshana are in good form and can take the game away from New Zealand. NZ needs a win today otherwise the series is all over for them.

In this case I am not getting interest in the matches as each team is targeting around 150. Every team should have a target of 200 and their bowling is tough and the next team puts all the pressure and they win the match by playing hard, the interest in such matches is high. In this match, Hong's batsmen have set a target of 128 in 29 overs, which was very easy, but SGPJ batsmen will get the entire team out in 20 overs and can score only 89 runs. That is why there is not much interest in this league. This team had a very good chance which their batsmen missed and lost the match. If their batsmen played slowly they could have won the match by scoring 57 runs in 9 overs.
Well.. this tournament (CWC Challenge League Group B) has been so far dominated by the bowlers. But then, there were a few big scores. Italy managed to get to a total of 342/4 against Hong Kong, with Harry Manenti scoring a century and half-centuries being scored by Emilio Gay, Marcus Campopiano and Grant Stewart. Anyway, the first phase of the league is over. It will resume next year, with Group A matches schedueled for January in Jersey, and Group B scheduled for February in Hong Kong.

Let's see if the Sri Lanka team can win against New Zealand in the second ODI match. You might remember the T20 series between these two teams. Sri Lanka won the first match of the T20 series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand as well, but New Zealand won again in the second match, resulting in a drawn T20 series. Similarly, in the first match of the ODI series between these two teams, the Sri Lankan cricket team was able to defeat New Zealand. If the New Zealand team wins the second ODI match in the ODI series like the T20 series, then maybe this series will be more competitive. Because in the third match both the teams will try to give their best performance to win the series and try to win the match.
What I think is that t20 format and odi format are not the same, here the changes of players can be seen in the squad. Although I thought the New Zealand team would win both the T20 series and the ODI series. But after seeing the promising performance of the Srilankan team, I don't think so anymore.Moreover, since the matches are taking place in the Sri Lankan ground, it is natural that the pitch will largely favor the Sri Lankan team. And the pitch of this ground seems to be batting friendly. I know about CWC Challenge League Group B competition. Today matches were exciting especially Hong Kong vs Singapore game. Hong Kong hit first scoring 128 runs in 29 overs but game was cut short because of rain. Their best batsmen, Shiv Mathur and Nizakat Khan did great job scoring 37 and 40 runs each. Singapore had a tough time with wet field and could not catch up scoring only 89 runs and losing by 39 runs. Rainy conditions helped Hong Kong win. At the moment, Hong Kong is leading the points table in 2024-2026 CWC Challenge League Group B. However, in my opinion Italy is the strongest team in this group. And also, out of the 6 teams participating, only teams with native players are Italy, Tanzania and Uganda. BTW, Emilio Gay is making his debut for Italy in this series (his mother is Italian, and therefore he is qualified to play for them). So far he has made a total of 203 runs in 3 matches, at an average of 101.50. Joe Burns (former Australian test player) is also representing Italy, as his mother is of Italian origin.

At the same time several important players of Sri Lanka retired from the Sri Lankan team but then the condition of the Sri Lankan team became very bad. And it took three to four years for them to get well again. We can consider the current Sri Lankan team as a fairly strong team. They have to be commended for their performance especially after the excellent performance they showed in the ODI series against New Zealand. Maybe from now on Sri Lanka will perform well like this and keep good quality players in their pipeline so that they don't have to fall into bad situations again in the future. The better Sri Lanka performs, the more interesting the Asia Cup will be especially as the competition will be split between India Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
We have many countries which suffer problems like these as their domestic system is never been in good shape to have suitable replacements on time so here we have one understanding if you want to keep going like Australia or India you need to work on their domestic infrastructure which will help you for having better results for long time.Now after suffering badly for few years Sri Lanka is back on track as their ranking and quality both improving due to their consistency even still we need more work from them because it's never been easy to keep going on same track at home they needed to be had better results on road as well while we will be having Sri Lanka against top teams in away games then we can talk better about their future in this game, but good thing is happened now they are on good way with few skilled and talented players which are giving their best.

I totally agree with you about Sri Lanka cricket team comeback. After struggling when key players retired they have bounced back strongly. Their great performance against New Zealand shows their skill and determination. Strong Sri Lanka team makes Asia Cup more exciting especially with India and Pakistan competing. Yes ,you are right. That was high score match in which Sri Lankan International cricket team was dominant and made highest total . Rain interrupted in this match and they empires took decision and target in this match was 221 in 27 overs but New Zealand International test could make 175 runs and they lose their wickets early in the match and that was big reason of their lose in this match. Kusal Mendis was the player of this match and he deserves that and he made match one sided. Now Sri Lankan team is putting effort and we will see that team in Champions trophy and we will see good competition between teams because before 2 to 3 years after retirement of Sri Lankan legends team was very low class.

In this ODI thread, is anyone here how familiar with this competition CWC Challenge League Group B and watch any match today total thirteen matches were finished and today two matches were played first one was played among Hong Kong sqaud against Singapore squad and other one Taiwan squad against Bahrain.
I watched this match Hong Kong squad against Singapore squad, in this match, Hong Kong squad started this match first with batting and their squad managed 128 scores after Playing 29 overs and these are the one day matches sadly rain interrupted during match that's why just 29 overs were played. Just top order batters displayed their amazing skills in front of Singapore bowlers and i satisfied their performance. Shiv Mathur and Nizakat Khan both batters managed high scores in Hong Kong squad side and both collected 37 and 40 scores respectively. Singapore squad was unable to secure victory in this match and their was disadvantage for them because pitch was not good as well wet with rain. Singapore squad just achieved 89 scores and faced defeat with 57 scores.

You said good and I see How Sri Lanka team play games in this ODI series as well they played in past. This was the big runs game of Sri Lanka team played and they won game by 45 runs in DLS method. Sri Lanka team set a competitive runs target in 50 overs by losing 5 wickets and games was over when they played 49.2 overs. New Zealand team did not chase the Target of Sri Lanka team and played quite poor. Media made a brilliant century and he made 143 runs in 128 balls and hitted seventeen 4s and two 6s. Avishka also made progress for team and his effort was mind blowing with making brilliant century and he made 100 runs and hitted nine 4s and two 6s. Dilsham showed excellent struggle in bowling and he bowled 4 overs and gave 39 runs and took down 3 wickets. Congratulations Sri Lanka team to win 1 st game and hope you will make winning streak in next.
Sri Lanka won the first game but that does not mean that they will continue their winning streak in the next games too. In this match Sri Lanka got the added advantage as Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis both made the century and due to this, it was an easy win for them. However we cannot expect them again to put in a similar performance and if any one of them is out early then the Sri Lanka middle and lower batting order will be exposed and they didn't get much match practice in this match. We shall wait for the Sunday to see another match between them.
