Sri Lanka team set a competitive runs target in 50 overs by losing 5 wickets and games was over when they played 49.2 overs. New Zealand team did not chase the Target of Sri Lanka team and played quite poor. Media made a brilliant century and he made 143 runs in 128 balls and hitted seventeen 4s and two 6s. Avishka also made progress for team and his effort was mind blowing with making brilliant century and he made 100 runs and hitted nine 4s and two 6s. New Zealand would have lost with/without DLS to be honest since Sri Lanka won in the first innings itself thanks to Fernando and Mendis scoring centuries. None of their batsmen scared them.

Kiwis are all over the place these days. They lost against the Lankans in their test series and created history by defeating India on their turf and might lose the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. Crazy!

The New Zealand team was under a bit of pressure due to the rain which gave them a limited overs target and it was not easy for them to chase big runs due to the excellent batting skills of Sri Lanka. The batting prowess of Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando helped the Sri Lankan team post huge scores and were ahead of the pack in quick runs. New Zealand young Jacob Duffy tried to bowl well and took 3 wickets for 41 runs in 8.2 overs. New Zealand batting line up was weak and the middle order batsmen did not perform well. As the opening batsmen, Will Young and Tim Robinson put in good efforts but none of the latter could perform as well as their role.

In fact, New Zealand squad of new and experienced players may take some time to mature and hopefully they will be able to perform better in the next match.
