hosting device, is much more attractive, only $50 at month for 180ghs?
really good price, even with 100M difficulty, it will make roi in less than one day, or maybe i'm missing something..

Just under 20 mins till pre-order time. There seems to be alot of people on the fence about the purchase. I am going to put in an order. At the price of 1 video card (700MHash), it's not bad to get 4.5GHash. I'll just sell one of my cards and reinvest into ASIC. Would be nice to get a ROI, but even just to get into it and see what it's all about is fun. Paying a flat rate for power so anything it generates will be profit. There are many other projects out there based on the Klondike board so I am not too concerned about drivers development since others will be in the same boat.

Using this calc, an estimation of 1.8% increase per day in diff., one 4.5 board will never break even lol

1.8% daily growth is not sustainable. IMHO

People that stare themselves blind on the diff numbers forget the entire principle behind the difficulty increase in crypto currency. THE INCREASE IS NOT LINEAR OR EXPONENTIAL! Diff increases are based on available hash power.. The increase curve should follow the same pattern as when GPU took over from CPU. Sharp spike in the diff while the processing power shifts from one technology to another and then a plateau or even drop once it's adjusted.

ASIC is nothing magical, once diff increases to the point that ASIC is no longer wildly profitable it will stabilize and ASIC will still be ROI+ until next generation of ASIC or new tech hits.

I don't get this number obsession, it's pure logic at work here people.

Is my math (or something else) messed up here?

http://terrahash.com/hosting/ -> $50/month for DX Hosting.

DX w/10 blades = 128W * 10 = 1280W

Based on this electricity usage calculator...

http://www.electricity-usage.com/Electricity-Usage-Calculator.aspx?Device=TerraHash+DX+180+Ghps&Watts=1280&CostPerKWH=.05813&HoursPerDay=24

... it looks like unless I can get electricity for less than $0.05813/KWh, it is cheaper to have TerraHash host the hardware?

I pay $0.085/KWh in the midwest, so I have a hard time believing that Silicon Valley has cheaper rates, but what would I know.

In Campbell, 12 miles from TH, we've been paying an average $0.27/kWh with miners running 24/7 on a residential circuit. I don't know what they will pay in commercial rates.

The only way to make profit, is to keep making even more powerfull boards for cheaper wtb 1 t/hash for 500 bux!

Yeah, but every 2 weeks it will keep going Down, so say they deliver middle July, and its 10 dollars profit a day, and then 2 weeks later with everyone delivering soon, i am assuming it will go to 5 dollars a day, and then by mid august when most people are shipping their devices its pointless. Unless you just want to mine bitcoins for the fun of it, and hope that bitcoins goes to 1k a coin Tongue , or store it at your work and don't have to pay power costs

You are projecting difficulty to double every month and price of BTC to remain unchanged. Neither of those is likely.

Try this calculator.

Bitcoin Profit Calculator

Plug in some numbers for the 64 and the 16 boards.  Make sure you use the Expert mode to account for difficulty and deliver time. Try raising and lowering BTC price, difficulty and delivery time to get a sense of the variables involved.   A few weeks delay can have dramatic effect on your ROI.  It may make you reconsider how much you are willing to invest or risk with  TerraHash.

Cheers!

did you put a comma in? it makes commas a decimal place. so it was "4.5" MH/s. take a look at this spread sheet that i made.
