Wanted to see if anyone has a script that works with this pool in the moonlander bfgminer.

Code:
bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://tbdice.org:13333 -u LTC_Payment_Address.User_Name_I_Select -p diff_256:Doge_Address:[email protected]:type=3 -S MLD:all --set MLD:clock=796

The email address is only added for notifications if I hit a block.

Has worked for me non stop for days at a time...

Sweet. I will give it a go. Thanks. Have you had any luck?

Hey it's me again. I am trying to get this lil guy to run tbdice.org litecoin pool. Been working with the owner but we just can't get it to run stable. Runs litecoinpool for days no sweat but I get anywhere from 30 mins to a couple hours on tbdice before it stops hashing and just reports block detections from the stratum. Anyone help with the script? He thinks it's a hardware issue but I still think it's a script issue. Wanted to see if anyone has a script that works with this pool in the moonlander bfgminer.

i still got my most probably partial fried moonlander that doesnt get proper detected ..

i admit it will most probably have been my fault cause 1 cable on my usb connection got loose in the extender i used (seen that later).

is there any way to check whats broken on the device or repair it?
or is it an 1 ltc decoration element now? Smiley

would be happy to hear any ideas.

i dont blame anyone but myself!

Thanks - Astrali Smiley

It does not get detected at all? Does it show up on the USB port/COM ports?

on windows - i see no action at all.
on my raspberry pi i get this from dmesg:

Quote
Code:

this is what i get in dmesg when i attach my 4th moonlander from eyeboot.
ideas whats causing this?

lsusb won't find the device neither it will be seen by bfgminer

Green light on, fan is running!

Yea sounds like the USB input port on the chip got fried. Most likely by an ESD discharge on that extender cable. Since I have had zero reports of anyone randomly frying their sticks yet (other than the unfortunate guy that plugged them in a 12v instead of 5v power source), shoot me a PM and send it back to me...I want to dissect it in the name of science and ill repair it for you.

wow thats a very kind offer!

i'll be out from home for few days .. ill send back right after Smiley

device connected - no action at all.
no flicker, no device incoming, no device leaving on unplug.
The com1 device is not the moonlander. it stays on unplug and is mounted since 16th of december (last reboot)
https://imgur.com/a/F0hqQ
Since the device does not come up at all, my guess is that the USB to UART bridge controller (I assume U5 on the PCB, jstephanop to confirm) is dead. BTW: have you checked that core and mem voltage are ok and not 0? Check that first (see probe points on page 1). If those are ok, I bet U5 is dead. That's too bad. If you have the tools for SMD replacements it's possible to diy-replace, it must be one of the Silabs CP21XX chips, not sure which one though (can't read it so quickly), but jstephanop will know and can probably add suggestions on how to further troubleshoot).

Please confirm that you have checked device manager --> COM & LPT ports and nothing shows up there, ***AND*** under USB ports you neither have an unrecognized device.
The normal process is that windows detects that something gets connected to the USB port and either doesn't know what it is (last case) or correctly identifies it as a serial com interface and assigns it accordingly (first case).

For local wallet mining try something like this:

bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://localhost: -u -p --expiry 30 --scan-time 5 --no-longpoll --no-gbt -S MLD:all
Thanks Xantor, but I still get an error.

Solo mining is not support by bfgminer for scrypt mining. You can still do it, but you would need to setup a proxy thats connected to the coins RPC wallet, and then connect bfgminer to the stratum proxy like a normal pool.

Here is a good stratum proxy that has litecoin support. Of course its a bit involved to setup, but this is the currently only working solution to solo mine scrypt.

Thanks jstefanop! Node-stratrum looks interesting, I'll check it out.

Can "Moonlader 2" mine any other altcoins efficiently other than litecoin ? thanks
That is not much money at all however if you think in terms of coin accumulation instead of immediate gains, if that coin was to go to $0.10 from the current $0.06 then you have made a little bit of money and nearly cut your ROI in half (an easily seeable gain from 6 cents to 10 cents). Now if the coin went up a great amount (I can still remember holding BTC when it was sub $100.00) then you could have a small windfall just at $10.00 a coin. I don't think for a minute it will jump up like that but stranger things have happened.

Look up 'opportunity cost'

In cases like this it's always better to just spend the money to buy those coins instead of pay for electricity..
Same outlay, more coins.

You must not be aware of just how little electricity these things use. At a rate of $0.10 / Kwh (which is my rate where I live) - during the entire 365 days of a year the total cost of electricity for this USB stick to run is only $6.13 +/- yet could generate 1,095 coins (if all remained the same). If you bought 1,095 DGB coins right now it would be about $65.00 + fees

$65.00 compared to  $6.13  Not even close to "Same outlay, more coins"

Cost in electricity to run this stick at a liberal 7 watt/hr rating

1 day - $0.02 Generates 3 DGB
1 week - $0.12 Generates 21 DGB
1 month - $0.50 Generates 90 DGB
1 year - $6.13 Generates 1,095 DGB

Now I am fairly certain you will follow up with a reply by throwing in the cost of buying the Moonlander2, however that is not what I am addressing. I am addressing your claim on electricity only, since that is all you referred to. The OP more than likely bought the Moonlander2 as a "hobby" and without thoughts it would make him the next Warren Buffet.

Hi all,

I received my Moonlander 2 via HolyBitcoin.com this afternoon and it works great out of the box. I set up a hash-to-coins.com account as per TimBuck2's suggestion and while pool mining is a breeze with bfgminer, I get "invalid address" errors when I try to solo mine new/small scrypt altcoins like I would with cpuminer. I've searched this thread and haven't come across specifics on this - any suggestions? Or can I hash with cpuminer via my Moonlander? Thanks!

this is the issue where it says bfgminer.exe is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

As mentioned in the first 3 posts (FAQ) and several times in this thread...
your stupid windows defender or other antivirus deleted the exe file..

You can go to Hash-To-Coins mining pool where all the coins are mined using scrypt algo and mine some of the lower priced coins such as DGB which has a price of about $0.06 right now. With just one Moonlander2 running at 4.5 Mhz, basing electricity costs at $0.10 /Kwh, and 7 watts draw you can mine about 3 DGB coins a day. Every week, about 21 or so, and every month about 92 coins.

Thanks for this summary, TimBuck2. I'm getting back into crypto with a Moonlander after almost 5 years away and it's much different landscape than I remember!

Just pick your longshot altcoin from those mineable with scrypt off the page, direct you miner to get to work and give it time. What do you have to lose? The price of the electricity?

Hi guys and gals

So, my moonlander 2 has worked just fine for weeks.  After a reboot last friday, I get this image.
Sheesh, hehe tried linking to the image on my google drive
this is the issue where it says bfgminer.exe is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I saw a previous user had this problem and looked into the solutions.  Couple odd points, I tried changing the environmental variables, perhaps I am not adding the correct path(s), and when I copied the entire
folder to another HDD, it started working just fine again.
Today, after I reboot, back to same error message.  Device has worked flawlessly since I turned it on, and it is running on a usb 3.0 connection and I see it in my devices.
Happy to grab any information to help solve this and appreciate the help.

Tom
