I said "suspicions" by reading this:

Where is the evidence?
Hate campaign by several users who promote their own scam coins is hardly anything.
Better check this user's history, and you'll realise where the real scam is.
As always, with the success comes hate. Same for BTC, LTC, now DRK...

So indeed 2 million Drk were created due to a "bug". According to Drk wiki those coins were supposedly distributed , the proof being just pointing to some posts of folks selling cheap.. Wow.
Was Darkcoin Instamined?
~2mn coins were issued in the first 48 hours due to problems with the difficulty readjustment. That represents approximately 10-15% of the total money supply that will ever be issued.
The majority of these coins were distributed through the market in the following weeks and months at very low price levels* (0.0000x BTC per DRK to 0.000x BTC per DRK) and a lot of them were also absorbed in the April/May 2014 price increase.

These coins were not "created".
Coins were mined. You could have mined. I could have (I didn't).
There was an announcement, fair play.
No one shouted that loud until coin got big... of course it is easy to look back and point out fingers.
