Two things happened:

The 4:1 Leverage option was removed on MOST accounts. The second thing is, that there was a huge amount of new USD coming into the CFD part of the site. If i remember correctly there was about 13 Million USD in contracts. Now that the demand is only for 8.5 Million USD, but the supply is nearly 50% higher, thus leading to extremly low (compared to the days before) rate of returns.

Thanks ... makes sense.

Thank you! Thank you! ...
Here's to hoping the 4 to 1 leverage gets brought back soon

Here's to hoping they significantly expand the insurance fund used by liquidity providers if they decide to bring back 4 to 1 leverage.

Question for the board:

Thoughts on why 'interest rate' on USD 'loans' has collapsed over the last several days?

Have traders simply de-leveraged over the holidays, or is something else going on?

If someone from the BFX team had thoughts/insight on this, and could share, I'd be most appreciative.

Please remove your add about Bitfinex.
What you state in it is false and misleading.
And it has legal implications.
Nobody earns interests on deposits on Bitfinex.
And nobody lends.
Liquidity providers must engage in a complex derivative called contract for difference (CFD) which involves a certain degree of risk.
I understand your aim is to help, but please ask me before engaging in any sort of advertising about Bitfinex.

Thanks a lot for your understanding

The Bitfinex website uses the terms "lending", "interest" and "deposits" freely though, which seems a bit strange if there are legal implications that prevent this feature of Bitfinex from being advertised with these terms.

The term CFD only seems to appear on the stats page, everywhere else it is referred to as lending or borrowing.

working on the rewriting too...
so many things to do at the same time....
hope all will be done by year end

thanks a lot and have a good day

I have a problem with Two-factor Authentication.I have it in bitfenix but my phone has reset the other day and  the google authenticator data was erased.
Now I don't know how to restore  or disable it. I have the same problem with other counts like gmail or btc-e and there i can solve it easy but in bitfinex I don't know how.
How can i do it?

write to the support. but expect to not being able to access your account for 2 weeks or so, as that is the standard procedere in such situations.
I will wait...

Hey guys,

Have any of you ever had a problem depositing BTC into Bitfinex? I've got a deposit that shows "unconfirmed", yet it has been confirmed in the blockchain 685 times (at time of this post). Any ideas? I've emailed support twice without response.

simply getting the job done
I believe there is some bugs in the Lending API of bitfinex. I was unable to make a new lending offer by POST method to https://api.bitfinex.com/v1/offer/new. Here are the situations.

1. The API documentation stated that insurance_option is optional. However, when this parameter is omitted, HTTP 500 error is returned.

2. I can get a response with insurance_option specified, but the response is always "Invalid offer: not enough balance". I have checked using the wallet balances API to make sure there is enough balance and also make sure that the amount is greater than the minimum lending amount (100USD).

Any updates on this? I have contacted [email protected] 2 times on this issue and so far no response for a few weeks.

In case you don't hear from support, I ran into the exact same problem. This is not documented at all but you have to specify the currency of your offer in upper case (example: USD, not usd). If you specify in lower case you'll get that useless error message "Invalid offer: not enough balance", because you don't have any usd balance only USD balance. Same for BTC.  Tongue

I only discovered this fact through trial and error.

Yes, it works. How stupid I am ...

https://api.bitfinex.com/v1/symbols returns ["btcusd","ltcusd","ltcbtc"]

All are in lower case letters........The API should be consistence.
