Has anyone gotten BFGMiner to run the Antminer S3's successfully?
Have they released the source code yet? Last I heard they were going to, and then they did, and then it turned out to be the source for the USB sticks.

I had one Zeus/GAW miner that would lose the USB connection at random times and it would give those errors. When I unplugged the USB cable from the miner side and replugged it would take back off.

Have you made any progress with the S1 drivers? There are a few guys trying to get an S1 blade to work with BFGMiner or CGMiner; in the later pages they are either seeing errors or all 32 chips aren't running:

It's interesting that it even begins to work with that driver at all.
Any idea what the real S1 host system is using for its USB chipset? The VID/PID doesn't come up in /usr/src/linux
As far as I know, it's the pic32 chip that is doing the UART>USB job.
Using a third party USB>UART converter with cp2102 allows me to have it hashing (more or less) recognised as a U1/U2 since it's using the cp2102 too.
At the moment, only 8 chips are found with the default bfgminer build, and it seems I can't adjust frequency.
The USB_ID is sent from the MCU via Pin 41 to the USB controller which in turn basically the UARTS are technically two USB ports just with a couple extra things as temp and fan control.
Pins 3 RX and 5 TX on the UART with Pin 1 being Fan/Power Management and Pin 4 being ground, 6 and 7 being temperature control pin 8 is ground. So with all this mind the UART plays a dual function, hosting the USB/Power and then the temperature control settings.
Connecting TX and RX allows the boards to hash, but the multichain mode used with S1 doesn't allow full speed hashing while using the U1/U2 driver (single chain).
Adding multichain mode from bitmain's code to BFGminer is beyond my kowledge, but it should allow us to use almost any controler instead of the proprietary one used.
For some reasons, it looks like I'm unable to set the frequency.
Is there a way to change the "default frequency" setting in the code to be sure the chips are receiving it?
Temp sensing and fan speed can be ignored if you don't mind the noise or if you use a quieter fan as I do.
Still looking for some help on the software side.
I'll have a few spare prototypes of control boards next week if needed.

With more powerful hardware coming out there is a large need for something like the Novena.
Unfortunately, it's $550 - quite a bit more pricy than a RPi/BBB.
Maybe someone with hardware experience would know how to build a cheaper/stripped-down version (ideally compatible so the Novena can be used as a dev platform).

Since FriedCat cannot be bothered to open source that controller even a bit so people can fix it, it is a mess.
The sad fact is the BE200 controller is powerful but with a dodgy stratum implementation and crashing out all the time it makes it not a fun unit.
I am not sure what a good replacement would be for it though. We thought to start with a RPi and see what can be done.

How are you connecting it to the computer to run them from BFGminer?
I know we are looking into to RPi support and there are some different ways to connect them as they do not have a USB port.

Luke, i recently tried upgrading from 4.2 to 4.8. I have been using 4.2 fine with CGWatcher, but when i go to use 4.8 with CGWatcher, it closes in scrypt mode. running the command without CGWatcher works fine. what command can i run to create a log file to see why it closes?
im not sure exactly what is causing the program to close itself, because i have 4.8 running in sha256 mode fine, and the same command in 4.2 works for my scrypt miners

I had this problem with 4.3 and up a while back. Give this a shot:

This is a bug in BFGMiner 4.8 that is fixed for the next release. The issue is in making the STATS RPC API call to certain drivers.
The fix is already merged if you build from Git.
