I would invest in old coins. It seems to me that such coins are more reliable. At the moment, the risk does not bring much profit.

Investing in new coins can be profitable and can also be detrimental. Depends on what coins you invest. There is no harm in investing in new coins and old coins. Because all must have big potential profits.
Almost all altcoins are down so cheap prices are attractive. If someone invests to altcoins during bull market then it is supposed to be profitable. There is no concrete plan for getting in cryptocurrencies and everyone acts on its own opinion.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?

2-Of course it can. This is a childish rhetorical question.
3-It all depends on the project behind the coin. There are dead both old and newly appeared coins.Conversely, there are promising both old and very new coins.Perhaps if the project is very active and it has “old” coins, then the best option is of course the maximum hodling

old coins: coins that went through the bull run
new coins: are ICO tokens from projects during the bear market, mostly not listed on exchanges.

It is obvious that all the aspect of the space had struggled due the giant force of bitcoin. Over the past year the average dump in price of most of the old token/altcoin from the last bull run is close to 90% while the new coin are holding to their price. Most ICOs in the later part of 2018 decided to postpone the listing which their decision could be justified or condemned as the market revives.
With the approaching news of bull run and present the value of altcoins,

1.  can the altcoins ever hit the ATH price even at $20000 bitcoin?
Of course they can, but not all.

2. Can the new coin from ICO be an alternative even with so much old coin held in some portfolios?
If the project will stand out and benefit, then Yes.

3. will you choose to hold on to old coins or sell to invest into new ICOs?
Everything depends on the project, if I see that the new coins are more promising than the old ones, then I will sell the old ones.

In such a situation, I would not take risks and would invest in old coins as they are supported by investors and have real market demand in addition to speculative, as well as they have finished products.

I think it all depends on the quality of the product. I think that many of the old projects we will see in 10 years, but mostly the market will fill in new projects.

Choosing a coin is always based on its potentiality. I believe that there are so many coin that new but more potential the the old one. But there are also the old coin that is fully developed and also has a great potential. So I think it depend upon the potential not on the age of the coin. We don't need to select the old and the new the best thing to do is to research about its potential to grow in the next few years.

I don't think that non of the altcoin can reach $20000, old and new coin both have merit and demerit.

It seems to me that new coins should constantly appear on the cryptocurrency market, some of them will disappear, and some will replace the old ones.
This constant movement forward is the essence of the market.
But I think such dinosaurs like Bitcoin will remain forever in the top and in the history of the cryptocurrency market.

I read through hybridblock project review today and I understand why it could be hard to get back to the ico price if the market didnt get back. For a token that was purchased at the ethereum price of $1200 and the team didnt sell until token distribution, now ethereum is $100,-90% loss. It could be good to buy now but it demands a lot of struggle for the token, so for most project that raised fund at the all time high price of ethereum and bitcoin, they are liable to struggle for longer time.

The difference of projects is quite seriously correlated. It seems to me that probably now these are really very cool features and projects, only those that are really developing the product. Today they really know how to cool opportunities.

both in the past and this year - there are quite a few excellent projects, many of them have not yet entered the market, but I think that every year the projects will be better and better, solving the problems of past years.

the situation is controversial - on the one hand, old coins showed growth, the ability to survive, on the other there are drawbacks of error.

old coins or new coins in my opinion are same depending on how we chooses or keeps portfolio we have because many old coins suddenly die and there are some new coins that try to rise when market falls
I think that many people just think that the coins have died, but in fact the teams continue to work on their projects

1. Why not? I believe bitcoin will pass 20k when new bull run comes.
2. Some new coins can replace old coins, some can not. It is all about development.
3. I will choose to hold old and new coins. Why should i sell old coins to invest to new coins?

No matter old or new coins, the main thing is their value. Of course old coins are time proved, but not all of them are worthy. As well as not all the new coins are better. Everyone should make a thorough study of coins before choosing the best to invest.

No, I don’t think that altcoins will ever be able to repeat the same rise as Bitcoin, though ... If Bitcoin costs several times more than it showed at the last peak, then maybe some kind of altcoin will come close to this price!

I don't think between new coins and old coins that have very far differences. In my opinion, everyone in Bitcoin is always the king of crypto. If bitcoin improves and reaches $ 20,000, it is not impossible if all altcoins also skyrocket upwards. So, bullrun will be the answer to this. Hopefully this year is not as bad as in 2018. KEE THE SPIRIT. Cool
